Alejandro De Aza has 2 homers of Red Sox Pitcher Anthony Ranaudo. lol

MLB unofficially tweaked the new home plate collision rule recently. Umps now can be slower when making the call and runners can be out if the catcher doesn't blatantly cause a collision to occur.

We need Antonio Brown in the MLB to take care of business @home plate

also damn haven't been checking "around the league" etc nearly as much lately... LAA running the F away with the west
|
Wow, that Jays vs Cubs series was ugly from start to finish. Jays making a nice run
|
too bad they're 10 games out of first place
|
Only 3.5 out of wildcard, aka entirely relevant so stop being such a fucking dickhead
|
Droford lives in 1993. Ain't no wildcard there!
|
Droford also lives on top of Mt. Insufferable

Harold Reynolds said on MLB Network that you can't lead your position in errors and still win the Gold Glove.
Harold Reynolds himself has accomplished that 3 times. |
Wooooo Harold!

Thought that said Harold Ramis :'(

I just signed up for the post season ticket lottery. I suppose that less than .1% chance the Orioles don't make the playoffs is low enough to justify the risk of the patented Droford Jinx © but I'm not actually able to buy tix for two weeks, if they haven't clinched by then there's a problem. |
also pissed I didn't bet the over on the Orioles win total of 80.5... would have won already.

Chris Davis suspended 25 games for amphetamine use.
The sky is falling. |
He had a medical exemption last year to take Aderall but didn't renew it this year so its on him.
|
Also the os just walked off the Yankees in the 11th 2-1 after giving up a hr to Chris Young in the top of the inning
|
Of course Chris Young is having some sort of bizarre rejuvenation after doing precisely dick for the Mets all year.

No Chris Davis, Manny Machado, JJ Hardy or Matt Wieters |

Didn't see this discussed easier, but jesus fuck what a homer bitch the Miami announcer is. Mike Fiers clearly looked upset after hitting Stanton, obviously unintentional. But then when he hit Reed Johnson the Marlins started chirping at him and only then did Fiers get pissed off. Apparently if you hit a batter by mistake, you're no longer allowed to pitch in to anybody else. The Marlins emptied out of the dugout and screamed at Fiers when both hit batters were clear accidents. The Marlins DID have a valid case for being mad at the ump as he called both hit batters swings and misses...but the announcer for the Marlins was like "the Marlins are doing the right thing, you HAVE to stand up for your star player!", "how is Fiers allowed to stay in the game? this is all his fault!", "oh the umpire is now warning both sides, whoopdee doo." and he was incredulous when the Marlins pitcher then got ejected for clearly hitting a Brewer on purpose. It was the type of announcer homerism that would make Hawk Harrelson cum in his pants. |
:y: Paw Sox won the Governor's Cup this year in the minors (Int League)

Somehow I'm still watching the Giants/Dodgers. It's only a three possession game going into the 9th.

The Red Sox are still champions of something! |
they need a trophy for being the first team ever to do worst-first-worst

Chris "Jeffrey Maier" Davis gives a first round elimination for the Orioles.

The Binghamton Mets won the Eastern League title as well. Seriously can't wait for Brandon Nimmo, Dominic Smith, and Michael Conforto to be ready to help at the big league level.

The Orioles gave Jeter crabs.
*insert joke here* |
Not sure how I feel about the likely potential ALDS between the Os and Tigers. On one hand the O's were 1-5 vs the tigers this year but all 6 games were played by may 14th. Since the beginning of July the o's have been playing .687 ball vs the Tigers hovering around .540.
people will probably automatically give the Tigers the edge based on pitching despite the fact that the O's era is almost half a run lower (3.50 vs 3.99) and since July 1st the Os have allowed 210 runs which is the 2nd fewest in baseball to the Mariners 195. |
After losing 3 of 4 to the Nats, the Mets are finally done. I knew they realistically had too many teams to jump over for the 2nd Wild Card anyway, but that they were only 5.5 out midway through last week just shows that you really don't have to be super good to stay in the race with 2 Wild Cards.
The Mets are 69-65 this season against every team not named the Washington Nationals. When you add the Nats games in the Mets drop all the way to 72-78. Seriously ridiculous how much they've owned them. If they could have figured out a way to play even halfway decently against the Nationals, they'd be right in the Wild Card hunt right now. |
Jacob deGrom struck out the first 8 batters he faced last night, and 13 overall. Sadly the bullpen couldn't hold the lead for him.
Still, I think he almost has to win Rookie of the Year at this point. Billy Hamilton has received more hype and steals a ton of bases, but he's subpar as a hitter. The only way deGrom doesn't win it at this point is if the voters decided he simply hasn't logged enough innings. |
How many innings has he pitched?
|
134.1 over 21 starts. He'll have one more start later this week before they shut him down. He had a brief stint on the DL in early August, but it didn't cost him much as they were just going to shut him down earlier in September due to innings limits. His only shot at qualifying would have been if they called him up earlier than they did.
Anyway, he won't have enough innings to qualify being in rankings. But if he did his ERA (2.68) would be 6th lowest in the NL and he also has an impressive 1.13 WHIP and 3.35 K/BB ratio. Some calculations put him above Hamilton in the WAR rankings, but then again WAR for pitchers is a bit wonky. I think he definitely deserves it but won't be outraged if he doesn't due to the innings. |
Chris Davis helped free a man trapped in an overturned truck.
Like the guy said hell of a way to meet him (or any player or famous person) |
