I think when they put Zambrano back in the rotation, he'll be hot.

Heyward got his first intentional walk yesterday. Probably has more to do with Melky hitting behind him than anything.

Loved the tazering, it was great.

"Uncle" Al Leiter and Michael Kay are really going after each other today...
|
Perhaps he will punch that bastard Michael Kaye in the face.

Yanks escaped disaster today.
Dave Robertson, what has happened to you? |
<font color=goldenrod>"Braves rookie Heyward leaves game with sore groin"
Well, that thing's been in the mouths of Braves fans for so long, it probably just got waterlogged.</font> |
You guys see what Big Vito 22 just did there?

Red Sox sweep the Angels to get back to .500, yet they can't win a game against the O's. Hopefully they take 2 out of 3 against the Yankees this weekend, but who knows. I wish Vazquez was pitching.

Milton Bradley has asked the Mariners to help him with some emotional issues.

Supposedly the 1st game against the Angels, the team had a closed door meeting to help snap out of their funk. |
Nationals Park Report
So we drove in wednesday afternoon. Left my house to drive to the Vienna-Fairfax GMU metro station. We took the Orange Line ( loved this ) to L'Enfant Plaza and did backflips on the train and then switched to the Green Line and took it to Navy Yard and practically walked off and right into the whole Nationals Park area. This was not amazing. It's like a tiny street built for Nationals baseball. We ended up walking around the staidum until the game. Once we got into Nationals Park, our seats were literally the third row along the first base line, but the thing is, they were great seats. You could see everything. And no one really bought seats up there because nobody ever buys Nationals tickets so were just getting yelling at Braves fans, shooting the shit with other people in the stands and business men in suits and kids rooting for the Braves walk by constantly. Honestly, there were so many Braves fans at Nationals Park.. Fake tomahawks flopping and bouncing. It must have been go Braves day and it was not fannnnnnnnnnntastic. The game itself was great if you could get past the Luis Atilano stinch that was smellable from where we were sitting. Several lead changes. The epic moment was obviously the Nationals tying it in the 8th inning. Everyone was going nuts when he didnt get the ball 4 count, but then he crushes it and it was bonkers. When he went back out to the outfield the next innning, the crowd was going nuts for him. After the game we hung out for a bit. Got on the subway. Then got on the Orange Line and headed back, did a backflip and my friend did one backflip and one frontflip. Every place around the exit to the Metro parking lot was big time wait times. People weren't sure if they could go through the gate for SmarTrip cards only, or for credit cards, so there was mass confusion which took about 15 minutes to get out. We tried the right line. We ended up mixing in some intense honking when we were in the right line. Me and a buddy finally got out. It was decent. Great time. Washington is huge!!!!!!!!!!!!! The buildings where nowhere to be found in Southeast DC. It was kinda awesome and i cant wait to go back. |
didn't realize the Rays were in first. I've only been paying attention to the Yanks.

I love Ian Stewart almost as much as I hate Franklin Morales

The Red Sox have one more game with the Angels today . Mats is pitching against Kazmir. I don't know about the Sox taking 2 out of 3 from the Yankees. You guys are getting Hughes , CC, Burnett. All of which are having great seasons thus far. You guys will probably win one game against us. |
Yeah I just realized that there's still one game left against the Angels, so no day off before facing the Yankees.

Jays are doing about what I expected. Which is better than everyne thought they'd do. They aren't going anywhere, they won't make a real wildcard push, but they are not as terrible as everyone was thinking. Their pitching is 'Brand X' (not well known) but it's pretty decent, the offence isn't crappy, it lacks, but it's not terrible. I'm pretty sure they finish right around .500. That ain't bad considering the division they're in.

Blue Jays are doing better then I thought . |
<font color=goldenrod>Mets are 0-5 in the rubber game so far this season and have lost every series on the road. Hoping it's not going to be one of those years where every good homestand is then countered with a bad road trip.
Despite the loss yesterday, I'm loving Hisanori Takahashi. They've needed a guy like him in the bullpen ever since Darren Oliver wasn't re-signed after his great 2006.</font> |
3/4 of the "core 4" showing a little age. Posada, Mariano and Andy all dealing with minor injuries right now. Joba nad Cervelli have done a nice job filling in so far. Not sure if anything is too serious yet so hopefully its just normal stuff.
The Yankees rotation excluding Vazquez has been crazy so far (ERAs) - Sabathia - 2.74, Burnett - 1.99, Pettitte - 2.08 and Hughes - 1.44. Hopefully they keep this going in Boston. |
I'm actually more comfortable with Cervelli behind the plate than Posada, Jorge is getting closer and closer to Varitek with his ability to throw people out
|
Andre Ethier is pretty good.
|
Andre Ethier is the best 8 bucks I ever spent in my life.

Welcome to the bigs, Starlin Castro.

Beckett got rocked. 1 more hit batter I think there was gonna be a brawl.
|
Beckett kind of look like he gave up.
I doubt he's intentionally hitting guys with the bases loaded, but his whole attitude on the mound made some of those look deliberate. Cervelli steps out and Beckett complains and the next pitch is way inside for ball four. I'm sure he's just overthrowing but still, never saw someone lose their command over all their pitches so quickly in a game. |
<font color=goldenrod>ROD BARAJAS!
First walk-off home run since 2008</font> |

Nick Johnson to the DL, Posada and Cano are out, Pettitte is gonna miss his start. The SWB shuttle is gonna be busy. Kevin Russo got called up to be placed wherever Girardi decides to put him. 2nd, outfield, DH?
|
Os got a lot of bloop hits off Liriano (most of the 10 total) to get 5 runs off him (the first runs he's given up in a couple starts at Target Field). Was hoping for a split with the Os winning the 2nd game vs Scott Baker as a best case scenario going in but maybe they can win both now if they can hold on to this 7-3 lead in the 8th.
Really amazing how well the Os have played vs teams not named the Yankees over the past 2 weeks. 4-2 vs Red Sox, 1-0 vs the Twins, 1-4 vs the Yankees. |
The Sleeping Giant has woke up.
