The fact that he is the greatest rapper alive is the reason I don't listen to rap these days at all.

If I think he/she/they suck after a couple of songs, why should I waste my time listening to them any further?

I think the notion that there is actually depth to Jay-Z or most artists beyond their singles is primarily ridiculous and largely false.

Music is subjective as a whole, what one person may find to be their best work, someone else may think it is utter shit.

The fact is from working at a music store for a couple of years, plus having friends that like rap, I've listened to my fair share of rap. And thus have been able to shape my own opinions.

I find Jay-Z just as annoying as guys like 50 Cent, Puff Diddy Daddy P Combs, Nelly, and Kanye West.

Most artists, period. Rappers or otherwise.

I agree with the first portion. Those rappers are not even close to what the best of the genre has to offer, so I could see your dislike for rap from that.
