This is not a thread that involved as much malicious cutting down of others as I imagined, but I enjoyed it anyhow. The family is purchasing my little sister a Wii (most age appropriate) for Christmas.

#BROKEN Hasney 12-15-2008 02:11 PM

If they're older than 5 don't get them Wii Music. other than that, there are lots of awesome kids games. I let my 7 yr old cousin beat me at Rayman Raving Rabbids last Christmas :shifty:

thedamndest 12-15-2008 02:15 PM

She is 8. I think the parents got her Wii Music, how bad is it? I got her (me) Brunswick Bowling and I think she is getting Smash Bros. The parents are getting Wii Fit for them.

#BROKEN Hasney 12-15-2008 02:20 PM

Smash Bros and Wii Fit are great, not played that bowling game (the bowling on Wii Sports is fun mind you).

On Wii Music, you move your hands like the instrument and whatever speed you want and the song autoplays itsself perfectly and there is no skill involved. You can play drums OK-ish with the balance board as a kick pedal, but there are no tasks as a drummer, just a drum set to piss about with.

On her birthday, upgrade her to Rock Band :shifty:

thedamndest 12-15-2008 02:23 PM

That Wii Music game sounds like it needs to go back immediately and replaced with Wii Zelda.

Oh hells yes, or Mario Galaxy

Mario Galaxy would be my pick, though I'm biased in that I loved SMG and hated Zelda. I have never in my life been THAT bored by a video game. Well, I probably have, but I can't remember a case. I'm sure someone will have named a more boring game in 5 posts or so....

Seriously, I've only traded in two games in the last three gens or so. Tales of Symphonia and Zelda.

Yup, you die on the second level due to a rock as well

Java port, even the lawnmower selection is correct to the speccy version. Only one level though so no dying in this one.

I cannot believe they actually sold this for money.

LOL, really?

This feels like a hoax, but who would put that much energy into propagating it?

My mum paid 99p for it back in the day. Why would she think a lawnmowing game would be fun? :(

Kane Knight 12-16-2008 09:48 PM

Moms tend to buy anything, because they don't understand the difference between video games and really shitty video games.

Funky Fly 12-17-2008 02:00 AM

Hell, my parents couldn't get why I couldn't play a PSP game in a DS a few Christmases back.

I got a few NES games from other relatives for my Atari 2600 back in the day.

My mum one Christmas bought me a load of Dreamcast games, an extra controller and 2 VMUs and I was like, "I have an N64 and a Saturn mum" :(. She let me stew for 6 hours until she produced the Dreamcast she bought me :p

Xero 12-17-2008 02:56 PM

I never really got anything like that. My mother had half a clue when she was buying my games. She was (and still is to an extent) a gamer, so it usually worked out.

Any other relative usually gave me those shitty LCD games. In fact, I got a wrestling one a few years ago. It was generic and had Greg Valentine on the cover. Wish I kept it.

My Mom always used to try and pull that. It was so pedictable, though, that I basically just humoured her.

December Sales. Wii dominates, selling about 3 times the PS3 and circa 1.5 times the 360. Nintendo dominates, and Microsoft continues to outdo Sony by a dramatic difference.

Sony is so taking the #2 spot.

Fignuts 01-18-2009 01:37 PM

Didn't the PSP sell better than the PS3?

Kalyx triaD 01-18-2009 01:47 PM

PS2 damn near sold better than PS3.

Sony took a big lost this year. I wouldn't be surprised if we seen some significant in-gen revamps in the next year or so.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-18-2009 02:31 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the last Sony console with all the money Sony's losing...

...and no, that's not a good thing

Agreed on both counts, though I don't particularly think they're doomed yet.
