So what if the Sedin's arent scoring? As long as the team is winning should be the main concern.

Yeah, this would be a different story if the Nucks were down in the series.

Can't count the Sedin's out though. Even if all they're doing is making Weber log more minutes, they're still helping.

El Fangel 05-04-2011 07:36 PM

The thing is, their line is being shutdown. The other team is doing their job in keeping the most dangerous (or so they think) line in check. Its what kept Toews from scoring and its what is causing the Sedin's to not be piling up the points.

People who say the Sedin's are gone when playoffs come act like its their first time watching playoff hockey.

Who scored the game-winner for the Pens? Who have arguably 2 of the top 7 centers in the world playing for them (Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos, Getzlaf, Thornton and Datsyuk being the others)

It wasn't either, but a grinding checker by the name of Talbot. The cup is won with your 3rd and 4th lines, because usually the top lines are locked in a stalemate with each other.

KleptoKlown 05-04-2011 07:42 PM

Toews scored what...1 goal?

It's not because he was floating around or ineffective...it because The Nucks were effective in shutting him down

Like you said, it's bottom 6 that make the difference. Smith was f'n gold for the Hawks all series.

This is where the Nucks are really missing Maholtra. Not to take anything away from the current bottom 6 as guys like Lapierre, Higgins, Hansen have been very effective. Maholtra is a perfect 3rd line C though.

El Fangel 05-04-2011 08:03 PM

Well when you win 63% of something where 52-55% is GOOD. You will be missed dearly.

RP 05-04-2011 08:12 PM

Bruins already!

Emperor Smeat 05-04-2011 08:13 PM

2-0 Bruins and a little over a minute has passed so far in the game.

RP 05-04-2011 08:14 PM

Bruins again!!!!

I just got 20 second ruled. That how fast the Bruins scored

El Fangel 05-04-2011 08:31 PM

Fuck the Flyers! Where are you Johnny Vegas?

Emperor Smeat 05-04-2011 10:39 PM

 Bruins finally scored on a power play (1 for 33/34 so far in the playoffs)

5-1 Final, 3-0 series lead :D

Tampa Bay also looks ready to sweep Washington with 4-2 lead late in the 3rd.

The games were pretty close in that series last year even though we won the first three. That gave us a false sense of security. The Bruins were banged up to all hell in that series last year. I'm pretty sure we'll be taking it 4-0 in the next game. We're healthy and our goalie is kicking some serious ass and I think it's a safe assumption that we got this.

KleptoKlown 05-05-2011 12:07 AM

honestly...

no one would have predicted TB sweeping the Caps, no one would have thought the B's would be up 3-0 on Philly...most likely going to sweep as well.

So what happens between 2 teams playing better than they really are in the conference final?

Roloson is playing like he is terminally ill. He knows his days are at an end, and he wants to go out with a bang.

Timmy is playing like the Veznia goalie he is.

TB has way more guns up front.

Boston is way more physical.

I just dont know.

All I know is that I hope they kill each other before the Stanly Cup final.
Just as I hope the Wings and Sharks kill each other
Just as I hope the Nucks beat Nashville.

Thats a lot of hoping.

But I also hope I can die a happy man

Has anyone else noticed that TB has just reeled off 7 straight wins? Talk about peaking at the right time...

El Fangel 05-05-2011 06:16 PM

Yeah, after a 3-1 hole they came back took it in 7 then swept the Conference leaders.

Bruins and Tampa is going to be wild.

KleptoKlown 05-05-2011 07:49 PM

Assuming it is Nucks/Sharks West finals...

Thorton is going to going to be Kesler's biggest challenge yet. Joe has to outweigh him by 20-30 pounds. Sedin's need to be going in that series.

Lara Emily 05-06-2011 12:25 AM

Funny the Canucks organization and the NHL have banned all metro Vancouver businesses to stop using the words GO CANUCKS GO on their worksites etc. They must change it to GO NUCKS GO

http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images...jpg?1304317153

Quote:

Anyone who follows the NHL, or more specifically the Vancouver Canucks, has probably seen the antics of the now infamous Green Men who wear neon green bodysuits at Canucks games.

The Green Men, nicknamed Force and Sully, have been sitting, dancing, hand-standing, crotch-pressing, and generally mocking opposing players beside the opposing team's penalty box at various games for almost 17 months now.

It’s gotten to the point where they’ve almost become local celebrities in Vancouver and they’ve even been involved with several promotions put on by the Canucks, including fan fest events and autograph signings.

