BigCrippyZ 09-29-2016 12:52 PM

Ultimately, I think it's all Dixie's fault. She was too stupid to take Heyman's offer. Instead she took the offer of two guys (Hogan and Bischoff) who only capitalized and built on the success of others (Turner's money and Vince's building of superstar Hogan and guys like Scott, Kevin, etc.) instead of taking the offer of someone who can take underutilized or underdeveloped talent and help them to become bigger and/or better stars than what they were. The latter, of which Heyman could've done, is what TNA really needed.

Billy Corgan On If He Can Win A Bidding War With WWE, Struggles With TNA Sale, If BFG Will Happen

Quote:

Billy Corgan appeared on ESPN Radio's The Dan Le Batard Show moments ago and discussed the current state of TNA. Things have not changed since yesterday, and a sale has not been finalized.

Corgan was asked about WWE being interested in buying TNA and how you win a bidding war with Vince McMahon. Corgan said that you don't, and McMahon could buy it if he wanted to and there's nothing anyone "or God" can do to stop him. As of this moment, it hasn't happened and he doesn't think it will, and he hopes that he would know since he's involved in the process of buying the company and owns a piece. Corgan noted that there is currently "a gunfight" with who will get control of the company. He wouldn't say 100% that Bound For Glory will happen this Sunday, but that that he hopes everything will be resolved. He doesn't think everyone involved would want a situation where everyone is put out of work. He's spoken to talent that have told him to not take a bad deal.

Dixie Carter Being Blamed For The Mess

Quote:

As noted, it's crunch time for TNA this week as the company needs to fund this Sunday's TNA Bound for Glory pay-per-view and their next set of television tapings in Orlando, Florida. Dave Meltzer reported in the latest issue of The Wrestling Observer that Dixie Carter, who is still majority owner of the company with 70% of the stock, is being blamed for making the sale a mess.

"There are a lot of hurdles and games being played," someone with knowledge of the sale talks told Meltzer. "She (Dixie Carter) has really made a mess and is responsible for all of it." Carter will be making the decision on who gets the company. Carter doesn't have the money to afford this weeks shows, which would cost around $600,000, and needs someone who can fund it. Another person close to the situation told Meltzer that they thought Aroluxe had control of the company last week, and then thought Corgan had it this past Saturday. "Now I know the same BS is still going back-and-forth," they told Meltzer. "She is something else. I've never met someone so clueless. She is out of touch on all levels. Both sides want her out. There is no doubt there. It's the only thing they can agree on."

Meltzer noted that a deal pretty much has to be made by this Friday, otherwise there will be no Bound For Glory pay-per-view on Sunday and television tapings next week, which would put TNA in breach of their television and pay-per-view contracts. That doesn't "guarantee death," but television partners could use it to cancel the show.

Couldn't TNA run a 'Best of'?

Do you think they know where the tapes from 10 years ago are?

Sixx 09-29-2016 04:15 PM

the best of what exactly?

reverse battle royal?

Innovator 09-29-2016 04:48 PM

If I was WWE, I'd just let TNA go under and buy the tape library in bankruptcy court.

A deal was almost agreed on Monday but fell through. Aroluxe (Harris Boys) are back in the picture, Corgan wants it but isn't keen to just fund it again knowing he's just pouring in money.

The one thing that doesn't make sense from Corgan or anyone else trying to buy this thing - what the fuck are you even getting? A company with no revenue streams, a brand name that stinks, millions of dollars of debt, and a shit domestic TV deal. The only thing of value at all is the international television and a handful of the talent, but neither of those is making enough of a difference.

Is a shit TV deal better than none at all? If Corgan wants to run a wrestling company (and if he's looking to rebrand he's not necessarily trying to save 'TNA') he'll hit the same stumbling block as Jarrett/GFW in that nobody wants wrestling on their station anymore). At least by buying TNA he can rebrand, and have a to deal in place to boot.

Emperor Smeat 09-29-2016 05:17 PM

Doubt WWE wants anything besides the tape library and some trademarks if they buy TNA.

