I think they're the best team going into this season, and I think they're going to be good for a while, but if Wilson goes down, who's a big reason why that team is so good, and they have a couple of key injuries in the defensive line or secondary or offensive line, then all of a sudden that team loosens up quite a bit and you have a situation where a team that started out the season 6-1 is now 8-7 and on their third string quarterback. Green Bay last year after Rodgers went down is a good example of that sort of thing. Stuff like that happens to at least one powerhouse team every year, but experts and fans like to sweep those variables out of sight because it messes with this false sense of equilibrium they develop before the season starts. And if the 49ers are really good, and you have one of those wild card races where there's a division with three 10-5 teams in it, then Seattle could easily be the odd man out under the right circumstances. That applies to every other team in the league as well.

DaveBrawl 09-02-2014 01:31 PM

Droford definitely called Baltimore winning the Super Bowl before the season even started...of course he did the same last season and every season prior to the one they won, but he did call it.

"If their starting QB and three key defensive players get injured, they will have a hard time making playoffs"

-statements that could be made for literally any season of any NFL team in any era in any city of all time ever

come on

road doggy dogg 09-02-2014 01:41 PM

Like I GET IT, a "what if... ?" scenario could derail the Seahawks

Same shit is just as, if not MORE likely to happen to the 49ers, Broncos, Patriots, Eagles, Colts, Bengals, Chargers (wow AFC feels loaded this year), Cardinals, Packers, or literally EVERY TEAM in the league

There is nothing to even begin to remotely suggest that Russel Wilson will all of a sudden become an injury risk. These arguments are ridiculous

DrA 09-02-2014 01:50 PM

You know what, I agree, no argument from me. I don't think that's going to happen with Seattle.

Heisenberg 09-02-2014 02:06 PM

Packers over the Seahawks, this Thursday on WCW Thunder, bet on that

road doggy dogg 09-02-2014 02:08 PM

What's the line? Hawks by 6? I like the Packers this year but Seattle is the one team in pro sports that has a legit home field advantage. Will be very tough to pull off but definitely would be a statement game for the Pack

screech 09-02-2014 02:28 PM

Is the game on NBC? Hope so. Wanna see it

Nark Order 09-02-2014 02:32 PM

Seattle will not repeat or even win the west because I, Dustin, said so. This is not based on anything but spite.

road doggy dogg 09-02-2014 02:32 PM

Seriously want to get NFL Game Pass this year. Might split on it avec buddy of mine.

Just worried that we won't be able to watch it simultaneously. Most likely will be watching with him on Sundays but for Thursday/Monday night games I don't wanna have stupid lockout crap.

Anyone use Game Pass before? Good experience? If I'm watching on my desktop and he's on his computer/tablet can we both watch simultaneously? I know you can with mlb.tv

Actually I don't agree because Wilson doesn't have to get injured for what I'm saying to apply. Atlanta last year might be a better example because Matt Ryan played all 16 games even though they went 4-12 and literally everyone picked them to be good (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap200...l-reign-in-nfc). And it isn't a ridiculous argument to make because it happens to at least one top team in the NFL every year, teams that seem to have the depth and the inability to be bad, but they start with a couple of early losses, have the wrong injuries at the wrong time and just never get their act together. I think it's more likely to happen to a team like Denver or San Francisco, but I don't think it's inconceivable to think that it could happen to Seattle, they've been good for two seasons but I don't that's enough to determine whether they're capable of having a down year.

road doggy dogg 09-02-2014 03:02 PM

The Falcons though you could make the argument that the other shoe was bound to drop. They mortgaged their future when they made the Julio trade, basically becoming a "stars and scrubs" type of team (just like my beloved Tigers), and when one of those stars (Julio) went down, it crippled them.

Seattle isn't in such a position. They have a ton of depth at key spots. They could have a down year, sure, but I would be incredibly surprised if they win less than 9 games

Nervous Ferret 09-02-2014 03:16 PM

Annoying that anyone ever thinks they know anything

Ravens all the way this year..

the only thing I called so far was they'd win the division, I haven't picked a SB winner yet.

The Home team in the Thursday opener has won every game since they started the Thursday opener. It used to be the defending SB Champ won every game but then the Orioles screwed over the Ravens last year. Given Seattle's home field advantage I don't see that changing.

Cowboys Weaknesses: Owner willing to lend all his time, money, and expertise to team; Opponents could potentially exploit holes in Cowboys defense by running, passing ball

I'm predicting, your prediction. It's like Inception only not 3 hours of mind numbing boring tripe...like 10 seconds tops.

Droford 09-02-2014 06:26 PM

Ravens are better overall than they were in 2012, especially on defense but it would surprise me if they get to the Super Bowl. The offense was the problem last year and most of the blame was on Ray Rice being awful but at least for the preseason they've shown the ability to run the ball. Also I don't think everyone knew how important Pitta was to Flacco until he missed most of last year, so having him healthy is a huge plus.

Wes Welker gets 4 games for amphetamines..

I'm not sure the Ravens would have won that one at home, either.

Cowboys bringing in Michael Sam for a physical. Looking like he'll be signed to the practice squad. Droford's homophobia about to reach overload if it hasn't already.

They wouldn't have played Denver in Baltimore. It was going to be the Patriots. and yes, I know they got blown out of that game worse than the Denver game.

Wonder how much that is going to affect his planned appearance on RAW next week. Can't really vent about stuff without looking bad while anything else is going to come off as WWE joining the bandwagon late.

Droford 09-02-2014 08:35 PM

I'll boo him if he shows up in Baltimore as a member of the Cowboys

Hopefully the rest of the crowd will too.

screech 09-02-2014 09:00 PM

"I'm only booing him because he's on the Cowboys, honest!"

Droford 09-02-2014 09:17 PM

The only thing worse would be if he signed with the Steelers, which would be funny cause the Steelers will be in Baltimore for the game next Thursday.

#1-norm-fan 09-02-2014 10:37 PM

That would be extremely funny, huh?

Giants officially place Geoff Schwartz on IR/Designated to Return and sign Adam Snyder to the 53-man roster.

Snyder graded out as one of the worst guards in football the past few years, so he should fit right in with this current group.

Luck 2 years 8196 yards 46/27 81.5 rat. 22-10 1-2 playoff
Dalton 3 years 11360 yards 80/49 88.5 rat 30-18 0-3 playoff

Luck averages more yards, less interceptions, more wins and even has a playoff win, but they're both relatively the same. He'll be paid more than Dalton when his contract comes up too.

screech 09-03-2014 05:23 PM

Would much rather have Luck than Dalton. Not even close.

The one thing that gets me is swap the teams and imagine how good Luck would be with the Bengals vs how good Dalton would be with the Colts. It'd be even more lopsided.
