So RRoD happening every two minutes is a fact, now?

I didn't take it personally. I just told you that you made yourself look dumb.

So I'm dumb because practically everyone's 360 has broken? I say we do a poll on here asking who's had the RROD. I'm sure it would be much higher than 25-30%.

All I said was that the RROD problem played a part in me deciding to go for a PS3. Sorry if it hurt your feelings.

The other line is hardly fact, either.

Fignuts 11-17-2009 09:34 PM

Guessing everyone here who has gotten the rrod has gotten it on the old models tho. And the reliability of the old models is irrelevant to the debate, since he'd be buying a new one.

The new models are still RROD prone, just far less so.

I mean, it's not the issue some make it out to be, but it is still an issue and should probably be taken as a factor. The thing is, with a 3 year warranty against it, it's definitely less threatening than it was. And faster turnaround.

But my buddy has had a console for just over a year, and it RRODed on him. The newer models are not immune. They are, however, safer. The PS3 is still safer hardware.

All that being said, I'd probably still get a 360 over a PS3 if I had it to do over, but then, I also bought two or three (Can't remember) PS2s, as well.

Savio 11-17-2009 11:31 PM

My roommates xbox360 bit the dust as well. Only system I ever had a problem with no user damage was the PS2 but they fixed it for free.

Right, because TPWW is the perfect place to do a test.

While we're at it, we'll do a test stating that if zero people have cancer that are on the boards, that means cancer is irrelevant.

The RROD is much less now than it used to be, and like people said before, if they had the RROD it's almost always on original/older models.

Are you a dick or what? Just look at the gamertags thread to see how many people here own a 360. I think that would provide more than a relevant sample.

And yeah okay whatever, I don't care what you say the rate is now, all I know is that everybody I know who has a 360 has broken. That was enough to put me off.

Kane Knight 11-18-2009 12:06 PM

You know a proper sample is more than just size, right?

Nearly 100 Xbox 360 owners in a video games forum. What would be wrong with that as a valid sample?

Kane Knight 11-18-2009 02:56 PM

Ever taken a statistics class?

Team Sheep 11-18-2009 03:23 PM

Come on then, enlighten me.

Uhhh, you're not gonna get 100 votes in a poll here. I think if you looked at a previous Gamefaqs poll regarding this would be better, since there were probably 50k votes. And there it was like 30-40%. I THINK DON'T QUOTE ME

G 11-18-2009 04:37 PM

This was back in March of 08.

Poll of the Day

Have you or anyone you know lost an Xbox 360 to the Red Ring of Death?

<table class="poll"><colgroup> <col class="question"> <col class="percent"> <col class="bar"> <col class="votes"> </colgroup> <tbody><tr> <th>Yes, I've personally experienced this</th> <td>22.26%</td> <td>
</td> <td>22995</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Yes, I have multiple friends who have had RRODs</th> <td>17.96%</td> <td>
</td> <td>18551</td> </tr> <tr> <th>Yes, I know one friend whose console died</th> <td>15.96%</td> <td>
</td> <td>16490</td> </tr> <tr> <th>No, but I've sure read about a lot of them</th> <td>24.69%</td> <td>

Well I just said nearly 100 because that's how many gamertags are listed.

There we are then. 56.18% of that poll says it's been experienced. Considerably more than 25-30%...

The Mask 11-18-2009 05:00 PM

i'm pretty sure you can only count the "yes i've personally experienced this" answer to that one, einstein.

Emperor Smeat 11-18-2009 07:06 PM

Even then the poll would be open to anyone so no real accuracy on any category since you going to get honest people voting, people who hate the xbox 360/MS, people who don't believe its even possible and defend against the accusations, and people just goofing around and randomly picking a category.

Today the UK Xbox 360 study/poll got released saying about 60% of the voters had issues with RRoD but even the poll itself said the results were not accurate or a fair sample.

Why am I even here?

I own both, so I could care less which is better.

Team Sheep 11-19-2009 10:26 AM

I don't even know how anyone can argue that the RROD has been a big problem and many people have been widely effected.

The Mask 11-19-2009 11:06 AM

it is pretty depressing to know one day it probably isn't going to work anymore when i can still break out my C64 and play that if the mood takes me.

People aren't denying that it's a problem. They're just arguing your statement of ''50-60%'' when it's closer to 20-30 percent.

G 11-19-2009 04:45 PM

I'm denying it's a problem. That poll was obviously taken by Sony employees.
