Probably because it feels more like an actual event that matters when there's not a Lite-Brite for a stage in the background and a Lite-Brite for the ring skirt.

Yeah buts its vaguely different with the colour scheme etc, i think only Wrestlemania gets its own set but even that has became mostly standardised in terms of how the stage looks at least. They just add different objects to it sometimes.
