Not really.. A spin off is taking a character (or characters) and doing that.. They pretty much just revamped the show with a mostly new cast, making Zack the star instead of Ms. Bliss.. Saved By the Bell the College Years or Saved by the Bell The New class are spin offs..

Droford 09-29-2009 11:07 PM

Lone Gunmen from X Files was just a really terrible idea and I guess 9/11 didnt help any.

Lock Jaw 09-29-2009 11:36 PM

That 80s Show was a pretty lame attempt. Though I don't know if that can technically be called a spin-off.

Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, I Am Weasel, The Powerpuff Girls and Courage the Cowardly Dog. (What a Cartoon! Show)

Not spin-offs. what a Cartoon! was designed to give those shows some exposure and to test the waters for the audience. In fact only one of those shows is a spin-off. I Am Weasel! is a spin off of Cow and Chicken.

Awesome Spin off: Melrose Place from Beverly Hills 90210.

Skippord 09-30-2009 02:29 AM

King Of Queens is like 40 times better than Everybody Loves Raymond

so I guess that's a good spin off

That's pretty much the premise behind almost all US sitcoms along with the fat guy being a moron. If it's not, it's usually a show that originated elsewhere.

Frasier is the exception and that's one of the reasons I thought it was so good and the best spin-off of an American show by a long way.

Porridge and Open All Hours are great spin-offs but if I go by Shadows post, Porridge and Open All Hours wouldn't count as spin-offs because Seven of One was designed to try out different concepts for a Ronnie Barker sitcom, which gave birth to Porridge and Open All Hours.

Red Dwarf is a spin-off of Son of Cliche, an old radio show. So I'd say that, Frasier, Porridge and Open All Hours (if they count) are the best.

Oh right.

I thought What A Cartoon! was just a show full of cartoon shorts, and those cartoons I listed received a lot of positive feedback from fans so they gave them there own shows. :-\

Kindof like Joey. During Friends, the character was pretty popular so they just gave him his own show after Friends finished. The major difference being that those cartoons were awesome, and Joey simply wasn't.

Dallas - Knots Landing

Knots Landing was supposed to be a good spinoff back in the day

Can't really remember it

The children of earth mini series was great.

Shaggy 09-30-2009 12:18 PM

Angel is probably my favorite spinoff....

How is that a spinoff? Unless you're talking about that Galactica 1980 show or something...

The Mask 09-30-2009 06:24 PM

yeah KOQ only crossovered everybody loves raymond. they are both pretty cack but i still watch them loads for some reason.

frasier is probably the best.

i'll be honest, if KOQ had someone more like roseanne and less like leah remini i would have lasted about 1 minute.

The Mask 09-30-2009 06:24 PM

it was weird seeing a young leah remini as carla's daughter in cheers too :'(

The Mask 09-30-2009 06:25 PM

speaking of, didn't they do a "the tortelli's" after cheers but it bombed?

Boondock Saint 09-30-2009 07:28 PM

Golden Palace

Droford 09-30-2009 07:31 PM

I was looking things up and I saw this, which I never even knew about:

Pinky, Elmyra and the Brain

Lock Jaw 09-30-2009 08:09 PM

Oh yeah. That pretty much put an end to the Warner Bros "Saturday Morning Cartoon" show era.

LoDownM 09-30-2009 09:16 PM

I never saw that shit, thank god.

Juan 09-30-2009 09:23 PM

It wasn't that bad.

Xerzes 10-01-2009 02:12 AM

Jamie Kellner is responsible for the utter shit that was Pinky, the Brain and Elmyra. He also killed Frakazoid and WCW.

And who the crap said Freakazoid was a spinoff? It was never on Animaniacs.

Sixx 10-01-2009 05:17 PM

I think I might be one of the only 3 people in the world that enjoyed Joey.

Hornicane 10-04-2009 04:52 PM

There were 2 more?

Yes, I sometimes made my gf and my friend watch it with me.

Sixx 10-04-2009 05:50 PM

Oh, wait. This just means there were 3 viewers. Nevermind.

The first show was actually in Indiana, not Ohio.

D Mac 10-05-2009 02:23 PM

I remember there was a show Three's a Crowd that was a spinoff of Three's Company and it didn't last long.
