Smackdown's problem is not enough face characters in main event. They had to turn Matt Hardy face as insurance in case Jeff left too early than expected. For heels, they have plenty such as Jericho, Kane, and Finlay if they wanted short term feuds.
I think right now their only main faces would be Matt Hardy and Khali (based on being a past champion). They probably have Edge coming back as a face but he might be involved with Jericho while they lost CM Punk, Jeff Hardy, and Rey Mysterio. Edit: Forgot all about Morrison as a face but WWE isn't pushing him to the main event to fill in for Rey's suspension or Jeff Hardy leaving. |

Which I hope they do not do. Morrison's time is coming but it is not yet |

Morrison needs more time. I love watching him but he has so much potential to be huge that I hope they take their time (which it seems they are doing not even including him on ppvs).
Batista has been terrible since he beat HHH at WM except for the beg stages of his program with Eddie. |

If Batista eventually turns heel on the show, I wouldn't mind seeing him do a clean job to a returning Edge. I'm not sure when Batista will retire, but I wouldn't mind seeing a face Edge be the one to retire him. |
Smackdown doesn't need any more heels, their problem is not enough faces once Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio both went off the show. News is saying main reason Undertaker came back early was to help fill the face void but he can't wrestle as much since his back is still sore.
Batista is going to be a face probably until Edge and Mysterio returns then he can turn heel if they have nothing for him as a face character. |
Hayes will find a way to use Batista that doesn't piss everyone off. It's his thing. Simply having Batista on the roster won't ruin Smackdown. He's got Khali and Kane in a feud out of the main event that isn't unbearable. He'll figure something out.

I hope he just puts people over then retires

Christian would have been a better choice I think

I like the prospect of Kane v Batista. If they eventually let Punk get over the undertaker in a convincing match then Punk may be able to get over Batista down the road. The thing that worries me is that Batista beat Orton on raw. It's kind of awkward to me seeing Batista take out the number one heel on raw then not going after the belt on SD. However, SD has had the best booking I've seen in a while so I'm going to remain hopeful that they continue to do well.
