"Spoilers":

SPOILER: show
Love the end of season 1. How they just showed a montage of how pointless the whole operation was, and everything pretty much just went back to business as usual. Bubs and all the "fiends" still doing/buying drugs, Stringer Bell taking over, etc.

Downunder 06-04-2009 06:52 AM

I'm halfway through Season 3.

This show just gets better and better.

Deadwood is still the greatest show on HBO, but this is coming a very close second.

yea, that's pretty much a major theme of the show. life keeps on going on as usual no matter who or what intervenes.

I loved Season 1.

muffalufagus 06-07-2009 04:33 AM

I just finished season 2 today. The last two Saturdays I've nursed a hangover and watched The Wire all day. Season 1 and 2 were nothing short of fantastic. I haven't been this into a show since... well... ever. It's fucking amazing.

RP 06-08-2009 04:18 PM

Downloading Season 3 now. Finally. Had other shows to catch up on. Got some House seasons in. Rewatches some Lost season 1 and 2.

Now i'm bout to catch on my 3rd favorite show of all time. The Wire.

ct2k 06-08-2009 04:29 PM

Seasons 3 and 4 are the best for me, 4 in particular is just...Deep, and so complex, but so worth it.

Loose Cannon 06-08-2009 04:55 PM

I dunno, the season's before Stanfield just dragged to me. But I think I was spoiled with Omar/Barkesdale War in season 1 that I wanted more of that. That's why I loved the whole Stanfield/Barkesdale War in the later season's. And Season 2 was great because it was different and went to another area of Baltimore.

Triple A 06-14-2009 08:03 PM

omg @ season 3

Unbelievable.

Can't believe ____________________

Halfway through season 4 now also. Fucking amazing.

RP 06-14-2009 08:15 PM

I literally just finished the last 2 episodes of season 3 an hour ago and when i get home in the morning, i'll have a review of the whole season. Lets just say...this was epic television.

RP 06-14-2009 08:15 PM

Gunna watch season 4 all day tommorow On Demand.

Mr. Monday Morning 06-15-2009 08:16 AM

I'm not a huge fan of S2 but it is very important in the whole overall scheme of things. Key, actually.

CSL 03-18-2010 09:00 PM

Finished this finally last night after putting off watching forever. Can't really say anything that hasn't already been said in here. Just jawdropping. I was ready to download the first few eps of Oz and start watching that but Rapidshare being a cunt atm and reading through this thread means I might just start The Wire again :o

muffalufagus 03-19-2010 06:28 AM

I just started S1 up again. I'm about halfway through, and it's just as good, if not better, the second time around.

Beautiful show.

Oh, how naive I was. A bit later on I realised that The Wire is the best show ever. Bar none. It endears itself into your soul, and becomes part of life that you just cannot ignore. Fucking amazing.

I'm going over the show again, and I am noticing so much about it. For example:
SPOILER: show
Cedric Daniels and Rhonda Pearlman long allude to their eventual relationship.

It's just stuff like that which truly lets this show do such a whole number on you.

El Capitano Gatisto 05-15-2010 08:58 AM

I finally ordered the box set a few weeks ago. It's fucking hard to watch just one episode of this. Last Saturday night I piled through half of season 1 in one go. It's a ridiculously engrossing TV show. All I've been doing this week is studying then rewarding myself with a couple of episodes, burned through season 2 this week too.

thedamndest 05-15-2010 10:42 AM

I just finished watching the series a few weeks ago. Felt the same way about only watching one episode.

ct2k 05-15-2010 03:11 PM

I've watched it through in its entirety twice now, and the first 4 seasons about 3 times each on top of that. Still notice new things I never did before, and still find it impossible to watch just one.

Buzzkill 05-15-2010 03:31 PM

Yeah watching through again. So unbelievably good.

Really transcends from a television show to an important aspect of life.

DrA 07-30-2010 01:30 AM

I just finished season four. Probably some of the greatest acting and writing I've ever seen in anything. There are so many great characters on this show. I don't think I have hated another fictional character as much as Snoop while watching this show.

RP 07-30-2010 09:49 AM

the only thing i hated about season 4 was there was not enough McNulty

DrA 07-30-2010 01:47 PM

I was thinking the same thing actually. His character was wasted until the end, even more than Bunk was in season 3. For the most part they do a nice job juggling the characters with storylines, especially considering how many characters they have to give air time to.

Downunder 07-30-2010 11:28 PM

Now I want to watch it from the first season again

Triple A 07-31-2010 02:26 AM

Yeah I feel like rewatching seasons 3-4 now.

CSL 01-25-2011 08:11 PM

Desperate to go through this again but I've been refusing to and will continue to until I buy the boxset. I have the first 3 or 4 seasons of Homicide: Life on the Street (features writing by David Simon, based on his book etc) downloaded that I might start soon and this is the closest thing to a thread for it since I'm not about to start a new one. Similar at all? Does it come close? (obviously it won't be as good) Worth watching?

El Vaquero de Infierno 01-26-2011 02:30 PM

I got The Wire boxset for xmas, and I have just started season 3. Fantastic viewing.

Nervous Ferret 02-04-2011 04:58 AM

Would watch this if I could tell any of the characters apart from each other

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-04-2011 06:21 AM

BAMMMMMMMmm

Confused 02-04-2011 04:54 PM

Bought the first three seasons and they sat on my shelf for about a year and a half before I got round to watching them. Flew through them once I started.

Amazing show. I've watched it start to finish twice now and I'd say it won't be long before I start watching it again.

That fourth season is absolutely amazing. Which surprised me because when I saw the emphasis was going to be on the kids I thought it might suffer. Couldn't have been more wrong.

El Vaquero de Infierno 02-21-2011 11:39 AM

Nearly finished all the seasons now; just watched episode 8 of Season 5. Some great shit.

SPOILER: show
I'm gutted that they just killed off Omar. Great character

So I'm just getting to this thread, and reading through it I see that you all echo the same sentiment that I felt/feel when it comes to this show. What a gripping, epic piece of work by all parties involved.

Also the
SPOILER: show
Death of Omar is meant to be as trivial as it is, as nobody is bigger than the Game/Baltimore

Funny story.. I've been a loyal HBO subscriber for over a decade, but they threatened me with a lawsuit after I missed one ep from season 5 and downloaded it from Pirate Bay
