So what if the Sedin's arent scoring? As long as the team is winning should be the main concern.
|
Quote:
Can't count the Sedin's out though. Even if all they're doing is making Weber log more minutes, they're still helping. |
The thing is, their line is being shutdown. The other team is doing their job in keeping the most dangerous (or so they think) line in check. Its what kept Toews from scoring and its what is causing the Sedin's to not be piling up the points.
People who say the Sedin's are gone when playoffs come act like its their first time watching playoff hockey. Who scored the game-winner for the Pens? Who have arguably 2 of the top 7 centers in the world playing for them (Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos, Getzlaf, Thornton and Datsyuk being the others) It wasn't either, but a grinding checker by the name of Talbot. The cup is won with your 3rd and 4th lines, because usually the top lines are locked in a stalemate with each other. |
Toews scored what...1 goal?
It's not because he was floating around or ineffective...it because The Nucks were effective in shutting him down Like you said, it's bottom 6 that make the difference. Smith was f'n gold for the Hawks all series. This is where the Nucks are really missing Maholtra. Not to take anything away from the current bottom 6 as guys like Lapierre, Higgins, Hansen have been very effective. Maholtra is a perfect 3rd line C though. |
Well when you win 63% of something where 52-55% is GOOD. You will be missed dearly.
|
Bruins already!
|
2-0 Bruins and a little over a minute has passed so far in the game.
|
Bruins again!!!!
I just got 20 second ruled. That how fast the Bruins scored |
Fuck the Flyers! Where are you Johnny Vegas?
|
 Bruins finally scored on a power play (1 for 33/34 so far in the playoffs)
5-1 Final, 3-0 series lead :D Tampa Bay also looks ready to sweep Washington with 4-2 lead late in the 3rd. |
Nobody could blow this lead... lol
|
Jawful
|
I give up on predicting East hockey...

honestly...
no one would have predicted TB sweeping the Caps, no one would have thought the B's would be up 3-0 on Philly...most likely going to sweep as well. So what happens between 2 teams playing better than they really are in the conference final? Roloson is playing like he is terminally ill. He knows his days are at an end, and he wants to go out with a bang. Timmy is playing like the Veznia goalie he is. TB has way more guns up front. Boston is way more physical. I just dont know. All I know is that I hope they kill each other before the Stanly Cup final. Just as I hope the Wings and Sharks kill each other Just as I hope the Nucks beat Nashville. Thats a lot of hoping. But I also hope I can die a happy man |
Fallen Angel predicted TBL in 4 :wavesad:

I predicted the Habs in 7 and I was a goal off. I couldn't get much closer then that.
|
Has anyone else noticed that TB has just reeled off 7 straight wins? Talk about peaking at the right time...
|
Yeah, after a 3-1 hole they came back took it in 7 then swept the Conference leaders.
Bruins and Tampa is going to be wild. |
Assuming it is Nucks/Sharks West finals...
Thorton is going to going to be Kesler's biggest challenge yet. Joe has to outweigh him by 20-30 pounds. Sedin's need to be going in that series. |
sweet I am now one Boston, SJ and Vancouver win away from getting the conference final match ups I wanted
|

Fuckin hate the Wings, BOOM.
|
Wings not dead yet.
|
Funny the Canucks organization and the NHL have banned all metro Vancouver businesses to stop using the words GO CANUCKS GO on their worksites etc. They must change it to GO NUCKS GO

:D 5-1 win and a 4-0 sweep to revenge last year's collapse to the Flyers.
To sweeten the revenge a bit more: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/__XCWUd8FFj...sBillboard.jpg Lighting vs Bruins should be a nice series although TB plays a good mix between Montreal's speed and PP quality with Flyers ability of tough hits. |
Fuck Philly!
|
HOW SWEEP IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Revenge is a dish best swept cold.
|
Love the Green Men.
|
God San Jose, why can't you sweep the Red Wings?

Sweet 2 teams I fucking hate down only one more to go.
|
Patrice Bergeron out of at least the first couple of games vs Tampa Bay due to a concussion from last night's hit.
Feel sorry for him and Savard always getting concussions and always at the worst times possible for the Bruins. |
fuck i was looking forward to the bergeron bowl

lol Sharks choking in the playoffs again
|
Wow, could the Wings actually do it?
|
damn whoever deleted CreamDream's posts for making mine look stupid lol
|
The Sharks fuckin blew it tonight. They dominated the first two periods then completely collapsed in the third. We're giving them false hope. BEAT DETROIT!
|
|
Green men are great...haters gonna hate.
Glad this Nashville series is over. 4-5 fluke goals from behind the net is the only reason they won a single game...let alone 2. That was the Nucks series top to bottom. Don't really care who wins the Wings/Sharks series...just hope they kill each other first. |
Actually...if the Wings win it coming down from 3-0 series, they're gonna be highly motivated, and that's not a good thing considering the amount of previous cup winners they have. Plus Wellfed is a douche.
|
Whoever wins the Sharks/Wings series is advancing to the Cup. The Nucks can't handle either team. Luongo is great, but too hot and cold.
|
Disagree neither Wings nor Sharks have the goalies Chicago and Nashville had. Canucks have a solid chance
|
Yeah Luongo is just miles ahead of Howard and Niemi
|
:n:

Ryan Kesler is the best player in these playoffs.
I think the Canucks will go to the finals, preferably they play SJ just from a travel perspective. They've played more periods and logged more miles than any other team. A two hour flight would be a nice change. |
Canucks over San Jose in 6
Tampa over Boston in 5 Canucks over Tampa in Game 7 double OT on a Goal by Burrows, assisted by Kesler and Danny Boy. |
Canucks against the Sharks is my hope
|
Sharks will choke this game away.
|
Another 3-0 series lead blown so far this year.
Sharks did everything good today but fell apart once Detroit tied it at 1-1. |
Fuck
|
BTW, Nucks didn't lose in regulation this year to either the Sharks or Wings.
|

