I think everyone is exhausted from the bitchfest back in 2009.
Yeah well, serious discussion about the game from now on or fuck off.
Serious fucking business
Dunno. Feels more like arcade style then UFC's sim. Graphics are pretty good. Might have to rent first.
Not sure how I feel about the control system on this, probably just more used to UFC, but using the stick for strikes just doesn't seem quite right.
Colour me thoroughly unimpressed.
Varied roster of greats from around the world. Good. Strikeforce cage/rules and Dream ring/rules, plus custom rules. Good. The loose, floaty control feel and the general cartoonish look of the fighters reminds me a lot of Facebreaker. Bad. The right stick for striking is great in Fight Night, but inaccurate garbage here. Bad. The submission system being the Smackdown vs Raw "spin the stick and find the sweet spot" method is awful. The sweet spot doesn't even vibrate half the time. Bad. Takedowns are fucking near invincible, since they travel way too far and are apparently immune to strikes. Bad. Having to spam your friends to get "Classic Randy Couture". Bad. Having to connect to the god damn fucking EA servers that can't maintain a connection for 2 seconds for leaderboards and whatever other crap they have... Bad. |
This thread was awesome.
You can change to button striking in options
I bet it's gonna be like Fight Night where button striking is disallowed online. Again, great for Fight Night, bad here.
I hadn't noticed the button striking option yet. I'll try it out.
Not sure about this one. Feels alot more 'arcadey' than the UFC games, but the more I play it, the more fun it becomes. I love the knockout animations when the guy is reeling after a few to the head. I'm glad I cancelled my preorder, but will probably pick this up when the price comes down. |
I love how Roxer is trying to be high and mighty about the rules and regulations of TPWW, yet he spammed the fuck out of this thread..
ANYWAY....im gonna have to say this game feels very cartoonish. Pretty much agree with everything Funky stated, especially the takedown bullshit. I thought takedowns were annoying difficult to stuff in UFC10, but this shit is near guesswork.
I agree that the takedowns get a little annoying, especially when the CPU player seems to spam the hell out of them as soon as the 'head' meter goes down somewhat. You could call it tactical, but it doesn't throw in the clinches or anything as much, just unblockable takedowns everywhere.
That being said though, I'm enjoying it more and more. It's making me want to re-preorder it if I'm honest, even if I'm in the minority. Also, love the blood effects, going down the face and staining the shorts etc. Good stuff. |

LOL
It's really not that bad |
Played the demo, it's way to arcade style for me i'll just stick with UFC.

I've won the matches I've played, but it's more due to dumb luck than any semblance of skill on my part. DO NOT WANT. |
Bought the game today, it seems alright, absolutely hated it at first, but once i changed to classic controls it became better. So far it's decent, but nowhere near as good as UFC 2010. Will have a go at career mode and see how that goes.
looks awful to me. i'm getting pretty grate at ufc though, i have made some godly CAFs.
Gamepro gave this a 4.5. WHERE'S YOUR GOD NOW, GUYS?
The most enjoyable part so far has been the soccer kicks/stomps. Really fun.

I kinda like this snark thing. Might keep doing that. :D

bunch of the guys at my gym like this one more... meh im playin force unleashed 2 at the moment
Got this on the cheap a week ago and liking for than I did the demo. Switching to classic controllers probably helped as the stick just doesn't do it for this game. Soccer kicks to the head is one of the most enjoyable/satisfying things ever.
