Yeah, pretty sure if Santino was suspended, the WWE would announce it on WWE.com. They also wouldn't have given Santino a continuing role on the rest of the show. Regal just won the IC Title because he can do whatever he wants whenever he likes. The world works that way for men of his stature.

They always pander to the hometown boys, though. I'm supposed to cheer Cena, FFS.

He is no Santino though.

Yeah, Regal doesn't suck.

Yeah but Cena is a face. It's when someone is a heel that it annoys me. If the fans CHOOSE to cheer them (like a heel Jericho in Canada for example) fair enough, but don't force a heel down our throats as a face just because they're the hometown hero, it's just a bit insulting to the fans in my opinion.

Not that the WWE ever insults their fans, or anything.

Even A-Train got cheered as a face in his hometown a few times.

I mean, I take your point, but still....

parkmania 11-13-2008 06:39 PM

Really? I don't remember that. We're (Pittsburghers) usually better about that - just look at how we reacted to Kurt Angle when he was heeling it up at home. Booed him out of the building.

Y2Ant 11-13-2008 06:57 PM

Wasn't A-Train from Boston? :o

parkmania 11-13-2008 11:31 PM

Possibly. I know he went to the University of Pittsburgh, so I kinda identify him as being from here.

And that has more to do with being a tough crowd than being indicative.

They really seem shocked when you don't like a hometown boy. The Canucks and Brits get more of this, usually due to the whole "nationalism" thing.

Mr. Nerfect 11-15-2008 07:05 PM

Remember when Edge got booed in 2004 in Toronto despite being a face? I think Christian got a nice pop that night, despite being heel.

I really don't mind it when a guy plays the hero in his hometown. I mean, Regal's whole gimmick is that he is a cold-blooded ass-kicker from the streets of England. So he goes out there, all cold-blooded like, kicks ass, and talks about how proud he is to be from England. It fits his character.

Lux 11-15-2008 07:31 PM

Edge is so great he can get booed in his hometown, DUH.

Lux 11-15-2008 07:31 PM

Now thats some serious heel heat.

Mr. Nerfect 11-15-2008 07:34 PM

Shame he was meant to be an epic babyface. :p

Mr. Nerfect 11-15-2008 07:37 PM

On the bright side, I think that scared the WWE away from pushing Edge as a face for a long time. This has allowed Edge to really grow into such a great heel. Especially earlier this year, where he was great in the ring and again on the mic. It's been a while since we've had a truly entertaining on the mic heel Edge.

Right now, I think we should be entering an era where the WWE listens to the fans, and turns John Cena heel, and counter-acts that with an epic face turn for Edge, which I feel would be more than possible given how awesome Edge has been, and new motivations for him being a good guy.

Lux 11-15-2008 07:50 PM

Edge as a face with an incoming Christain would be something I could see as very possible and smart.

They could fight a heel stable of Cena, Orton & ____ (insert name of wrestler you wish to see)

Mr. Nerfect 11-15-2008 07:57 PM

I have to be honest: A heel stable consisting of John Cena, Randy Orton and Batista would be pretty intense. Three of the performers most shoved down our throats over the past few years. They'd work tremendously as a group of three highlighting and aiding each other in their dominance of the RAW roster. Vince McMahon could return and support them entirely as the direction he wants the WWE to go.

Mr. Nerfect 11-15-2008 08:31 PM

If Bobby Lashley ends up returning to the WWE, add him to the group.

That would require them to flip their biggest merch seller, and admit one of the biggest problems in WWE currently. So it wouldn't happen by its very nature. Just because they want to build WWE around "faces" like Cena and Bats.

Of course it's not going to happen. But it would make for some interesting television if it hypothetically did.

You'd hopefully move up some faces to challenge this group, which would hopefully give the WWE more venues for merchandise. Good television could build-up ratings and PPV buys again, which would help the WWE out of the rut they are in where they need to rely on things like merchandise sales as heavily as they do.

Ya know if WWE writers and Vince ever looked upon TPWW.net they would stumble ona gold mine of ideas that would continue to trump TNA ten times more then they are now.

That will never happen though.

It's a double-edged sword. They'd probably latch onto the worst ideas on the boards, and run with them.

Remember, for every great idea, there's about 100 bad ones, and Vince would probably be "amused" by them. And when Vince is amused, corpses are humped, midgets main event, and many are wished well in their future endeavors.

Mr. Nerfect 11-16-2008 01:39 AM

Why is it never the midgets wished well in their future endeavours?

FourFifty 11-16-2008 01:40 AM

Maybe I missed it, but is there a source for this?
Or is this a case of if enough people say it long enough it becomes true?

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo........................ No source?

Kane Knight 11-16-2008 10:40 AM

No source because it wasn't really true. Though it was fair speculation initially, but even that became unlikely.