How about a 12" dildo up your ass...black dildo. |

In all reality both SJ/Wings are a team I want the Nucks to face...and a team I wanted them to avoid.... Doesn't really matter though. Winning the cup isnt supose to be easy. Regardless of who we face... GO NUCKS GO!!! |
Holy motherfuck. Wings are going the distance.
|
Quote:
I am honestly still not sure who I would prefer... SJ has Thorton and Heatly, both great regular season performers, but come playoffs have showed nothing. Wings are banged up up with weaker goalie. I just cant decide. I know I hope TB beats Boston as TB plays more to the Nucks style...just not anywhere near as good. |
Quote:
They can also play a shootout style that the Sharks like... It's going to be tough...but the Nucks can still do it. I have been a life long fan, and I have never been more optimistic than I am now. the 94 series I was more excited for sure, as the Nucks were the underdogs. This is the best Nucks team in its 40 year existence. Hell...I will even go on the say this is best Canadian team EVER. With all due respect to past legends...they wouldn't even compare to stars of today. |
Daniel Sedin, Hank Sedin, Ryan Fucking Kesler, Alex Burrows, Christian Ehrhoff, Kevin Bieksa, Alex Edler, Sami Salo, Mikhail Samuelsson, Cody Hodgson.
Thats out front, In back you have a world class goalie AND a gold medal winning goalie. So yeah, I would be inclined to agree with you KKlown |
Quote:
Wait, what? No. San Jose was on their heels the entire time in that game, getting badly out shot and out played. They played terrible and there were numerous times Niemi bailed them out. How do you explain being out shot 32-13 in the first two periods |
They withstood every Detroit attack for the 1st two periods since it was expected Detroit would play very tough at home.
SJ already showed from the 1st faceoff it was willing to play for an "ugly" or cheap win by letting Detroit use up a lot of energy for their first goal. I'd assume the plan would have been for SJ to then take advantage of a tired Detroit and score what could have been the series ending goal at 1-0 but either they got soft or lazy and let Detroit back into the game at 1-1 and eventually collapsed again. |
SJ was lucky the score was as close as it was.
|
BTW, I just want to see Kevin Beiksa snapshow on somebody. I know fights don't happen in the playoff, but I love that guy and he's a beast.
|
Glass vs Lucic would be awesome :)
|
Quote:
If the Nucks can only get 1, I hope its Kevin. Erhoff is probably a better choice...but Beaker is a Nuck, he would look silly in any other jersey. Plus he is more likely to buy into the same mentality that the Sedin's, Burrows and Kesler have all bought into...you have to sign for less than value if you want to play on a consistently competitive team. All of those players signed contracts at a lower value than they could have got elsewhere. I hope Ballard can be traded. He's not a bad Dman, he just doesn't fit into the Nucks system, and he makes too much money to be a #6 Dman. Salo...hard to tell with him. He gets hurt way too often, but if he can be signed for less than 1million, it would be great to keep him. I think some team will take a chance on him like the Kings did with Willie Mitchell and offer him a contract the Nucks can't match. |
Quote:
He'd drop Lucic... |
Report from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
Since shutting it down April 20 due to a setback, Sidney Crosby still has not resumed working out. Ugh. |
ESPN had a nice stat that doesn't look good for San Jose.
Detroit's roster has about 77 games worth of Game 7 experience while most of SJ players barely have any. Not sure if they meant 77 combined at this stage of the playoffs or overall. |

|
BTW HOW ABOUT MY RUSSIANS?!?!?!?!!!!!
|
Great game tonight. Too bad Bertuzzi and Cleary got hurt, this could have been a different game.
Bring on the Sharks! |
sweet victory for the Sharks.
So I guessed 3 out of 4 correct... now, I have to do this for the teams I want to win. Sharks vs. Canucks - Canucks 6 Bruins vs. Lightning - Lightning 7 |

lol he got knocked out by Tom Kostopolous who had either lost or drawn in over 40 straight fights. Bieksa is not a good fighter at all.

Derek Boogaard was found dead at the age of 28. Wow. So sad. No word on cause of death
|
Who killed the Boogie Man?
|
Nothing has been released yet. I'm guessing something with his heart since he was such a big guy. Somebody found him dead in his apartment.
|
Love this:
He is definitely a hard nosed player, not the best fighter but that's not all he is. I think the Canucks will not sign Salo next year, Ballard ends up in the minors (i like him and love his hip checks), and Beiksa and Erhoff get resigned for like $4m each. |
Damn, RIP Boogie Man.
|
I sure as hell hope it isn't concussion related or the American sports media is going to have a field day with this.
|
RIP Boogaard
|
This sounds bad, but I pray to God is was his heart and not substance or concussion related because that'll be the end of fighting.
|
Wow, only 28. Its always crazy to think someone that is as "Big and Bad" as the Boogie man was can just be gone like that. You think of him as a man of steel. Too young to die.
|
It's a weird thing with enforcers they are prone to dying young and substance abuse problems :Boogs, Probert, Kordic, McGrattan, Debrusk, Gatez to name a few off the top of my head.

:-\ 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay.
Bruins (mostly the D and Thomas in the 1st) were horrible and "flat" against the Lightning. Only good part was Seguin nice goal in the 1st and getting the defender to trip up during the move. I thought the 8 days off would have hurt the fast-paced style of the Lightning more than the Bruins but then Tampa scored 3 goals in under 90 seconds while the Bruins were sloppy to start the game. |

Bergeron missing is a HUGE loss for them. |
