Gotta play this after class. Can't wait.

G 01-28-2010 05:37 PM

played a few rounds earlier and i wish they would have put in a different mode than the same gold rush thing. i understand they are including regular team deathmatch. i would have rather played that.

The Destroyer 01-28-2010 06:23 PM

Seems worryingly glitchy for a demo. Keep getting jammed on bits of scenery.

Kalyx triaD 01-28-2010 08:53 PM

Gameplay seems choppy, like less than 60fps. I love the streamlined interface. Still playing.

Kalyx triaD 01-28-2010 09:58 PM

WAR

After some time with the game, playing Gold Rush (now called Rush), I feel BC2 will live up to the series - but there's some hiccups I hope is just a 'demo thing'. As I said there's a sluggish/choppy feel to movement. It's enough to make me notice during playtime and it feels unpolished. Game's still playable, but it didn't seem as smooth as I know Battlefield could be. It was certainly less smooth than BC1.

The sluggishness rears it's head when you activate certain commands as well. Is it me or does it tale a second to register the respawn command? I feel like I have to press it twice. It's the same with B button commands, it takes a sec for the action to actually happen, be it entering vehicles or disarming bombs. You get used to the input lag but I rather not have to. Everything else is 'FPS responsive', the gun shoots when I want it to.

I like the slightly remapped controls, they're more natural and saves confusion (I still had issues cycling BC1 and 1943's weapons/items). The four classes seem well balanced, but I miss the shotgun for Engineers - perhaps it's an unlock. The defibrillator is so cool and nice to have back after so many years. I've bought my Squadmate back more than a few times and I felt like I was pulling my weight. The game will let you know who needs health on your team, you can be a superstar medic. There's a predator chopper drone that's league's easier to use than the regular chopper and great for recon, provided you can that one asshole to stop hogging it.

Modern Warfare 2, compared to this demo, comes off more polished and responsive. But the team-based objective nature still keeps me excited. To be honest, it was a lukewarm playtest, because everything I value Battlefield for seems to be done 10 fold on the recently released MAG - and I can't help but feel I should be all over that instead. But still, BC2 is good team based fun.

Brujesino 01-29-2010 12:53 AM

the chopper is still way to hard to use ive been on it twice and crashed it in less the 40 seconds twice

the tanks however are much easier to use and are just plain awsome

Kalyx triaD 01-29-2010 01:05 AM

I thought the ATVs were cool, but I keep getting wasted on the road. Rather drive halfway and sneak in with the engineer class.

Brujesino 01-29-2010 02:04 AM

i havent really bothered with the atv or when i try to get in with another player they just drive off

have you noticed that its a little bit harder as a defender to win?atleast harder then it was in BC1

Kalyx triaD 01-29-2010 05:15 AM

Actually I find offense to be harder than defense. I've been lucky with decent squads, though. Bringing people back to life is fun.

Brujesino 01-29-2010 06:47 AM

damn i meant to say attacker...dont know why i said defender

also the shotgun is awsome in this game

Kalyx triaD 01-29-2010 07:05 AM

I can't wait for the full game. Adding slight touches to your weapons will be cool, and their implementation of their own 'Perks' system looks a lot less exploitable. Want.

We need to squad up, time to do this shit.

Hanso Amore 01-29-2010 01:22 PM

This game is bad fucking ass.

How do you get a shotty?

CSL 01-29-2010 01:45 PM

I've only been playing 1943 for about a week. I'm guessing this is like that but with the ability to 'do a lot more'?

Yes. Its graphics are much better, everything in the enviroments can be destroyed, and there is so much more "cool" shit.

CSL 01-29-2010 01:55 PM

Legend. Gonna czech the demo when it comes to PS Store.

Requiem 01-29-2010 02:06 PM

have had the beta on ps3 for a while. pretty fun game, but i find myself more interested in mw2

get to rank 2...thats as far as you can go

unless yous some kind of BC god and can rack up more then a million points in a month

Kalyx triaD 01-29-2010 07:41 PM

You have to be Pvt.III for the shotty. And it's pretty crazy, all the guns put people down quicker than the last BC.

