Don't even get the point Droford is trying to make right now.

"Hey guys, I think Andrew Luck is better than Andy Dalton but less better than you guys think he is."

Is that it? Really?

Some people see Dalton as being as good if not better than Manning through first three years, but I see that He's an even bigger choke artist than Peyton Manning because the Bengals teams have been much better than the Colts teams Manning had to work with his first three years (which I know includes a 13-3 team in 1999).

Luck averages more yards, less interceptions, more wins and even has a playoff win, but they're both relatively the same. He'll be paid more than Dalton when his contract comes up too.

Have you SEEN Indy's roster? Without Luck they are a 3-win team, tops.

And AJ Green is light years ahead of anyone on Indy's receiving core. And this is coming from someone who really likes T.Y. Hilton

Stats-wise they may be comparable (extrapolating Luck's to 3 years) but he's done more with much less. Cinci has a top-5 defense and Indy isn't even on the radar. It's a lot easier to have good QB play under less-stressful situations, whereas Luck has literally had to carry the team to make it relevant, let alone winning back-to-back 11-win seasons.

And that's just discussing their stats. Luck is a completely different passer to Dalton. Luck may throw the best long ball in the entire NFL (you could convince me otherwise but he's among the best)

Simply for me, I apply the "Do I want him?" test. As a Lions fan, if in some fantasy hypothetical you told me right now that I could swap Stafford with Luck or Dalton and no other pieces involved, I would swap for Luck in a millisecond. No way do I make that trade with Dalton.

People were saying Mark Sanchez was better than Manning in 2010 because he "out-dueled him" in a tough playoff game.

My point: people say all sorts of stupid shit regarding Peyton

You just made my point about how much better Luck would be if he was playing for the Bengals and how much worse Dalton would be with the Colts. Thanks.

...okay? I'm not sure what your point is. I was arguing that Luck >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dalton, so if we're in agreement then high fives all around

#1-norm-fan 09-03-2014 06:25 PM

Droford making the statements no one else has the balls to make.

road doggy dogg 09-03-2014 06:31 PM

I just took umbrage with his comment that Luck is a "rich man's Dalton", because that is an insult to Luck. He is worlds better than Dalton.

kinda blah about Ray's statue. I'll need to go and see it in person for a final verdict

Nark Order 09-04-2014 06:28 PM

Was hoping the statue would depict him killing a guy, but I guess that one is pretty good too.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!

#1-norm-fan 09-04-2014 08:39 PM

Meh.

#1-norm-fan 09-04-2014 08:58 PM

Seems like Marshawn Lynch has been in the league forever and he's only 28. Can barely even remember him playing for Buffalo. He's younger than Adrian Peterson. Just seems... odd.

road doggy dogg 09-04-2014 09:01 PM

In the back of my mind him and Willis McGahee are kind of still the same person

Guys, got a confession to make.

I don't like Coach T anymore. I think he had to go.

0-1 in bets this year

great start!

#1-norm-fan 09-04-2014 11:35 PM

Seahawks are too good for football. They're probably gonna leave the league next year and start doing movies.

Droford 09-04-2014 11:36 PM

I didnt bet the game but I would be 1-0

figures

road doggy dogg 09-04-2014 11:37 PM

stick to preseason

#1-norm-fan 09-04-2014 11:38 PM

Well on the plus side you didn't lose your swagger, Droford.

Droford 09-04-2014 11:42 PM

Im going tomorrow to place my delaware parlay which will likely be Saints -2.5, Ravens -1.5, Redskins +2.5

With all the words on how banged up Cam Newton really is I might add or switch in Bucs -1.5

Im actually keeping a paper log book (green for MONEY) of all my picks this season, including games I dont actually bet money on. I started that last year but stopped sometime in November. This way I can proclaim 'DOCUMENTED 11-5 on the SPREAD!!' and maybe start selling picks next year.

Yeup. Outside of that botched punt return spot, they looked as great as they were last season.

Evil Vito 09-05-2014 12:05 AM

Bill Simmons was spot-on about why the Seahawks only have one home game in prime time next year. Networks are tired of airing blowouts.

DaveWadding 09-05-2014 12:06 AM

h8 the Seahawks.

Droford 09-05-2014 12:12 AM

I have a hate 1 team from every division rule and I currently hate the 49ers out of the NFC West so..

Other teams I hate:
Cowboys
Lions
Panthers (the NFC south really is probably the hardest to pick)
Steelers
Patriots
Broncos
Colts

It's kind of a tough line to walk though. Because on one hand, yeah blowouts are boring and they want tightly contested games.

On the other hand though, a Jacksonville-Buffalo game could be very compelling and the two could have a legit good back-and-forth game that goes to the wire, but who will care? Nobody would tune in for that.

Gotta strike the balance between competitive and meaning. I guess.

Thankfully (for the NFL) so many millions of people are invested in fantasy and gambling that they'll watch anything tbh

#1-norm-fan 09-05-2014 12:16 AM

You gonna send your pre-season picks to ESPN and try to get a job there, Droford? Pretty sure they don't currently have anyone who picks pre-season games.

road doggy dogg 09-05-2014 12:16 AM

Honestly if I wasn't a Lions fan I would hate the Lions too. They have no foundation to how they build their team. They throw shit together and try quick-fix solutions to try to copy what other teams do and it ALWAYS blows up in their face. Look at like how a team like SF is built and that is the opposite of what the Lions do. But I'm stuck with them, ah well

Picking preseason games takes some skill since you have to know the backups, position battles and coaching strategy (ie which coaches give a fuck about preseason games). Ultimately it is kind of dumb but the lines are usually easier to figure out at least in the middle 2 weeks.

You want to know the main reason I hate the Lions? Cause I have to sit through them being shitty every thanksgiving. Ravens are 2-0 on Thanksgiving, they should get the Lions spot.

#1-norm-fan 09-05-2014 12:31 AM

So you gonna try to get that ESPN job then?

Droford 09-05-2014 12:34 AM

Well, I dont think I could work the same place that Olbermann works, or even somewhere that would rehire him a 2nd time.

I have somehow, despite my terribleness at public speaking, wanted to do sports radio.

screech 09-05-2014 05:50 AM

Seahawks were not fucking around last night.

Clerk 09-05-2014 07:23 AM

Tom Brady's a washed up has been on TV selling total gyms and he's gonna lose this season llike he lost return of the dragons

Nark Order 09-05-2014 11:18 AM

Pretty annoying how good the Seahawks are right now. They are supposed to be just one of those teams that does well, but never wins the big one. That is the way it is supposed to be. Them changing their destiny somehow is bothersome.

Clerk 09-05-2014 11:21 AM

don't worry they won't win the superbowl
