Mr. Nerfect 01-22-2010 02:38 AM

I'm yet to see Jordan wrestle. And I'm not saying that I would be doing what TNA is doing with OJ. I'd have put The Pope over in a second. Or at least have Jordan win with help from Desmond Wolfe, to continue that feud, and so Pope has excuses. Not that Pope makes excuses.

Skippord 01-22-2010 04:00 AM

Pope has another confusing match next week that I want to discuss with someone

Mr. Nerfect 01-22-2010 04:11 AM

Is this the one where he went over AJ Styles in the non-title match? It makes little sense, but it's a good thing for Pope.

Skippord 01-22-2010 04:13 AM

I believe so

but if you think about it now Orlando Jordan beat someone who beat the TNA World Champion

The Mackem 01-22-2010 04:35 AM

non-sensical, short term booking...they used to do the same in WCW.

Mr. Nerfect 01-22-2010 04:48 AM

They should have put Pope over Orlando Jordan cleanly, or have had Desmond Wolfe cost Dinero the match. That way OJ benefits, so let's say they do that. Dinero and Wolfe can meet up in the Against All Odds Tournament, and Dinero can get some revenge there. That way, he could have defeated AJ Styles in a "preview match" of what the tournament could offer. Jordan could then gloat about how he beat Dinero, and D'Angelo can knock him on his ass in a rematch.

Pope is amazing, and this would have been a tremendous way to use him. But oh well.

Indifferent Clox 01-22-2010 05:19 AM

How do you know it's nonsensical nd short term? mybe they just want to show that anyone can at anytime beat anyone else so it's more surprising. I mean it's not like they've given anybody a meningless 'streak' gimmick only for the to lose 2 weeks later.

The Mackem 01-22-2010 05:48 AM

I'd be more upbeat about it if TNA did not feel like WCW all over again from the same old people seemingly do the same old things.

* Before the tapings started, the Impact Zone crowd was addressed by members of the TNA staff. They talked to the crowd about not cursing, making obscene gestures, or gang signs. They called the crowd 'cast members' and basically told the crowd that they needed to be quiet.

And people mock the WWE for taking fan signs etc

* Hernandez and Matt Morgan defeated The British Invasion to retain the TNA Tag Titles. During the match, Rob Terry came out and had his X Division Title shot briefcase. Brutus tried to use the briefcase on Hernandez during the match, but he missed and hit Doug Williams instead. Hernandez pinned Williams.

If used to build tension in the team good, otherwise just an unclean finish

* After the match, Mick Foley came out and he hit Rob Terry with a chair. After Hernandez and Morgan left the ring, Foley said something to the camera that could not be heard by the crowd.

Established name levelling an up and comer...don't see what that achieves.

* After pyro goes off, Ric Flair comes to the ring with two women. Flair says that he hates Hulk Hogan, but he loves TNA. Flair says that he is here to find the next 'Nature Boy'. Flair then brings out the 'next heavyweight champion' A.J. Styles. Styles comes to the ring in a suit and he is accompanied by a woman. Styles puts over the beautiful women in the ring and then the crowd chants 'You are married'. This causes Styles to laugh and there was an awkward pause. A.J. cuts a promo that utilized a style similar to his new mentor.

Styles needs a gimmick...apparently...let's give him the Nature Boy's one...not much to live up to there

* Kurt Angle comes to the ring with Hulk Hogan. Hogan says that he has changed his mind about Genesis being Angle's last title shot because he runs the show. Hogan announces that Kurt Angle versus A.J. Styles will happen tonight. Hogan says that it is 'damn real'.

Genesis stipulation was pointless, let's forget about it and move on.

* Orlando Jordan defeats D'Angelo Dinero with a Flatliner.

Wow

* It was announced that Ken Anderson will face Jeff Jarrett tonight.

Because we can't build our own stars, we have to continuously bring in WWE rejects

* Angelina Love defeated Madison Rayne after a bicycle kick. After the match, Love ripped Madison's shirt off and choked her with it. Velvet and Lacey come to the ring and they attack Love with the 'ugly stick'.

