I think this angle is laughable since even the dumbest WWE mark knows HBM isn't broke.

This angle would work better if it was the OTHER rocker. Very believeable.

But if we do want to get anal, medical bills are really crippling, and it's probably more believable that the Has-Been Kid is in debt up to his eyeballs than it is to believe most of the other current storylines.

Uh, you're wrong. Mark Calloway is filed as a "Living Undead" on all of his tax forms and has been for the last decade (of destruction). Kane is his brother, but he is not a zombie, and does not get a tax cut for it, and Cena and Orton are not lovers, in fact, Orton put Cena on the sidelines not long ago (that's how much they hate each other).

Also, if HBK's medical bills have bankrupt him, then Cena should be in the fucking poorhouse.

Fox 12-17-2008 04:16 PM

IT'S STILL REAL TO ME, KANE KNIGHT!

Fox 12-17-2008 04:20 PM

Seriously though, has any else had the thought cross their mind that this angle might lead to HBK versus JBL at WrestleMania?

I'm not saying it's a good idea, but it's something the WWE would do (especially if they have some sort of alternate plan for Undertaker aside from UT versus HBK).

Think about it. HBK is JBL's reluctant bitch for a few months until he snaps and breaks their rule. JBL tries to make his life a living hell and drive him out of the WWE, and they make a match at Mania where the winner get a million dollars or some bullshit.

Bradshaw is an ex-Texan, now residing in New York City, which will draw huge heat from the Texas WM25 crowd, while HBK will garner the obvious face pops.

God I hope I'm wrong.

Kane Knight 12-17-2008 04:42 PM

I'm not sure who I'd cheer for. On the one hand, JBL was smart enough to leave Texas. On the other hand, leaving Texas means his belligerence and low IQ might spread.

Fox 12-17-2008 05:47 PM

If HBK starts carrying around a shoe shining box my opinion of this angle may change.

The visual of HBK shining Kane's boots is worth an easy 5.0 in the Nielsens.

I’m going to try to get this back to the topic

Personally I like this angle, it’s relevant so people can relate to it, it’s a paint by numbers angle, but it should be fun, this could of just been thrown together to get a HBK/JBL feud for Mania since Pritchard let the cat out of the bag.

It’s effectively Virgil/Ted all over again, Michaels will help JBL win matches and get his bags etc, eventually he’ll be forced to make a choice between taking out HHH or someone and turn on JBL

It’s simple storytelling in a believable environment, HBK’s promo made it sound plausible that he would be broke, the whole thing is fine from where I’m sitting

But see, that's why it's so smartarded. It is stupid as hell to assume Shawn is outta cash. Hecan shell out all the "I gave my cash to my friends, I bought McCain numbers of houses and cars, I suddenly lost all my OTHER money in this horrible economy and I'm somehow not getting any monetary influx from my contract," he wants. He can stand there and do a RAW routine during the PPV, explaining in logical sounding fashion just how hefell on hard times. It might sound very possible.

And then you sit back and say, "Wait -- that's fucking stupid."

When you say something retarded in a very smart way to try to be convincing...that's being smartarded.

Kane Knight 12-17-2008 11:40 PM

Imagine if he started a new business on Raw, and each week, he tossed up new schemes to make money.

Afterlife 12-17-2008 11:42 PM

A Christian Scam Artist? It'd never work.

Mr. Nerfect 12-19-2008 02:47 AM

I know this is leading towards HBK giving JBL the Sweet Chin Music, and going back to "I don't care, God will look after me somehow" Shawn Michaels, but I would love for this to lead to a full-blown heel turn for Shawn Michaels. HBK with his hair cut short, always wearing expensive business suits, and riding proudly in the limo with JBL would be incredible stuff.

Regardless, I'm hoping that this at least amounts to a backstage encounter with Chris Jericho, who calls HBK on finally smartening up and not listening to the fans anymore.

Speaking of Chris Jericho, while he and Randy Orton seemed aligned for one week, it was the most I've been interested in Randy Orton in some time. Jericho and Orton have often taken the same position on things recently -- even if they don't see eye-to-eye all the time. If Jericho and Orton had kept that relationship going, and forged one with JBL, to ensure that they are the powers that control RAW, this angle would be cooler, because you'd have Chris Jericho, Randy Orton, JBL & Shawn Michaels (reluctantly) as the top heel force of RAW.

If we get some sort of stable facing Randy Orton's Legacy group, then Shawn Michaels would make a great face for it. Ted DiBiase would be a logical addition to the face side of things as well, and if he bailed out Shawn Michaels so he didn't need to work for JBL, it would put the fans on DiBiase's side a fair bit.

James Steele 12-19-2008 02:52 AM

I think the money angle would be HBK and DiBiase Sr. trying to bring Manu to Christ.

That would be money. "Manuel" could really move some t-shirts.

Or braziers.

Mr. Nerfect 12-20-2008 03:10 AM

Next week, I'm thinking that Shawn Michaels might help JBL win his match against Rey Mysterio...by kicking him in the face. That's the technical win via DQ for JBL, and HBK gets a little satisfaction by doing something I think we're meant to think his character wants to do.

Kane Knight 12-20-2008 10:05 AM

That certainly wouldn't conflict with his speeches or jeopardise his new-found income.

Whoa! You mean the WWE doesn't always make sense?!?! Get the fuck out. No, seriously, get the fuck out, KK.

.44 Magdalene 12-21-2008 03:42 AM

So wait, you're actually suggesting the WWE should make no sense on purpose?

Or... you're hoping it'll not make sense?

Or... you're guessing it won't make sense, thus being pessimistic...?

I don't know.

Mr. Nerfect 12-21-2008 03:45 AM

The small font gets it. I actually don't think it would be that bad, if rushing towards the ending of an HBK/JBL feud. But I don't want to see that go through to WrestleMania, either. The WWE is getting worse and worse at having things sorted in time for WrestleMania.

Londoner 12-21-2008 07:22 AM

I couldn't find HBK's promo at Armageddon believable at ALL.It wasn't the stuff he was saying, but you could tell he was talking shit.

Mmmm...More strawman....

Care to explain to me why that's a straw-man? Because it seemed you were the one that went off and started talking about sense like it was relevant. Douche.

It's also sad that you seem to have a hunger for straw men. That would be one of the many things to cut out of your diet.

I get what you're saying. I think a lot of it, for me, anyway, was that they were grabbing at anything to make this angle make sense. And that they decide to finally tease the HBK heel thing again with JBL, of all people.

Afterlife 12-22-2008 06:09 AM

If we're lucky, we'll find out that HBM was lying to his loyal fans and just wanted the extra cash. That would totally make this angle work for me.

Anybody Thrilla 12-22-2008 10:14 AM

All of this is the fault of Shawn Michaels, really. Not for being broke, obviously, but if he would just toss aside his stupid Christian beliefs and get over himself, he could have a normal heel turn just like anybody else and they wouldn't have to come up with these ridiculous angles to soothe him. What a geek.

That's true. The point of playing a character is playing a cjaracter. Glen Jacobs doesn't really hook testicles to batteries. Michael Hickenbottom can be overbearingly Christian off the clock.
