Bryan I can see obviously. He's probably the most popular "new" guy of the last 10 years but that's not really saying much because again, there hasn't been much competition. And I'd rather have 1 Mick Foley than 100 Daniel Bryans.

So would I, believe me, but Mick was allowed to be Mick and I loved the character. Not a Bryan fan myself, but trying to be objective. As an in ring performer he was, at one point, the best in the English speaking world. I think Benoit was at one point too.

Gertner has made a very compelling argument about just how over he was, but I still think Benoit is a credible threat given just how great he was in ring.

Then comes the problem of judging Snuka by recent standards, which is unfair. He could arguably have been the best in ring guy for his day too, given how advanced his style was. It's a tough match and have to admit, I have maybe voted for Benoit because he was more familiar. Maybe an error on my part.

You should watch the OSW reviews, a lot of comedy thrown in, but they are great to relive the Hogan era and a very entertaining watch!

You said the magic word :Backlund I love him even as a kid I adored him I've no idea why though.

Bad News Gertner 01-03-2018 06:22 PM

I love Backlund. He doesn't talk shit like Superstar Graham and Larry Zbyszko so people have this idea that Backlund was a shitty draw and a bore when that simply isn't true. His matches against Patera, Patterson, Rose, Muraco etc were amazing.

Destor 01-03-2018 06:29 PM

In ring product i think can only be judged by the peers of the time. I think benoit is still far better but snuka was no slouch.

Mr. Nerfect 01-03-2018 06:36 PM

Snuka was a big star, no doubt, but maybe it's just not translating to me. I voted Benoit because his work has more scope and he was, despite what others are saying, successful and influential on the business. Over 1,000,000 people bought a PPV with Chris Benoit in the main event in 2000. Of course, the same can be said for Kane...

Kane isnt actually a bad wrestler hes not great but far from bad

Mr. Nerfect 01-03-2018 06:45 PM

I used to love Kane. I wish he had transitioned to a backstage role years ago though. I thought 2010 was going to be his so-long run with the big gold belt. Whoops.

Mr. Nerfect 01-03-2018 06:48 PM

To put Kane's career into perspective, his feud alongside CM Punk against Big Daddy V and Mark Henry, before Henry got good, falls about in the middle.

I have such a special place in my heart for that podcast. It made me fall in love with wrestling again.

Fignuts 01-03-2018 07:32 PM

When I say benoit influenced a lot of people, I don't specifically mean his move set, but just that high workrate match style that guys like him, eddie and kurt utilized. He wasn't the only one, he was one of the guys at the forefront, and a poster boy for high impact style.

Whether you like the direction the industry has taken you can't deny that it heavily emphasized workrate, and benoit played a large part in the business moving in that direction.

Sixx 01-03-2018 07:36 PM

Benoit totally. Possibly my favorite wrestler of all time. Legit badass since we know he can murder kids.

This is what put him over the edge for me and why I went with him in this round.

Everyone that murders kids is ok in my book. Kids are stupid.

It's a shame that he did what he did, because he would have been remembered as a guy like Dynamite Kid and Tiger Mask. An actual paradigm shift wrestler.

Sixx 01-03-2018 08:12 PM

Do you guys remember when that shit happened? First reports said someone murderered the 3 of them.

The very thing I remember hearing was carbon monoxide poisoning.

#1-norm-fan 01-03-2018 08:18 PM

Then that they were all murdered. Then that Nancy killed Chris and their son and then herself. Then that Chris did it.

... Then that Kevin Sullivan did it.

Destor 01-03-2018 08:19 PM

It was a triple suicide

Sixx 01-03-2018 08:22 PM

Yeah, just Benoit wasn't religious enough to off himself holding a bible.

I think they all put the crippler crossface on each other at the same time in some weird... crossface pretzel.

Ezra 01-03-2018 09:51 PM

Benoit wins everything here. Better in the ring better in murdering.

Nicky Fives 01-03-2018 10:43 PM

Benoit was a favorite of mine, but Superfly was a huge draw. I'm sure Vince had to consider him for a run as champion back in the day before Hulkamania began running wild.

It breaks my heart to do it, but Snuka was the better wrestler.

Fignuts 01-04-2018 01:16 AM

Miss Elizabeth got away scott free.

Fignuts 01-04-2018 01:18 AM

Personally, until the thread title is changed to "bigger draw", I'll be voting for who I feel was more talented, and who entertained me more.

Destor 01-04-2018 01:21 AM

As long as youre voting for who you think was the better professional wrestler thats fine. Most nonmarks though think being a good wrestler means making people invested in you so those posts arent going away. BUT YOU DO YOU.

#1-norm-fan 01-04-2018 01:32 AM

It was once explained that the contest is better wrestler and not favorite wrestler so I started valuing objective facts more so than personal opinion. Just trying to honor the rules of the game!

Fignuts 01-04-2018 01:32 AM

MAYBE I WILL

Fignuts 01-04-2018 01:33 AM

God damn it fan, you've ruined fucking everything.

#1-norm-fan 01-04-2018 01:35 AM

You're gonna have to go back and edit that post so that Destor's post is quoted in yours. LOL HAVE FUN WITH.

I get it

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-04-2018 03:43 PM

Benoit was never more over than the Supa Supa Supafly. In terms of murderer vs. possible murderer. I say possible murderer wins.

SUPA SUPA SUPAFLY

I think that was what Benoit told the WWE.

Big Vic 01-04-2018 03:46 PM

I think the only thing Benoit told WWE was that it was a family emergency and possibly that they were throwing up blood.

#1-norm-fan 01-04-2018 04:43 PM

Either way, Benoit was a fucking liar. I bet the dogs weren't even in the enclosed pool area.
