I like Family Guy, but I'm gonna have to agree with BC here

Fignuts 06-09-2009 06:02 PM

Venture Brothers is better than all of them, so there.

Requiem 06-09-2009 06:05 PM

Venture Brothers is pretty hilarious, but I would have to put Futurama above it still. Venture Brothers is definitely funnier than Family Guy or King of the Hill though.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-09-2009 06:08 PM

King of the Hill is funny because of its subtlety, which is something non-existent in the McFarland universe.

Jeritron 06-09-2009 06:15 PM

Family Guy is in your face, shock humor. That and played out references to pop culture absurdity, like David Hasseloff and Gary Oldman beating up Hitler, or something ridiculous.

If some people want to laugh at that, fine. I don't really think it's skillfull or entertaining humor.
I prefer the wit and subtleties of The Simpsons (seasons 3-9)

Family Guy can't hold a candle to that. Also, King of the Hill isn't a favorite show of mine, but I respect it's humor.
It's subtle and smart.

I feel like the majority of Family Guy's jokes are geared to the meathead americans who prefer their humor to be direct and mindless, as a result of IQs that match their shoe size.
Even The Simpsons have been guilty of pandering to this in recent years with Homer Simpson.
It's a sad state of affairs when the average viewer would rather see a character make a fat joke, or fall on their face, than laugh at the hilarious musings of the Van Houten family.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-09-2009 06:32 PM

Also I can think of at least two episodes of Futurama that were so touching I almost cried. When was the last time anyone anywhere emotionally connected with a Family Guy episode?

yup, futurama fans aren't losers

Bad Company 06-09-2009 07:02 PM

Hey, you watch the episode with Fry's Dog and tell me you don't well up.

losers who wear Abercrombie golf shirts and listen to Dave Matthews

If you're going to make asinine comments that make you sound like a complete retard, at least try to keep your insults consistant.

Droford 06-09-2009 07:33 PM

The great thing is it will be HD like the movies.

road doggy dogg 06-09-2009 10:37 PM

I enjoyed the 4 movies, they weren't as good as the episodes though, I find. LOVED Bender's Game though.

I pretty much agree with everything Supreme said.

And to a lesser extent Fignuts.

Can't wait. Only seen the first movie though. Need to check the rest out.

Lock Jaw 06-10-2009 04:07 PM

First one was the best. Second was terrible. Third was "meh". Fourth was ok.

road doggy dogg 06-10-2009 04:07 PM

Psssht Bender's Game was the best <3

Nark Order 06-10-2009 04:46 PM

Gertner, what? How can Futurama be nerd comedy but it's main demographic is somehow preppy, Abercrombie wearing, Dave Matthews loving "bros"? You're combining two conflicting stereotypes here. IT JUST DOESN'T MATCH UP!

Supreme Olajuwon 06-10-2009 04:47 PM

I don't know the order but the one with David Cross as the monster from another universe was retarded.

'Futurama' getting new voices for Fry, Leela, Bender, and others

Jul 17, 2009, 03:17 PM | by Margaret Lyons

Just when I was getting really excited for the revived Futurama, total bummer news emerges: The voice actors are going to be different. Who's going to Zoid my Zoidberg?

Twentieth Century Fox, which is still producing the series even though new episodes will air on Comedy Central, is recasting the major voice roles for the show. That means no more Billy West (Fry, Professor, and Ziodberg), Katey Sagal (Leela), John DiMaggio (Bender), Maurice LaMarche (Kif Kroker, among others), or Tress MacNeil (Mom, and several others). Worst!

Fox released a statement saying "We love the Futurama voice performers and absolutely wanted to use them, but unfortunately, we could not meet their salary demands. While replacing these talented actors will be difficult, the show must go on. We are confident that we will find terrific new performers to give voice to Matt and David's brilliantly subversive characters."
Horrible.

Funky Fly 07-18-2009 03:53 AM

Wow, unless its the most hilarious show of all time, this new version of the show will fail abysmally.

#BROKEN Hasney 07-18-2009 04:23 AM

Oh good, my boxset that says complete collection still is, as this will be horrible.

THANKS PENNY-PINCHING FOX

Skippord 07-18-2009 04:26 AM

suddenly I'm very sad

CharismaInjection 07-18-2009 06:36 AM

I'm not watching it :/ It'd be like watching The Simpsons with a new voice cast. The voices make the show.

The Destroyer 07-18-2009 06:54 AM

Talk about a sting in the tail.

I can't imagine the cast were after a lot of money, I suspect it's more to do with Fox being cheap.

CharismaInjection 07-18-2009 06:55 AM

because it's not just Fry, Bender and Leela. It's everyone! Zoidberg, Zapp Brannagin, Profffessor, Nixon etc. it'd be just wrong.

Tornado 07-18-2009 08:38 AM

Wow, this is going to suck. Gutted.

I highly doubt that.

I don't think the voice cast would demand loads of money for doing the voices. Like The Destroyer said, I think it's just Fox wanting to be cheap. I'm going to watch the first episode with the new cast just to see what it's like. I'm sure I'll hate it though, and if so, I won't watch any of the new episodes.

Futurama was the best thing going for Groening at the moment, with The Simpsons losing there magic a long time ago, Futurama was probably all that he had left. Now, because of Fox, it looks like Groening is screwed.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 07-18-2009 08:49 AM

If this story is true, I imagine most of the audience will turn off after the first line. "Good news, everyone!" will not work with a different voice.

road doggy dogg 07-18-2009 11:22 AM

Awful news. Of course, I'll still czech it out because it's Futurama, but how the fuck? I mean, I could understand like, maybe one of the voice actors, but all of them basically. Especially considering many of them do multiple roles on the show. Stupid. Gonna be terrible.

road doggy dogg 07-18-2009 11:23 AM

Highly doubt they will get anyone to replace Billy West. Idiots.

DAMN iNATOR 07-18-2009 12:02 PM

Wow, another FOX fuck-up. What a surprise...

Lock Jaw 07-18-2009 05:30 PM

No way this is real. No way. I deny this.

Outsider 07-18-2009 05:36 PM

This news is terrible.

The new episodes/films they made weren't great to be honest, and a new series was slightly worrying.

With new voices for the characters, it's gonna be worse.

To be honest, they would be better off creating new characters and doing something that's more of a spin off set in the same world than attempt to keep everything the same. At least that way old characters could make cameos.

Lock Jaw 07-18-2009 06:12 PM

THIS IS WORSE THEN WHEN THEY REPLACED ALL THE VOICES ON POKEMON!:mad:

Buzzkill 07-18-2009 07:58 PM

Holy shit that is Retarded

DAMN iNATOR 07-19-2009 06:30 AM

They might as well scrap this shit because I absolutely will not tolerate ANY new voice actors for the regulars. It's unacceptable and we deserve better as fans for our loyalty to the series.

So to whoever made this decision: I hope he can see me from up here. I'm doing this as hard as I possibly can...:|[/Ignignokt]:foc:
