Maybe.

They're releasing a standard controller as well.

G 09-16-2005 10:19 AM

"Can even be used in domino rally simulators"

Buzzkill 09-16-2005 10:24 AM

Someone on another forum knocked this up, and has already claimed copyright
Is a genius idea.

G 09-16-2005 10:29 AM

I'm telling you, this will revolutionize gaming as we know it. Nintendo will reclaim their top spot in the gaming industry.

Gerard 09-16-2005 10:47 AM

Shows a lot of balls by nintendo going in this direction. Lets face it microsoft are trying to make their xbox 360 into a friggin multimedia pc whoring features on it that have been in pc gaming for years now, sony have their batarang controller and what both ms and sony have in common is their consoles are just more powerful so more polygons on the screen and thats it. If it was left to these 2 companies games would just look better every few years and that would be it.

Nintendo were the first to have a gamepad, first to have analogue controls and first to have a rumble feature. And of course ms and sony copy them because when it comes to innovating new stuff theyre both practucally clueless. Interacting with games the way this controller allows would make for some amazing gaming. People are just whining because its not what they expected, bottom line is NOONE here has tried the fucking thing yet, and beacuse its different its automatically gonna suck.

And the funny thing is nintendo has now grabbed all the attention with this new design, it is NOT something you can judge based on friggin pictures, untill you've tried it you've NO idea wtf its like because its never been done before.

And for the people that are obviously afriand of change and innovation, theres ports for plugging in gamecube controllers here.

hello PS3.

It wasn't so much that they felt they were the future, and more that they were easier to use and harder to pirate. Then the GCN, with its smaller discs and backwards rotation (Harder to pirate).

Their attempts at piracy protection have been some of the worst moves in gaming. Right up there with "Gamers don't want online" and "We don't need to worry about Microsoft."

And you're automatically praising it because it will be amazing. You've tried it, then?

And yes, every move the Nintendo folks have done has been brilliant. Their decision not to adopt online, which in turn cost them games. Their decision to fight piracy through carts then mini discs. The new Gameboy Micro. A controller that does preclude the majority of multi-platform games. Oh look. If we want to USE the backwards compatability, we have to buy a different controller. Hope that's the ONLY other shoe to drop. The amazing support they've given the DS.

But yeah. It's just because it's different.

SuperSlim 09-16-2005 11:17 AM

There's revolutionising, and then there's going so far out of your way to stand out/be different that you end up with something that is worse than you already have.

Remains to be seen which this will be.

G 09-16-2005 11:44 AM

Just wait. This will be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I'M CALLING IT AS OF 09/16/2005

Mr. Monday Morning 09-16-2005 11:48 AM

Maybe by the time it comes out someone will have invented a message board where you can enter messages by waving your fingers around in a typing motion, and TPWW will have been upgraded and your prediction will be lost.

What a shame that would be :(

Because it IS a remote control.

Nintendo didn't do this to be revolutionary, they did it to be "cheap." Cost effectiveness is one of their big things, so that they don't get killed taking a hit on each system sold. Once they add a tilt censor, "ZOMG! ITS REVOLUTIONARY!"

Now say I'm jerking off with one hand and typing with the other. Will this affect what shows up on the screen?

We will see. ;)

Mr. Monday Morning 09-16-2005 11:57 AM

I doubt it would really stand out all that much right here at TPWW.

Ninti the Mad 09-16-2005 12:08 PM

Where are all the buttons?

And how would one reach them.

Fignuts 09-16-2005 01:10 PM

You have to have stretchy thumbs, like Mr. Fantastic.

Ninti the Mad 09-16-2005 01:11 PM

It seems that you would have to hold the controller two-handed cock style.

With that much effort, I would rather implant buttons and a directional pad on my cock.

DS 09-16-2005 01:14 PM

The buttons are on the bottom and back. A and B and 2 big buttons. You move it around to controller the motion after you set up sensors around the TV. So basically, the people who jerk the controller around when they get into the game are going to have a huge advantage over the people who are calm and steady.

