I stopped caring for Guitar Hero when Rock Band came out, but if it has Garbage and Gorillaz, I'm in.

Blitz 06-02-2009 01:18 PM

When Diesel Mac calls me an idiot for my taste in music, I consider it a badge of honour.

D Mac 06-02-2009 03:22 PM

Once again, I win for having "bad" taste in music. Which proves it's pretty special.

Kalyx triaD 06-02-2009 03:23 PM

THERE IS NO "TASTE" IN ART

Except when mentioning Lil Wayne, then you official suck dick.

Fignuts 06-02-2009 03:26 PM

Dunno, ghwt and gh metallica both had better, song selection, and more fun tracks than rb or rb 2's setlists.

D Mac 06-02-2009 03:27 PM

But the DLC side of GH fails.

There is "taste" in art.

I just don't believe good or bad can be latched onto it. Just different.

Yeah, obviously, but that's not what we're talking about.

Pretty sure blitz was talking about default setlists, and as I said, I agree with him on that.

The Optimist 06-02-2009 03:30 PM

I'm hoping against hope that you can choose Gorillaz band members as characters.

Or if you're D-Mac. I mean, seriously.

Nah, I kid. Mac knows I love him.

Since "good" and "bad" are subjectives in the same way "taste" is, there's no point in artificially distinguishing between what should be permissible.

St. Jimmy 06-03-2009 05:22 PM

Will wait for Rock Band 3. Won't buy this.

Maybe next year, but not this year.

Least RB2 will be getting updates. But there's not much of a need for a new RB any time soon, anyway. there is a need for a new GH, because of the model they use.

I'll probably get it. The only question is, new, used, or bargain bin? It's not that the GH franchise is a bad one, but I'm not spending a lot of money on it.

D Mac 06-04-2009 03:57 PM

I'd probably buy Van Halen before this.

Kalyx triaD 07-09-2009 07:52 PM

Confirmed.

Funky Fly 07-09-2009 08:50 PM

Sick of live songs. Fucking Children of Bodom finally gets in and it's one of their shitty ass newer songs.

FearedSanctity 07-09-2009 09:37 PM

Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal and Bon Jovi? Sold.

LuigiD 07-09-2009 10:03 PM

I am not excited at all.
Lately I am more excited for track packs and band exclusive games.
I hate more than half the bands on there.
Oh and by the way, why can't they fucking put a Bodom song from the first albums?

When I saw them live back in 2000 and that clip from Amadeus played I flipped out.
Man..has this band gone down hill.

G 07-09-2009 10:08 PM

I will buy this either way because I love guitar games right now, and Rammstein is on it. :(

D Mac 07-09-2009 10:16 PM

Might be one of the worst setlists ever.

Live and remixed. We replace covers with other tracks that are similar in issue.

But CoB already has a presence, so...

Kane Knight 07-09-2009 10:19 PM

Also, why do they have to use Fame for Bowie? There's like 900 other songs I'd pick first.

Kalyx triaD 07-09-2009 10:23 PM

They're trying to be 'indy'.

D Mac 07-09-2009 10:25 PM

Booo at the Beastie song not being Fight for Your Right.

Kalyx triaD 07-09-2009 10:34 PM

It is an odd setlist, but I imagined this event. If your reason for continuing the franchise (GH or RB) is to dive into unlicensed songs and basically update the setlist every once in a while - and not because you have anything to add to the genre technically speaking, this is what we'll run into.

Neversoft is on the 'new songs' train (I really don't have RB3 news to justify adding criticism to Harmonix - but I'm watching them). Now I will be honest, GH5's feature set is lacking. And it's lacking because they don't really have a drive to extend the music-game genre (as Harmonix did from GH to RB). They threw in completely out of monetary reasons. Not that it's such a bad thing, greed provided half the shit we love right now. But if they got no real bleeding edge idea for the genre, all they can do is license new songs.

You see, if they provided some great new gameplay concept I wouldn't give a shit about playing songs that were already charted (up to three times, some of these songs!), because I'm experiencing them in a fresh way. This is why it didn't bother playing something on Rock Band that was on GH before, or playing something on GH's user-friendly chart philosophy when it was on RB prior. But if you're not in the business of moving the genre forward, re-charting tracks will feel old and stale if we're playing it the same damn way.

D Mac 07-09-2009 10:36 PM

I might not even buy this at all. :n:

Blitz 07-10-2009 12:22 AM

All of the songs that were confirmed were also on an apparently leaked full setlist that appeared on Joystiq. So if all those songs are confirmed, I think it's reasonable to assume that the leaked list is legit. The full setlist posted was:

oh shit, that's a nice setlist.
