Guess what? Apparently Matt got arrested for ANOTHER DWI...or so I've heard

Xero 09-14-2011 02:05 PM

From ProWrestling.net. I'll wait for confirmation from a major site, but I believe it.

Former WWE/TNA star Matt Hardy arrested on another DWI charge
Sep 14, 2011 - 11:37 AM

By Chris Shore and Jason Powell

Former WWE and TNA wrestler Matt Hardy was arrested in Raleigh, North Carolina on a DWI charge. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 30.

Powell's POV: Rumors have been circulating since Monday that Hardy was arrested again, and we have now confirmed the news with police officials. Hardy was previously arrested and charged with DWI in Moore County last month. We should have additional details on the latest arrest later today.

Xero 09-14-2011 02:07 PM

From Matt's Twitter:

For the first time in my life, I was framed.. 0, 0, and O.. I'm truly appalled. This will not go down without a fight! Looks like I've got a bull's eye on my head.

TNA/Hulk Hogan/Impact *SPOILER*

SPOILER: show

In the final segment of the night, Hulk Hogan came to the ring and he says that he feels like he has had a million pounds lifted off of his shoulders. After some soul searching, he said the Hulkamania run is the best run of all time. Hogan mentions how the first day he got in the business, he broke his leg. Hogan says that he learned respect and the ropes of the business. He talks about how he faced Andre the Giant, and sold out Madison Square Garden many times. At the end of the day, Hulkamania could go on forever.

Hogan said that he had the chance of a lifetime to come to Impact Wrestling with three decades of knowledge and change Impact Wrestling. Hogan mentions that he has been here for almost two years and every moment has been worth it, including watching names like Bobby Roode, James Storm, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Rob Van Dam step up.
Hogan says that unfortunately it is the end of the road for him. Hogan says that he wanted to tell his fans first, even before his wife. When he lost his family and his health, the only thing he didn’t lose was the fans. No matter how bad it got, he knew the fans would still be there. Hogan says that he made the decision that his run is done and says that Bobby Roode, James Storm, and AJ Styles are the stars of the future.

Hogan says that he is inviting everyone to come to Knoxville next week for a formal announcement because that will be the last time that we see him in this ring. Hogan leaves.

“@BretHart: Here's a question for you all: Do you consider wrestlers athletes?” Interesting. I want in on this.

Innovator 09-15-2011 01:24 PM

What Punk was referring to:

Quote:

Moviefone: How do you think WWE and pro wrestling needs to evolve as UFC and MMA grows in popularity?

Triple H: I don't think we have to evolve. It's two totally different things. I think now especially there's this thing like, "oh it's very similar."

I don't see us needing to evolve to what UFC does because quite frankly sometimes the fights are long and boring, guys lying around and sometimes the fights are fast and over in five seconds. I've always thought one of the things about us, if you look at us solely from a sports standpoint, is that we always give you a good show. We're never going to give you a crap game.

I think if anybody needs to evolve, it's them. Give more of an entertainment standpoint. Give more form; they just have fighters who walk in in T-shirts and shorts and just stand there and then they fight and then they win and then they go "thanks, I'd like to thank my sponsors" and then they leave. The whole world was up in arms when Brock was flipping people off and was cussing at the beer company because they didn't give him any money and everyone thought, "oh my god, he's disrespectful," -- the whole world was talking about it. They couldn't wait to see him get beat up. And then he did well, and he beat some guys and then people jump on his bandwagon going "Brock's the greatest." I'm good friends with Floyd Mayweather and Floyd would be the first to tell ya, "I make the most money in boxing and I have the biggest buyers because I have the biggest mouth." He'd be the first guy to tell you that. That's what it's about. Sports is entertainment.

Xero 09-15-2011 01:52 PM

"I don't think we have to evolve."

This is, quite possibly, the most horrifying thing I've heard out of his mouth pertaining to running the company. This is the man that is going to be the head of the company, and he has a mindset of not having to evolve.

Innovator 09-15-2011 02:02 PM

Rammsteinmad 09-15-2011 04:36 PM

How CAN wrestling evolve exactly? What would you like to see happen?

Xero 09-15-2011 04:47 PM

Everything needs to move and evolve with the times, otherwise they're doomed to fail. I'm not saying they should scrap Sports Entertainment, because, honestly, I feel that's the only way pro wrestling will be able to sustain itself on a global or even national scale.

If wrestling now was exactly as it was in, say, the 70s, it wouldn't be anywhere near the popularity it is now. There's always a natural evolution. WWE (not pro wrestling) as it stands, won't be around for more than 10 years on the level they are if they stagnated. If they kept with the way they build their talent, especially. It's not something that has to happen now, but any business that doesn't realize that evolution is a very large part of staying relevant and successful is destined to fail.

Does Triple H really believe that what they're doing now is fine? I don't know. Maybe it was just a front to make the office (read: Vince) happy. But the down turn in buy rates and ratings is something that can't be ignored, and suggests that without evolution of some kind, things will take a turn for the worst in the future.

Saying that UFC, which a lot of the time does more buys, up to 100%+ more, than WWE, needs to evolve because it's "boring" is just an ignorant statement from Triple H and makes the company look like desperation from the midget trying to take a shot at the guy who's 6'8 and 350lbs. It honestly makes them look like WCW or TNA to WWE. Hell, it can even be compared to how WWE was taking shots at WCW when they were down, with the "Billionaire Ted" skits. The difference there was that WWE was on the verge of losing the battle legit. Here, WWE is a big enough entity that they aren't going to go down anytime soon. But, long term, it's a problem.

And, while they're different, WWE and UFC (and MMA in general) share a common fanbase. I don't think it's like 50% of MMA fans would watch WWE if it were cool/entertaining to them, but it's big enough that UFC is a legitimate competitor, and in that sense, WWE is losing.

Blakeamus 09-15-2011 05:15 PM

When I first read his statement about not evolving, I thought of not evolving WWE into MMA in their product.

But I totally agree with what you said Xero.

At Monday's TNA Impact Wrestling tapings from Orlando, Ric Flair wrestled Sting in a match that's been described as a "disaster" by one reader who was at the show and sent in a live report. The match was so bad that many have said it has no place airing on television, considering the classic encounters between both men and what most fans will be expecting from a 'Flair vs. Sting' match.

Ric Flair reportedly injured his left arm during the match. Flair had TNA officials worried during the match after he clutched his shoulder and rolled out of the ring to re-group. Flair was icing his arm backstage after the match.

Regarding who is to blame, Flair was rusty from not wrestling lately and is in his 60's, Sting appeared to have forgotten a few spots in the match as he's been known to do, but at the end of the day, TNA are the ones who have the ultimate say and decided to book the match.

In my dream, he bought some retail space at one of the shopping centres where I live and turned it into a wrestling school.

I attended and got trained by Regal and also some former and current WWE guys came along and helped out. I remember Chris Jericho, Al Snow, D'Lo Brown, Drew McIntrye, Sheamus, John Morrison, Finlay, Chris Masters and Raven were all there.