They could snag a few wrestlers but would be surprised if it would be more than a couple like the rumored Hardy Boys or maybe EC3. Everyone else might make more on the indies than what the WWE would be willing to offer. NXT already has enough wrestlers the WWE needs to fill out the brands, just need a bit more time before the next callups or those people are ready.

mike adamle 09-29-2016 05:21 PM

Yeah there's already way too many wrestlers on the roster.

slik 09-29-2016 05:34 PM

Outside of the Hardy Boyz I think WWE might be interested in EC3 and maybe Lashley b/c they always liked him...not really sure they would care about anyone else...maybe Rockstar Spud/Zema Ion could join the cruiserweights division?

Mr. Nerfect 09-29-2016 07:15 PM

I have absolutely no sympathy for TNA. They've had wonderful opportunities and wonderful talent pass through the certain in front of and behind the camera. They have fucked it up for themselves. They have done this to professional wrestling. I don't even buy the "well, it gives talent a place to work" excuse for feeling sorry for them. The talent worth a fuck will get snapped up by WWE, ROH, New Japan, PWG, Lucha Underground (until they are bankrupt), AAA (until they are bankrupt), CMLL, Elite or fucking OVW if they still have a lot they need to learn. They will all have a place in the wrestling business, they just won't be wasting good years on a wrestling program where the perceived highlight by the fans is a wrestler who was losing relevancy in 2010 who has put a grey streak in his hair and talks funny around backyard segments, when everyone knows the highlight is Maria's ass.

Fuck TNA. Fuck them for allowing Vince McMahon's monopoly to grow -- because they are a big reason that most cable stations won't sniff pro-wrestling. I don't know if you blame Jeff Jarrett, Vince Russo, Dixie Carter, Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff or fucking Shark Boy, but TNA could have been something and constantly said "No. We're going to be a steaming pile of shit." That reputation wasn't forced onto TNA -- they welcomed it, and they have embraced it right up until today, with "so bad it's good, right?!?" storylines.

I'll feel better when TNA is dead and talent can go work in places where they can be talented for profit.

Sixx 09-29-2016 07:20 PM

shark boy is definetely to blame

fucking spaz

I hope Corgan can pull it off but i doubt he can out money Vince..

Mr. Nerfect 09-29-2016 11:16 PM

A lot of TNA's roster is really good. I'd sign:

* Abyss to team with Crazzy Steve and give The Decay in WWE a go. They could use some tag teams that have something going for them. Stick them on SmackDown and give Becky Lynch a heel who can wrestle. I don't know if the team will work in WWE, but I'd give them a shot.

* Aiden O'Shea to be a big, brawny, enhancement guy in NXT. Does he play up a super-Irish thing? He could get somewhat over as a no-frills sort of menace. Reminds me of Bradshaw in some respects, but I don't know if he can talk.

* Al Snow as a trainer/producer.

* Damien Sandow to win the IC Title from Miz, because someone has to.

* Braxton Sutter and Allie to run around NXT as a power couple doing Mr. Regal's head in.

* The Hardys to serve as a team to put some of the newer wave guys over. I'd like to see The Revival beat the piss out of them. Jeff could sell some t-shirts. Matt can try and reinvent himself, but none of the Broken Matt Hardy stuff. I'd actually like to see a feud with John Cena, where he talks about how they were both swelling up on SmackDown at the same time, but the machine got behind Cena and Hardy became public enemy #1.

* I would sign The Wolves and have them tear it up with American Alpha, The Revival and DIY.

* Drew McIntyre has got something. I don't know why, but I think he'd fit in on RAW, where he can beat the piss out of Sheamus.

* Eli Drake to NXT to see what he's got. I haven't seen enough of him, but I hear mixed things. If he gets over with something, cool, but if not, you can always cut him later. I'd consider putting him in a tag team with Patrick Clark. Don't ask me why. I think I want to see Drake playing up that he was once on The Rock's show, and I think I want Patrick Clark to also have an annoying "I once met a celebrity" gimmick by building on his Trump supporter thing he trialed.

* EC3 would be a tremendous signing. I'd like to see him go right after Cena, but I know that won't happen. I like the idea of him having a bodyguard and winning the US Title.

* James Storm to be in a faction with Bobby Roode, Austin Aries and Roderick Strong on RAW.

