It's pretty meh/ok. Not better than 2003 to me. A lot of the characters are way too simplfied (ESPECIALLY Ralf, who I use a lot).

I'll have to play it myself.

It's been historical fact that most reviews for fighting games are off the mark. I just need to test drive the baby.

Never mind what I said above, after having a rotating session of this game with some peeps I realized it's madd fun as you get used to the characters movesets. The critical counter system is also real smooth and works like riding a bike, as soon as you hit your first counter into combo you'll be able to hit it almost all the time. Plus all those little touches added (like what happens when 2 moves collide into each other and cancel out) just make the game that much cooler. Only small beef I have with it is SNK running out of funding and being unable to animate Benimaru's Shinku Katategoma (Break Dance of Pain) special move and omitting it.

They ran out of money making this? Lame. No wonder the roster's a little thin this year.

Maybe its my SF4 homerism and my lack of experience ever playing KOF, but the game just doesn't look to play as exciting as SF to me. Even SSF2T seems more epic to me.
The visuals are great though. |
I gotta be honest, KoF's engine is often more exciting on a hype level than SF. It's more kinetic with the active ukemis and such.

I'm loving this game, the time attack focus is interesting.
Anyone got the complete the game in 3:30 achievement yet? :p |
You did? How and with who? That emoticon after the question makes it seem like you did.
|
Oh no, that emoticon is more like I doubt any of us probably will get it
