DKR was far too cutesy for my liking and was never a patch on Mario Kart 64.

Wasn't the best racing game either could name several better:

Mario Kart 64
FZero X
Beetle Adventure Racing
World Rally Championship
Ridge Racer 64
Top Gear Overdrive
F1 WGP
F1 WGP 2
V-Rally 64

Never played Diddy Kong Racing

Did not like F-Zero X at all. Rented it after unlocking CAPTAIN FALCON in Super Smash thinking it would be neat. It was not.

Are you saying because it was done first in the arcade, and innovators don't always get it "right", that it was better because it came AFTER the arcade?

DKR was superior. Especially for multi-player fun. It was just a hard game that made a lot of people cry and quit.

Didn't know we were comparing across genres, therefore I would say it is subjective on whether the player likes fighting or arcade racing more.

It's true. I have/had a shit ton of fun with both games, but don't really fair you can judge one against the other because the very core of both games is fundamentally different in every way.

People actually think DKR was better than MK64?

Graphically and sie of tracks/environments maybe but everything else and as an overall package it was never even on par with MK64.

I have a soft spot for MK64 as it was the first game I owned on the system but sentiments aside, it really was a better game overall than DKR particularly with replay value and multiplayer modes.

MK64 was iconic and made the series itself iconic and was one of those games that would warrant buying the system.


The top ten I listed were all games worth buying the system for but I'd say Zelda OOT.
