You could, theoretically, make your own Mario adventure.

Drakul 07-09-2015 02:06 AM

There was footage showing "worlds" of four levels. You might be able to download a world and play the four levels back to back.

Kalyx triaD 07-09-2015 05:54 AM

And to think a canceled Mega Man was gonna be exactly this.

Drakul 07-09-2015 06:07 AM

Capcom really screwed up when they threw their little Megaman hissy fit.

Big Vic 07-09-2015 09:29 AM

Capcom is mad with nintendo?

Drakul 07-09-2015 01:01 PM

Super Mario Maker, hardback book, Classic Colour NES Mario amiibo and a Super Mario Maker t-shirt. £49.99 from Nintendo UK.

Big Vic 07-09-2015 01:04 PM

You ignored me :(

Drakul 07-09-2015 01:07 PM

I just had to quickly share that link.

No, Capcom aren't mad at Nintendo.

Kalyx triaD 07-09-2015 02:11 PM

Capcom had a game called Mega Man Universe where you could make your own levels. It featured various characters including Ryu as a guest. After Inafune left this and other MM titles were needlessly canceled.

whiteyford 07-09-2015 02:20 PM

Just ordered it, curse you sir!

Drakul 07-09-2015 03:08 PM

Moi?

Sepholio 07-09-2015 06:36 PM

Gonna have to order that UK special edition for my son. He will freak out.

Drakul 07-09-2015 06:44 PM

The amiibo will work on US Wii U's because I don't think amiibo are region locked but you'll still need to buy the US version of the game.

Savio 07-09-2015 08:27 PM

dunno what I hate more DLC or Amiibos

Sepholio 07-09-2015 10:27 PM

Uhg forgot to even check if Wii U was region locked. Hate that feature of consoles.

Amiibo is much better then DLC. For one thing, it works across multiple games. So, I buy one amiibo and I get extra content for, like, a dozen games.
Secondly, unlike DLC, it's never stuff that makes online games unfair like OP weapons or characters. It's just extras, like outfits in Mario Kart.
Thirdly, amiibo are cool to look at.

The NX might not be locked but Wii U is. Amiibo isn't, at least.

Totally sold out.

Savio 07-10-2015 01:05 PM

Its settled then, I hate DLC more.

road doggy dogg 07-29-2015 10:52 AM

Super Mario Maker supports 99 amiibo costumes, can unlock without figures or cards

Feel less bad about buying so many Amiibo now :D

Emperor Smeat 08-07-2015 06:47 PM

Was recently revealed the creator of the Rayman series helped collaborate a bit with the game's development in the sense he designed one of the pre-made levels included in the game.

Also the amount of pre-made levels in the game got revised from around 100 to now 60 levels.

road doggy dogg 08-07-2015 07:38 PM

I'm still okay with 60... can't wait to see what twisted shit people come up with

Emperor Smeat 08-12-2015 02:29 PM

According to Nintendo, the game has a built-in feature that won't unlock all the in-game tools to make levels until around 9 days later once you start playing. More and more tools get unlocked till the 9-day requirement is reached.

Was among the new set of features and things included from the newest trailer released for the game.

road doggy dogg 08-12-2015 02:41 PM

goddddddd that trailer makes me want to play this so much

Emperor Smeat 08-17-2015 01:11 AM

Supposedly Tingle from the Zelda series is a playable character in the game. Current speculation ranging between Tingle just being another playable 8-bit costume to the possibility of a future Amiibo figurine for the character.

Never been into "fan made" levels and stuff like Little Big Planet or whatever... Don't really think I'm gonna get this

road doggy dogg 08-17-2015 09:09 AM

I've been kind of the same way. I hope there's a pretty rigorous rating system that helps weed out the stupid shit levels, but I generally like a bit more structure in my games. Will have to see how it plays out.

The game ships with 60 premade levels at least, so there's that.

Big Vic 08-17-2015 09:36 AM

Lots of Little big planet levels were bad.... "Look at this cool jump I made" or "I made the midi version of a greenday song"

Some were gems though. The rule of "you have to be able to beat the level to upload it" should make it good though.

Fignuts 08-17-2015 07:10 PM

There are some really good rom hacks and homebrews out there. There are just piles of dogshit surrounding them.

road doggy dogg 08-17-2015 07:36 PM

Every now and then someone will create Counterstrike and prove it's all worth it

Fignuts 08-17-2015 09:55 PM

Megaman Day in the Limelight 1 & 2 are both really great and creative games. Sad that it looks like the third isn't happening

Kalyx triaD 08-18-2015 05:41 PM

Hell has a hockey franchise.

road doggy dogg 08-19-2015 03:09 PM

I haven't been keeping up with all the news/updates, but can you import custom sounds?!

omg.

Holy Christ. That better be unlocked day 1 and not one of the tools I have to wait for.

road doggy dogg 08-23-2015 12:12 PM

I read into it a bit more, and apparently any custom sounds etc get lost when you upload/share the level. Shitty, but I guess it makes sense with Nintendo's typical stance on anything online not being able to be fun because a kid might see a dick in his lifetime

I think it'll work for your own personal saved levels though..

Big Vic 08-24-2015 03:11 PM

I think it would "be a strain on the servers" too.

My Wii U arrives tmw, excited for this.

Emperor Smeat 09-04-2015 05:52 PM

Fly swatting mini-game from Mario Paint got included for the game.

Quote:

One week from today, I'll get to relive Gnat Attack. The chaotic fly-swatting mini-game from Mario Paint lives on in Super Mario Maker, and I can't express how happy that makes me.

It's not too surprising that this and other nods are featured in the level-making game. Last year, producer Takashi Tezuka told Nintendo World Report that prior to Mario Maker, Nintendo explored creating a new Mario Paint for Wii U. (It would've been a perfect fit for the GamePad.)