At least they try with the division

* Hogan and Bischoff come out. They are tired of The Band running around and they want to see them wrestle. The Band come out and Waltman is smoking. Hogan says that since they don't have contracts, they don't have contracts, they don't work for TNA. Hogan has security escort them out of the building.

What year is it?

* Nasty Boys defeated Kevin Nash and Eric Young when Saggs pinned Young after a pumphandle drop.

What year is it?

* Mr. Anderson comes to the ring to cut a promo. He talks about his victory over Abyss at Genesis. Abyss is standing behind him and he attacks Anderson until Anderson is able to get out of the ring.

At least Abyss gets some of his heat back

* A.J. Styles defeated Kurt Angle with an ankle lock. This match was described as an 'Orlando Screw Job'. Earl Hebner was the referee for this match and he had them ring the bell. Styles, Flair, and Hebner left the ringside area. After the match, Hulk Hogan came out and Angle spat in his face. Angle went to the announce table and took Mike Tenay's chair and throw it into the stage.

Wow...just wow

* Eric Bischoff comes out with blood on his forehead and states that Mick Foley is fired and then he leaves.

WCW weekly firing esque

* In an Xplosion Match: Dr. Stevie defeated Homicide with a Stevie-T.

WWE reject over

* Desmond Wolfe defeated Sean Morley with the Tower of London. This was a qualifying match for a tournament at Against All Odds to determine the number one contender for the TNA World Heavyweight Title at Lockdown.

Good

* Hernandez defeated Daniels in another qualifying match for the tournament at Against All Odds.

Poor Daniels

* Ken Anderson defeats Jeff Jarrett after a low blow. Jarrett tried for the Stroke during the match but Anderson used the low blow. After the match, Anderson hit the Mic Check and then did his usual mic work

Another WWE reject over a TNA mainstay

There is basically nothing in that which makes me want to watch besides having a slight interest in the tournament for the number one contender. I don't know maybe it comes over better on television but I don't think this direction is going to be so great for TNA.

Skippord 01-22-2010 06:04 AM

lol at the Pumphandle Slam that Sags hit on Eric Young

looked pretty fucked up

Loose Cannon 01-22-2010 10:28 AM

I read these spoilers this week and was thinking these was horrible.

But I actually enjoyed the show last night. I thought it came off good on TV. Lots of things to keep me watching next week. I was really against that screwjob on Kurt, but fuck, Kurt and Hogan played it off pretty good and I am anxious to see where it goes.

I love AJ and Flair together. I have always been a mark for heel AJ Styles and he is finally getting the top heel spot he has always deserved. I think Angle is always better as a babyface as the fans love getting behind him. Putting Flair with AJ was pretty dam genius if you as me.

I am curious to see where the Nash/Hall/X-pac story goes. I like Nash and Young as a team. I think they work very well together. Eric Young is an amazing talent.

I could do without the Nasty Boys and Dudley Boys. They both suck.

And then you have guys like Beer Money, Morgan, Homicide and all the X Division guys that have always carried the workrate in TNA.

So far so good to me.

Mr. Nerfect 01-22-2010 02:08 PM

TNA airs tomorrow over here. I am interested to see it. You have good taste, LC, so I'm hoping for something decent. TNA's results can often sound like a mess, but things turn out pretty captivating most times. That's not to say there aren't flaws.

screech 01-22-2010 04:13 PM

I think the show comes off better on TV than in reading the spoilers. I have yet to watch this week's episode, but I am expecting better than what I read.

mike adamle 01-22-2010 10:20 PM

I watched it last night, wasn't as good as the last few weeks, but a lot better than the spoilers would lead you to think.

kareru 01-22-2010 11:08 PM

yeah, the spoilers make it sound shit, but it was a good show, lots of interesting stories going on, solid main event (exept for the screwjob) but i did laugh when kurt angle spit in hogans eye, he's not as accurate a lugi hocker as bret but he did the job well.

and as for people asking why oj went over he pope

its his debut, its almost a given that any wrestler making his/her debut gets the win, its tradition

Plus they sold how well Desmond Wolfe worked over the knee at the PPV and that was part of the reason D'Angelo lost this match. I'm fine with it anyways, but I'm pretty easy to please I guess.

See, all is not evil in the world.