They have been praised around the sports world for their entertaining and creative ways of cheering on their team and trying to psyche-out the opposition. In addition to the local and national media coverage they have received in Canada, the Green Men have also been referenced on the hit ESPN talk show Pardon The Interruption. Furthermore, they recently had a story done about them on the ESPN show E:60 and just the other day, Reggie Bush of all people sent out a tweet praising their work.

So you’d think the NHL’s front office would be on board with the Green Men and would welcome the attention the league is getting, right?

Wrong.

The NHL has apparently asked the Green Men to tone down their antics at future games. Specifically, they’ve been asked not to touch the glass of the penalty box and perform handstands against it.

There is no confirmation on whether league officials took it upon themselves to contact Force and Sully, or if a complaint was filed to the league by the Nashville Predators, the Canucks current playoff opponent.

Either way, this ridiculous demand by the NHL is the latest example of a league that is completely out of touch with its fans and lacks any common sense when it comes to many of its decisions.

Perhaps the NHL is trying to take a run at the NFL for the title of "No Fun League." I can’t really think of a similar acronym that goes with N-H-L. "No Humour League?" That one could work. After all, only a bunch of people with no sense of humour whatsoever can tell the most popular fans in the entire league to stop doing what has made them and the league so popular.

After all, the Green Men aren’t doing anything that other fans aren’t allowed to do at games. Fans who sit near the boards have been banging on the glass at hockey games for decades now. Is the NHL going to suddenly invoke a ban on spectators touching the glass? Of course they’re not.

Are they suddenly going to ban ticket holders from bringing signs or cardboard cut-outs to NHL games as well? No.

So why single out the Green Men?

Perhaps NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman is just really grossed out by the sight of two neon green crotches and rear ends pressed up against the glass at Canuck games and he wants it to stop. Or perhaps he just doesn’t like the Canucks organization.

Both of those explanations seem far-fetched, but there is a theory among some Canucks fans that the NHL front office is conspiring against the hockey club. I’ve never bought into it myself, but it’s interesting to think about when you consider the Green Men story along with a couple of other bizarre cease and desist orders the NHL issued recently involving the Canucks.

One of the orders was given to a Vancouver car dealership telling them to remove a “Go Canucks Go” sign from their window along with the Canucks logo because the slogan and the team’s logo are protected by copyright.

But what about all the other businesses around North America promoting their respective NHL clubs by displaying team logos and slogans? Are you telling me there isn’t a car dealership in Detroit with a Red Wings logo in its window or a bar in Philadelphia with a Flyers logo somewhere inside? I guess the league watchdogs are only watching over the city of Vancouver when it comes to cracking down on fan enthusiasm that ultimately promotes the NHL.

The other cease and desist order was handed down to Vancouver radio station Rock 101 for a fun promotion where fans could smash an old van sporting a Chicago Blackhawks or Nashville Predators logo with a sledgehammer. For some reason, that didn’t fly with the NHL either, even though, once again, it was only meant to promote fan enthusiasm for the Canucks and the NHL playoffs. Oh and did I mention that this promotion was also a fundraiser for the Make-a-Wish foundation?

The NHL front office really needs to give their collective heads a shake on that one.

The 2011 Stanley Cup playoffs are not even three weeks old and the NHL has already issued three separated warnings to fans and businesses in the city of Vancouver to essentially tone down the excitement over the Canucks. So while it’s probably a bit much to think the league is conspiring against the Canucks winning the Stanley Cup, at the very least they seem to be doing their best to ruin the celebration amongst Canucks fans

Green men are great...haters gonna hate.

Glad this Nashville series is over. 4-5 fluke goals from behind the net is the only reason they won a single game...let alone 2. That was the Nucks series top to bottom.

Don't really care who wins the Wings/Sharks series...just hope they kill each other first.

KleptoKlown 05-10-2011 02:14 AM

Actually...if the Wings win it coming down from 3-0 series, they're gonna be highly motivated, and that's not a good thing considering the amount of previous cup winners they have. Plus Wellfed is a douche.

Ryan Kesler is the best player in these playoffs.

I think the Canucks will go to the finals, preferably they play SJ just from a travel perspective. They've played more periods and logged more miles than any other team. A two hour flight would be a nice change.

