-   -   Will The Miz ever be a top tier champion? (https://www.tpwwforums.com/showthread.php?t=99616)

James Diesel 02-12-2010 01:55 PM

Sorry to break the tie :/

Rammsteinmad 02-12-2010 02:01 PM

I voted yes.

Althought the Miz right now is the same as MVP two years ago.

Innovator 02-12-2010 02:02 PM

Well in 5 years its gonna be the John, Randy, Punk, and Miz show, it'll happen sooner or later

parkmania 02-12-2010 02:10 PM

For the sake of my TV, I hope not.

Because if it does happen, the nearest heavy object will probably end up being throw through the screen.

jskinnyg 02-12-2010 03:28 PM

Yes... he can do it because he's awesome...

HeartBreakMan2k 02-12-2010 03:37 PM

Miz will be one of those guys who hangs out in the main event scene but never wins the big one. He'll be one of those guys who years later, fans will say "Oh wow... he never did win the world title did he?!".

Dave Youell 02-12-2010 04:12 PM

He should be, but I don't think he will be

Favre4Ever 02-12-2010 05:55 PM

This might be a terrible comparison, but just look at Chris Jericho. He was just breaking into the mid card a decade ago, and is VERY small. If the Miz can develop the kind of consistency Jericho maintained during his major stride, I think the sky could be the limit.

That being said, he'll never be The Rock, or Austin, or the Undertaker. Some glass ceilings just aren't made to be broken.

I voted yes as well. And I think the difference between the Miz now and MVP back then is that Miz is a Raw guy. He was drafted to Raw, and has achieved his highest levels of success on Raw. Not to mention, he's been pushed much stronger than MVP ever has since being drafted away from SmackDown!. For whatever reasons, people in creative are high on Miz.

With that said, I hope he wins one someday. he generates great heat, and is by and far their most over mid card talent. If the Miz where to win MITB and cash in befroe the year's out, imagine his reception considering the heat he's already earning.

Damian Rey 02-12-2010 06:04 PM

And sweet! I'm the current tie breaker.

Droford 02-12-2010 07:47 PM

I think eventually if he keeps improving, he should have a run with one of the titles.

addy2hotty 02-12-2010 07:52 PM

Yes, the quality of his heel work, his mic performances and his ability to work with anyone, so far, shows to me that he will be at least a short term World Champion.

McLegend 02-12-2010 07:52 PM

How can anyone say no to this? Jeff Hardy won a World title everyone thought he would ever win one.

There is no doubt in my mind he'll win a World title.

RatedGSuperstar 02-12-2010 08:43 PM

The Miz is billed as roughly the same size as C.M. Punk (a little heavier, actually). I don't really buy the "he's too small" argument.

As Punk showed, if you can make enough people pay to see you get beat, you can stay in the main event. It might take another couple years, but I can see him at least winning whatever the world title is on SmackDown at that time. Holding 2 of the 3 possible titles on the company's highest-profile show is a step in the right direction, I'd think.

Testicle 02-12-2010 08:54 PM

He has heat, which is more than 90% of the roster can say. He isn't going to fuck it up, like other potential stars have in the past (he doesn't have massive personal problems). He is not 'too small'. 6' 230 lbs is pretty big by todays wrestling standards.

That's actually a fairly standard size. HBK and Bret were both billed billed around the same during their runs. Not saying Miz is equal, but his size is not a discredit to him. He sizes up just fine.

In terms of not blowing his chance, I agree. This is guy who from day one made it clear that wrestling is what he loves and wants to do. He has the pasison for it. Look how much he has improved in such a short time.

In 4 years, the Miz has went from bumbling host and annoying personality to the best mid card heel on Raw, if not the entire company. His mic work is immense, his catchphrase is over to the point where, despite being boo'd, the audience sings along with it. And he continues to get better and better in the ring. It's all coming together.

Also, he's a legit home grown product. He was plucked out of UPW for Tough Enough, lost, still got signed, and has been given a tremendous amount of air time to develop his character on the mic and in the ring.

Honestly, if he continues to gain momentum at his current rate and creative continues to show their faith in him, it would be idiotic to not put a strap on him. It could come to a point where the fans are craving it and the E has no choice.

If Lameus could do it, so could the Miz.

GD 02-13-2010 04:51 AM

No! He was thrown out of the locker room for 6 months.

Kane Knight 02-14-2010 12:26 AM

Can a David Spade ripoff prosper in a business dominated by trends from 20 years ago? You betcha!

Anybody Thrilla 02-14-2010 08:15 AM

Yet you still voted no.

I'm still not seeing the David Spade comparison.

Mr. Nerfect 02-14-2010 08:25 AM

If you had asked me a while ago, I would have said no. I could have definitely seem him as a heel like Roddy Piper -- used to really put over top faces but never actually winning the big one himself. But now, I could see it happening. The dude is tremendous on the mic, good in the ring (arguably great at times), and gets so much heat. He's still quite young, always improving, and is finding a great niche for himself on RAW -- which is no easy feat.

Given that it has become a lot less of a selective thing to win a World Title, I can definitely see The Miz doing so. Especially if he went to SmackDown!, wrestled some great matches, kept his character, and really got some epic momentum going for him. He'd also be a perfect guy to wield the Money in the Bank briefcase. I think we're due for a face to win it, but The Miz in 2011 does not seem like a stretch.

I agree with this.

but then again I bet my friend Test would become wwf champ by 2005, and look how that worked out.

If you made that bet in 2001 or so, I couldn't blame you.

And I agree with Noid that putting the MITB briefcase on The Miz would be gold, whenever that happens. Probably too soon for him to get it this year, but I could see him as the guy that always gets knocked off the ladder by the eventual winner.

jerichoholicninja 02-14-2010 03:00 PM

I hope so but I don't think he will. He'll probably have a Kane-like career (minus the 24 hour title reign) always around the top but never on the top.

screech 02-14-2010 03:02 PM

I could see this happening. He is getting better in the ring every week and he is already great on the mic.

I would actually love to see him with the MITB briefcase. He would be great stirring the shit among the champions.

screech 02-14-2010 03:04 PM

I think a great way for Miz to win the title would be to take down Cena for it. I'd like to see him beat down Cena with the case after his matches, teasing a cash-in, but challenging him to a legit match to actually win it (via fluke rollup).

That will probably never happen, but I think it would be a great way to get the belt on Miz, if even for a short time.

Volare 02-14-2010 03:31 PM

I got a feeling they would only give him the title by MITB.

Emperor Smeat 02-14-2010 05:07 PM

Up until his current heel character, I would have said no since it seemed like Morrison was outshining him during their time as a tag team and early split into post-tag singles career.

I would put him similar to Kofi and Morrison where the WWE is doing a slow push with main event quality matches every few shows but allowing his character to build up at the same time. I doubt they would push him right now like they did with Sheamus or ruin a push like they did with MVP on RAW but continue a slow build similar to Punk that takes another year or two.
