I just finished watching season 4 again ( I just watched all seasons start to finish) and I have to say that Desmond and Penny and their stories have been the best TV I have seen in years. jesus, the Constant episode is so damn good, and when they finally get together it has been the best moment of this show.

God I hope they play major roles in this coming season.

yah that episode gets me every time. I think its because the guy playing Desmond is so huggable that you're rooting for him the whole time. Hopefully there story line dont jump the shark in season 5.

The Future is set. Time is already laid out. It is destiny.

This is why Ben didnt think they would Kill Alex, and by killing Ale, time was changed, and Widmore Changed the rules.

By leaving the Island, they changed the future, which is why they need to go back. To right the timeline.

The Island is the key to time travel. Ben and the Others are protectors of the timeline. Widmore wants to change history.

How would they know they changed the future when the future hasnt happend? Unless everything that is happening is actually the past and maybe Ben traveled back in time to change something and now realized the whole future was changed. Maybe this whole thing has happend already and Ben traveled back in time to mess with something (who knows what ) and by doing so changed everything. So he's now traveled back in time again to fix things. He was confident Alex would not have been shot at that moment because he had already lived through that moment and it was a different outcome. But sense things were changed, she was shot.

Many people look at time as the 4th Dimension, and think of time as a Linear Path. Like some think you cannot change the future because it hasnt happened yet...but some say you CAN change the future, a la Terminator, because it WILL happen. Some take it further (The Book Rant) and suggest time is laid out, and everything is set in place before it happens.

Somehow Ben Knows the future, and how it is suppose to be.

I predict that the real ending will be something silly and simple, that disappoints everybody who has all these complicated theories of time loops and aliens and whatever.

So how does death work in this show? Is it a fulfilling your destiny thing or is it a doing the right thing redemptive kinda deal? Cause like the last episode with Michael who tried to kill himself but couldn't finally died after he saved everyone on the boat. Same thing with Charlie. They both expelled their demons by being heroic. But then Mr. Eko had already expelled his demons pretty much but still died.

I've heard theories incorporating what you're getting at (that the Island 'lets them go once they have redeemed themselves) it seems to lend itself to the pergatory theory that I believe has already been rebuffed.

Worst story line of the whole show was Shannon hooking up with Syad. LOL .