You actually bring up a great point. No other team travels as many KM as the Nucks. Sure it would be nice to take a "bus ride down the road" to SJ, but during a long series the lengthy flights would favour the Nucks over the Wings...the Nucks are used to it. Wings are really and Eastern team...

In all reality both SJ/Wings are a team I want the Nucks to face...and a team I wanted them to avoid....

Doesn't really matter though. Winning the cup isnt supose to be easy.

Regardless of who we face...

SJ has Thorton and Heatly, both great regular season performers, but come playoffs have showed nothing.

Wings are banged up up with weaker goalie.

Even if the Wings beat Sj... Despite the Nucks reputation they CAN play a physical game, the can grind and wear down the Wings. Higgins and Lapierre are looking like brilliant deadline pickups.

They can also play a shootout style that the Sharks like...

It's going to be tough...but the Nucks can still do it.

I have been a life long fan, and I have never been more optimistic than I am now.

the 94 series I was more excited for sure, as the Nucks were the underdogs. This is the best Nucks team in its 40 year existence.

Hell...I will even go on the say this is best Canadian team EVER.

With all due respect to past legends...they wouldn't even compare to stars of today.

Daniel Sedin, Hank Sedin, Ryan Fucking Kesler, Alex Burrows, Christian Ehrhoff, Kevin Bieksa, Alex Edler, Sami Salo, Mikhail Samuelsson, Cody Hodgson.

Wait, what? No. San Jose was on their heels the entire time in that game, getting badly out shot and out played. They played terrible and there were numerous times Niemi bailed them out. How do you explain being out shot 32-13 in the first two periods

Emperor Smeat 05-11-2011 03:13 AM

They withstood every Detroit attack for the 1st two periods since it was expected Detroit would play very tough at home.

SJ already showed from the 1st faceoff it was willing to play for an "ugly" or cheap win by letting Detroit use up a lot of energy for their first goal.

I'd assume the plan would have been for SJ to then take advantage of a tired Detroit and score what could have been the series ending goal at 1-0 but either they got soft or lazy and let Detroit back into the game at 1-1 and eventually collapsed again.

YOUR Hero 05-11-2011 04:22 PM

Salo Erhoff and Beaker are all UFA agents this summer.

If the Nucks can only get 1, I hope its Kevin.

Erhoff is probably a better choice...but Beaker is a Nuck, he would look silly in any other jersey. Plus he is more likely to buy into the same mentality that the Sedin's, Burrows and Kesler have all bought into...you have to sign for less than value if you want to play on a consistently competitive team. All of those players signed contracts at a lower value than they could have got elsewhere.

I hope Ballard can be traded. He's not a bad Dman, he just doesn't fit into the Nucks system, and he makes too much money to be a #6 Dman.

Salo...hard to tell with him. He gets hurt way too often, but if he can be signed for less than 1million, it would be great to keep him. I think some team will take a chance on him like the Kings did with Willie Mitchell and offer him a contract the Nucks can't match.

ESPN had a nice stat that doesn't look good for San Jose.

Detroit's roster has about 77 games worth of Game 7 experience while most of SJ players barely have any. Not sure if they meant 77 combined at this stage of the playoffs or overall.

This sounds bad, but I pray to God is was his heart and not substance or concussion related because that'll be the end of fighting.

Wow, only 28. Its always crazy to think someone that is as "Big and Bad" as the Boogie man was can just be gone like that. You think of him as a man of steel. Too young to die.

It's a weird thing with enforcers they are prone to dying young and substance abuse problems :Boogs, Probert, Kordic, McGrattan, Debrusk, Gatez to name a few off the top of my head.

Sorry, but I'm gonna have to disagree. I hope it IS the end of fighting. I watch hockey to see guys try to put a piece of frozen rubber into a net. If I wanted that other stuff, I'd watch boxing or UFC.

Ugh. You are definitley in the minority. The fans love it, the players love it. It should never leave.

:-\ 5-2 loss to Tampa Bay.

Bruins (mostly the D and Thomas in the 1st) were horrible and "flat" against the Lightning. Only good part was Seguin nice goal in the 1st and getting the defender to trip up during the move.

I thought the 8 days off would have hurt the fast-paced style of the Lightning more than the Bruins but then Tampa scored 3 goals in under 90 seconds while the Bruins were sloppy to start the game.

Don't blame the D and Thomas, blame the fact Krejci is the only guy on the team who is really good at face-offs and he wasnt tonight.

Bergeron missing is a HUGE loss for them.
