El Fangel 12-01-2006 05:25 PM

The best era in wrestling was 1996-2001.

M-A-G 12-01-2006 05:29 PM

But there are more jokes to be made about everything beyond that so no, I don't agree with that. :p

El Fangel 12-01-2006 05:32 PM

Are you talking to me M-A-G?

M-A-G 12-01-2006 05:42 PM

Who else? :shifty:

El Fangel 12-01-2006 05:43 PM

Well I am the only other person in this thread apparently I mean look, its just me and you.

M-A-G 12-01-2006 05:44 PM

You must be talkin' to me!!!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE The Brain and his commentating, and he had a strong start in WCW, but his strength was bringing humour and fun to boring squash matches, or drama to matches involving "his" guys. When wrestling changed during the NWO days, that style was not appropriate for the programming anymore, and Brain became more serious. Quite frankly, he dropped all the aspects that made him so great in the first place.

Ventura did the same later on in WCW, moved away from humour and became more serious.

Both guys= tremendous colour commentators, mediocre serious stick men.

Yeah I guess saying they "sucked" was a bit over the top, but definitely mediocre at best.

I know for a fact I disagree and if my talks with Destor are any indication he disagrees as well. Mid 80's, NWA's Atlantic promotions, in my eyes nothing will ever be able to top that.

The best era in wrestling was 1900-2006

FourFifty 12-01-2006 06:16 PM

Pfft, whatever. We all know it's 2008-2035! After that "one more last match" of Hogan's in 2034... that is.... uhhh... if you have a time machine... I can't say any more... the time police will kill me.

Tb1 12-01-2006 06:24 PM

I think we can all agree, John Cena is a tremendous rapper.

Tb1 12-01-2006 06:25 PM

"chain gang is the click, it's trade mark
the truth is basic thuganomics im raining fire like apache helicopters"

That's ill.

Avenger 12-01-2006 09:52 PM

remember in Hogan's autobiography where he said he thinks he could've been elected President? WTF!

Destor 12-01-2006 09:56 PM

He might of been right...

Kane Knight 12-01-2006 10:04 PM

Hogan probably could have been elected President.

He's less fake than Bush, Gore, or Kerry.

El Fangel 12-01-2006 10:40 PM

You know if the 80's he likely could have, as he was known bette r then the canditates likely.

The One 12-01-2006 11:04 PM

Do you guys not realise that people are not wrestling fans. Knowing someone doesn't mean you're going to vote for them. The people who are fans of Hogan are a part of that 75% or whatever who doesn't vote. I can almost assure each and every one of you that Hogan could not be electred President. And before people point out the likes of Ventura and Regan, remember, Ventura was elected Gov and not Pres, and Regan was a political puppet and had been heavily involved in politics for years. No way that the country I live in would elect Hogan to the big Office. If I recall he tried running for Mayor and was basically laughed out of the running before he made any type of impact.

Destor 12-01-2006 11:11 PM

People are idiots. I wont put anything past them.

The One 12-01-2006 11:16 PM

The way I accept people are idiots...

*9/11 was done by the Government
*Aliens have made contact with human
*Wrestling is real

The ways I refuse to accept anyone with a pulse could be so idiotic...

*Would vote for Hulk Hogan in a presidential election

El Fangel 12-01-2006 11:17 PM

Too true Des, especially the people who put Georgie in da hizzouse.

Destor 12-01-2006 11:18 PM

I dunno. If the Terminator can get into office, surely the Incredible Hulk can. :-\

El Fangel 12-01-2006 11:24 PM

Seriously how would this not guarentee him office.

People (or things) more likely to be elected President of the United States than Hogan...

George Clooney
Martin Sheen
A dead Tupac
George Bush being elected for an illegal third time
Joe Camel the smoking cartoon
my left nut
The Incredible Hulk comic book character
That Gonzalez kids from Cuba a few years back
Your weed connection
A magic 8 Ball

So judging by your list of people/things before him he will become president in 50 years after his WM73 match against flair for the title?

I disagree with ECW being poorly booked, at least in its entirety. Parts of ECW are booked quite well, so a generalized statement for the whole show... well, I disagree.

Testicle 12-02-2006 01:33 AM

hogan vs. warrior in wcw was the worst/ most botched/ badly timed match in the history of pro wrestling

El Fangel 12-02-2006 01:36 AM

T4C has a point.

So wait...The kind of people who are hogan fans don't vote in national elections, but they vote in state elections?

NeanderCarl 12-02-2006 03:51 PM

Ventura was elected Governor because of his political views, the promises he made, the prescence he held in the Minnesota area etc etc. That wouldn't translate to the Presidency, in my opinion. I doubt we'll ever see Jesse Ventura as President of the USA.

And if Ventura can't do it, with an actual political background and a term in office, then even Hogan at the height of his popularity wouldn't stand a chance.

Just because you think somebody's a "nice guy" or a "hero" doesn't mean you'll vote them in as President.

Surely........?

Try watching the abomination that was The Ultimate Warrior vs Goldust at In Your House VII: Good Friends, Better Enemies, April 1996.

addy2hotty 12-02-2006 04:28 PM

When Chris Jericho said to Vince 'you have a small penis', it was a huge shock.

You just described how Bush got elected.

Well, that and spending half his campaign clearing brush.

No, I stand by the fact that most wrestling fans arn't smart enough to know what day to vote. Jesse was elected by non-wrestling fans based on, well basically what Carl said. Hogan has a better chance of having a good match than he does even making it to the Presidential Debate.

McLegend 12-02-2006 07:24 PM

We can argee that I am the most underrated poster in the wrestling forum.

Also I'm sure we all could argee that WWE has done a good job with UMAGA so far.

The One 12-02-2006 07:39 PM

I can't tell if legend is joking if not. If so, i got a chuckle out of it, if not, you make me sad.

McLegend 12-02-2006 07:41 PM

What WWE has clearly done a good job with UMAGA. UMAGA is quite over.

WWE deserves a :y: or something for the job they have done with him.

The One 12-02-2006 07:43 PM

Umaga is a horrible character, and if you give anyone a long enough undefeated streak, people will take notice. That's not an accomplishment. I can barely stand to watch a full match of his (now that I think about it I'm not sure I've ever sat through an entire one). His finisher is a thumb. Umaga is a shinning example of what's wrong with the WWE currently.