I loved how they said it's perfect for FPS games when we all know that Nintendo's library is based mostly on FPS.

G 09-16-2005 01:17 PM

Yea you caught that too.

Kalyx triaD 09-16-2005 01:20 PM

Oh my God... Oh my red God... Nintendo just tied bricks to their feet and hopped in a river. They are single handidly destroying their place in the console war, obviously yearning for a spot under Game Boy Advance.

But...

I'll be damned if it wasn't really 'revolutionary'. It'll surely give an incredibly unique play experience to the 15 people who buy it. (I am however, still waiting for Nintendo to deny this photos). It's sexy, sleek, NEW; but not what I'm look for in terms of casual gaming. Maybe it'll play kick-ass Zelda's and Mario's, but conventional gamers just got the boot from the big N.

I'm reminded of a brilliant scientist named Roy Rife (look him up). He claimed to have cured cancer with little more than electrical wave frequencies. The "Rife Ray" was accepted by the science/medical world because his theories and practices were unorthodox to the powers that be. He was financially and personally attacked by 'civil' men for thinking far beyond the box. He threatented the very stable of science medicine; ofcourse he'd make enemies!

I guess what I'm saying is we need those whack unconventional ideas, even if it's from a company that we'd expect to stay traditional. But for Nintendo, I suppose pushing the boundries for orthodox mind sets is traditional.

Still not gonna buy the weird thing until I'm made to believe.

DS 09-16-2005 01:20 PM

Not to mention how hard it will be to get a headshot when you're aiming with the controller.

Jason Cage 09-16-2005 01:26 PM

Kalyx triaD, the pics are on the front page of ign.com; there's like the full coverage there. So it's pretty much official.

Im praising it because they have the balls to try something different, as i said in my first post if it were left up to sony and ms we'd have nothing but updated graphics every few years and practically nothing else new in terms of how the games are played. Im waiting to see how it turns out, but from what ive read at least it does seem to be a good idea.

The controller comes with a shell device which you cna encase it in to make it more like a regular controller, then you have the option of gamecube controllers as well. For all we know the system will come with a gamecube controller packed as well, nothings been announced on what the retail package will include.

DS 09-16-2005 01:29 PM

Not to mention the Nintendo.com link.

"Denial ain't just a river."

Hey; maybe it'll be cool. But I can't shake the feeling that Nintendo's doing this for shock value. I hope they know what they're doing, for my sake.

Jason Cage 09-16-2005 01:37 PM

They have no idea what the fuck they're doing. All you gotta do is look at the pictures and then compare them to old remotes. Now, when the joystick is being used by one hand, the other holds the remote...and it's pretty fuckin ridiculous cause since the inauguration of time, you've always needed access to several buttons while playing with the joystick...and making the remote vertical is even worse. i mean how in the shit are you suppsoed to reach the buttons when youre doing something fast. Say for instance, when you jump and kick in mid-air. You need easy access to two buttons to do that...and this remote does not give you that.

It just won't work. Stupidest fuckin creation ever.

G 09-16-2005 01:46 PM

Just wait until you try it before you shit all over it. Just because it doesn't look like a regular controller, doesn't mean it'll suck. Fuck.

Kalyx triaD 09-16-2005 01:53 PM

The FPS contributions will be legendary. I don't see fighters doing as well. Racing games will be natural. WWE Day of Reckoning 3 will be VERY interesting.

They say that about the DS too. Unfortunately, for FPS fans, there's like one out at 2 planned or summat.

Switching from the analogue stick to the A+B was bad enough, but now you'll probably have to wiggle the remote...I mean controller...

Nintendo? Go for shock value? Never!

They're trying to milk innovation naow, in the easiest ways possible. The problem is, they're no longer the guys they once were, who were 100% behind their products.

Kalyx triaD 09-16-2005 01:57 PM

I like the idea of doing my own knife edge chops. Reaching for the ropes myself. Tagging my partner. That's the future of wrestling games, touching the wrestlers...

G 09-16-2005 02:00 PM

^ What springs to mind is what kind of effect will "doing your own knife edge chops" have with parents nowadays?