* Jessie Godderz to NXT and see if he develops into anything.

* Bobby Lashley with a manager (Zeb Colter? Jim Cornette in a dream?) to feud with Brock Lesnar.

* Mahabali Shera to NXT to see if he grows into anything worthwhile.

* Mark Andrews to the Cruiserweight Division.

* Gregory Helms as an agent.

* Mike Bennett and Maria for a feud with John Cena and Nikki Bella.

* Moose to NXT to start a Goldberg-like streak and see if it catches on.

* Rockstar Spud as the manager to a team of heel cruiserweights.

* Trevor Lee for the Cruiserweight Division.

* Gail Kim to help out the Women's Division on RAW.

* Sienna to help out the Women's Division on RAW.

* Jade to help out the Women's Division on SmackDown.

* Marti Belle to help out the Women's Division in NXT.

* Elijah Burke to do commentary in NXT.

* Mike Tenay to join the commentary table for cruiserweight matches and for the first matches of new talent in NXT and on the main roster.

Simple Fan 09-29-2016 11:38 PM

Shera can fuck off. No way WWE wants him. Not t even worth a NXT spot. Same for Mark Andrews. Only guys I tmreally see WWE interested in are EC3, Lashley, and The Hardys. Hardy's have their doubts about working for MeekMahon again though.

Simple Fan 09-29-2016 11:41 PM

Also Burke doesn't need to be on NXT commentary. They have a good set up now and he would ruin it.

Mr. Nerfect 09-29-2016 11:41 PM

Honestly going be word of mouth when it comes to Mark Andrews. If he sucks, cut him. I don't like Shera, but they probably want an Indian guy they can market. It seems hard to find one that doesn't suck.

I want Graves off that show. It's just an OCD thing, but I don't like him doing RAW and NXT. I'd be fine with Adam Pearce, Norman Smiley or, ideally, Christian in a non-TNA world.

Simple Fan 09-29-2016 11:47 PM

Just never really liked Mark Andrews. Trevor Lee and Andrew Everett came in and didn't really see a lot of him anymore which I didn't mind. Helms Dynasty wouldn't be a bad team for the cruiserweight division.

Mr. Nerfect 09-29-2016 11:54 PM

I think Lashley is open to working with WWE again too, so I imagine he'd go over (and be a huge deal). I think you're right about The Hardys and EC3, but I do think that they'd take back Drew McIntyre. I can see them taking Trevor Lee too. He's got something for a small guy.

Gail Kim is an interesting one, because I do think it is up to her. She's had two runs with the WWE now, but they admittedly didn't treat women seriously. If she sat down and agreed to talk to Triple H, got a reasonable pay-day, and was a featured part of the plans for the Women's Division moving forward, I could see her taking it. I could even see her getting freedom on the mic to talk about how these women didn't kick the door down -- Kim kicked it down for them by leaving. She could be billed as "The One Woman Revolution" and be a tremendous heel for them. I imagine she'd turn up in ROH though.

I do think Jade gets a look in NXT again. They gave her a look in the first place. I think she is signed especially if Kim turns down an offer. And I do think Marti Belle gets offered an NXT spot. The girls down there need someone to work with on the air that isn't Asuka and who isn't killing them dead.

Sienna is young enough, hot enough and alternative looking enough to be offered a contract. I see her starting in NXT, but I think she'll literally be seen as their replacement for Paige.

I do think they consider signing Allie and bringing her in with Braxton Sutter for that NXT run. I wouldn't expect either to get a huge push, but I could them given a little run down there, heels to get beat for house shows, some mixed tag stuff to give some of the girls experience working with the guys and vice versa, and basically doing a Tye Dillinger thing.

That's unless they are both really shit in the ring. I can't imagine Sutter being completely shit given his start in HWA and longevity in the business, but I doubt he's amazing, otherwise the WWE would have already looked at him.

Going to be honest -- I don't really like Everett, haha. I just think he looks way too much like an Adrian Neville without the body definition. I haven't seen an extended sample of his work, but I did watch some EVOLVE stuff, and he didn't blow me away -- but that style doesn't these days.
