I thought the writers were just showing us it was like a "Gladiator" type of "sport". Now that I realize that, it shows the security guard basically got bored of watching.

Clearly there is some metaphysical crosstime thing going on where "all of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again" and the wrestlers are going to be dragged into combat with the myriad forces of the universe, some who wish to make sure everything repeats while the others want existence to take a different turn.

Or maybe not.

I actually DO like the guy who is writing the series though. Keith Champagne. He's actually more an artist then a writer, but he's written a few things, all of which I have enjoyed.

yo lock jaw, what has he written?

It will be written by Keith Champagne (Justice Society, Green Lantern Corpse, World War III), with art by Andy Smith.

The story will be set in a new fictional universe in which a ruthless Shadow King is obsessed with the WWE as he battles the Firstborn, who might be a member of the WWE.

Superstars that will appear in the book include Triple H, Undertaker, Randy Orton, Batista, Shawn Michaels, Big Show, John Cena, CM Punk, Kane, Edge, Chris Jericho, Matt Hardy, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Carlito, Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler and Kelly Kelly.

A couple issues of JSA, a couple of Green Lantern Corps, and is currently co-writing The Mighty (which is pretty awesome). Don't ask me which ones though. Look them up yourself. He may or may not have written other stuff too.

Oh? He wrote that World War III thing? That was kind of a stinker. Though he was given a stinker of an "event" to write.

Synopsis:
Issue #1 reveals an eternal rivalry set against the backdrop of the history of WWE. Why is the ruthless Shadow King so obsessed with the WWE? What is the reason for his eternal and supernatural war with the Firstborn? And could his ancient opponent really be a member of the WWE roster?

Some choice quotes from the creative team:

Andy Smith -- Artist
What was special for you about this project?
I think the WWE is the closest thing to live comic books as you can get!

Why should readers pick up the WWE comic?
Because it is super cool! Seriously though, it's a high action story with some supernatural themes that will appeal to the straightforward super hero type readers, as well as die hard WWE fans!

Keith Champagne -- Writer
What's your favourite scene from the comic?
I've got two, the cliffhangers at the end of the first and second issues. The end of the first issue, I hope, will make the reader go, "Whoah! Didn't see that coming!" and the end of the second issue is really the moment where it becomes clear that we're not just throwing muck at a wall to see what sticks. There's a bigger plan beginning to unfold.

Liam Sharp -- Cover Artist
Where did you get your inspiration for the cover image?
I think it came from three sources--one was a Sean Connery Bond movie poster provided by the client, the next are classic Barbarian-style paintings by Frazetta et al, and finally there's the kind of showbiz glitz you get with big league wrestling, so it had to have a good slice of that cheese and not take itself too seriously!

Who would've thought spandex panties are great for fighting the undead.

Issue #2 preview:

There is only one place for our eternal champions to end up - Wrestlemania! What will the stars of the WWE do when mystical terrorists grab the ringside seats Will Triple H, John Cena, and the Undertaker be able to stop heavily-armed, mysterious bad guys? And how do these unforgettable events tie into the centuries-old face-off between the Shadow King and the King of Kings?

Just downloaded and read the first two issues. It is actually kind of interesting.

Spoilers for the second issue:

SPOILER: show
Chris Jericho and Triple H are both killed by a cult of terrorists. Triple H is probably gonna be resurrected though, and become the real King of Kings.

Also, I saw an "Al Snow" sign in the crowd.
