See, this is never going to work because everyone here is a Nintendo fanboy.
Let's just cut to the chase, name mario 3 the greatest, and leave it at that.

Also, HOMM3 is a turn based RPG of sorts, and it's fucking awesome. So shut the fuck up.

There is nothing awesome about Turn Based RPG's

road doggy dogg 06-19-2009 02:43 AM

There is plenty awesome about turn-based RPGs.

I guess you didn't see how many people have Final Fantasy 7 on their lists here. It's more strategy and puzzle solving than anything, centered around an immense storyline. On top of that, you can play for HOURS. I dunno, if you don't like it, that's fine, but there's no reason to shit all over it here. It's an exercise in futility.

Personally, FF8 > FF7. Better everything.

Requiem 06-19-2009 02:17 PM

While I don't like the FF series, one of the greatest games of all time was somewhat turn-based, and that is Chrono Trigger.

Testicle 06-19-2009 03:21 PM

Super Mario 64
Diablo II
World of Warcraft
Shadow of the Colossus
Goldeneye 007

Testicle 06-19-2009 03:22 PM

I am happy to see that many people have shadow of the colosssus on their list, that game is fucking amazing.

Krimzon7 06-19-2009 08:26 PM

Goldeneye
Double Dragon II
Any Madden
Final Fantasy VII (and X for that matter)

FF7 > FF9 > FF8

Freya > Every character in FF8.

OssMan 06-19-2009 11:23 PM

Quina is greater than Freya, but yes still greater than FF8.

Not that it'll make a difference because you're only hearing what you want to hear anyway, but whatevs.

JPRG games generally have amazing storylines, likable characters, (in Final Fantasy's case great music as well, but that's because Uematsu is wonderful), and amazing settings.

They're obviously not the kind of game you invite your friends over for a couple hours to play, since they're largely single-player affairs. It's like reading an interactive book. Some people find that boring, sure, but there are plenty of people who also find the countless WW2 FPS clones incredibly tedious as well. It's all subjective.

People saying FF8 is better than FF7 makes me question their sanity sometimes.

Yeah well feature sets speak louder than your inquiry.