The Phenom 01-30-2010 12:00 PM

Played the demo didn't care for it at all. MW2 is a far better game especially online. The demo was just to choppy and the fact that you can drive tanks to me seems like an unfair advantage.

RoXer 01-30-2010 02:03 PM

Good thing Call of Duty doesn't have a game where you can drive a tank.

Or any other advantage for that matter.

Fignuts 01-30-2010 04:20 PM

The other team has tanks too, you know.

Fignuts 01-30-2010 04:50 PM

So I tried it. Feels more polished than the first one. Everything has more "weight" to it. But I don't know. Playing MAG and then playing this, everything feels deserted and barren. Feels weird. I'll probably stick with mag, and maybe pick this up later.

Kalyx triaD 02-03-2010 04:16 AM

Been practicing with the chopper and managed some decent bombing runs. Even had a dedicated gunner and we slaughtered many an enemy. We landed for repair and went back to kill. It was great. Then I crashed it.

Just figured out how to request favors from the other classes, and even ask for a ride from vehicle users, but I think there's too much going on for someone to notice. Chatting with your squad will still be the ideal thing to do.

Glad parachutes are back. HALO jumps FTW.

ESRB outs WWII-based opening of Bad Company 2

by Ben Gilbert http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.en...writer_rss.gif { 48 minutes ago } http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...001xbox001.png http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...station001.png http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.jo...c-button25.png
The original Bad Company spinoff in the Battlefield series kept the franchise's setting firmly in modern times, but if the Bad Company 2 ESRB description is true, you'll be seeing a return to WWII in the sequel. At the very least, the game's opening will bring players back to the Eastern front, with the ESRB description saying, "In single-player mode, players conduct missions on an unnamed Japanese island during World War II and then move into the modern day through jungles, deserts, and snowy terrain."

As we've discovered in our way too many hours with the game's multiplayer demo, the description details the inclusion of "melee attacks with a power drill" (yes, seriously) and the characters use of profanity "during cutscenes and in the heat of battle." And yes, we're just as excited by the former as you might imagine.

ugh

Kalyx triaD 02-07-2010 04:16 PM

Fuck WW2 at this point. I mean, seriously.

G 02-07-2010 04:17 PM

i hate how i have to adjust the sensitivity every time i play the demo

Kalyx triaD 02-07-2010 04:28 PM

Yeah that gets old quick. AvP requires that too.

G 02-07-2010 04:29 PM

i tried the avp demo, and it wouldn't find a game. :(

Kalyx triaD 02-07-2010 04:31 PM

The matchmaking is slow, usually 3mins for me. I really hope the game hooks people up faster.

G 02-07-2010 04:32 PM

yeah i waited about 45 seconds then gave up. any game that takes that long is a def no go for me. trying to fit a full party into a match i can understand, but a single person is just awful.

RoXer 02-08-2010 04:13 PM

You think I ain't worth a dollar but I feel like a millionaire

G 02-12-2010 03:49 PM

Like they did with MW2, Amazon has it for $57 with a $20 video game credit. Gonna place my pre order here soon.

The Destroyer 02-18-2010 02:10 PM

I'm enjoying the demo a lot more now I've gone back and played it some more. No more choppiness or getting stuck on scenery either, which can only be good.

Might pick this up when it comes out.

The Jayman 02-18-2010 02:29 PM

hopefully this will be a breath of fresh air after MW2

The Destroyer 02-18-2010 02:31 PM

I think that's why I didn't like it at first - I'd gotten so used to the fairly enclosed MW2 maps that it seemed strange having huge expansive maps.

Kalyx triaD 02-18-2010 02:33 PM

It's better.

The Destroyer 02-18-2010 02:48 PM

That and the fact I was pretty crap at it to begin with. Getting better though. :y:

CSL 02-18-2010 03:42 PM

Lack of people using headsets on this gets old, so many clowns wandering around messing it up for their teams

The Destroyer 02-18-2010 03:45 PM

Yeah I've heard virtually no voice chat in this at all (even though I don't use a headset myself, you can usually at least make out the sound of chatter).

On my last map as attackers, three guys were randomly chasing an enemy helicopter that wasn't even doing anything instead of pushing for the MCOM stations.
