Hmm...I've only seen highlights so I'm just guess...but it probably comes across as a banger only compared to the rest of the PPV. Neither guy at the time probably gave the slightest shit and likely sleep-walked their way to a passable match.

This is big. I begged my Mom to order this show when I was a kid. There I was so excited, thinking someone was going to build a promotion around "former Mania main event talent" like Yokozuna and King Kong Bundy! I was so confused by this experience. I think I was 10 or 11 years old. I hated it. I taped it and rewatched it a few times. I was aware of what it could have been and man it really fucking sucked.

lol imagine having a scheduled match with Jim Neidhart of all people and being the one who fucked the whole thing up by being too blasted.

The show was doomed from the start. They were supposed to have Gordon Solie as the play by play guy but he had to drop out due to health reasons. They ended up replacing him with some guy who didn’t watch wrestling with like a week’s notice. And it only got worse from there.

lol I watched an OSW review of it and they did a whole rundown of that shitty commentator and how he pissed Dutch Mantell off to no end.

I’ve seen the Jake promo and post-match antics. I could never bring myself to watch the whole show. It just seems meant to be enjoyed with a group.

‘99 was a perfect year for this show to happen, too. I feel like if it happened 2 years later they would have had enough WCW castoffs to potentially cross line between “so bad it’s good” and “not quite bad enough to be enjoyable.”

The even better part about this is, they had a backstage interviewer on the show (Michael St. John) that had done commentary on Memphis and Global Wrestling. But instead we got Randy Rosenbloom.

Iirc he was calling a dropkick a "flying leg" or something like that

You should do the one that was in Indy, I think 03-04 or some shit? Where damn near the entire card was changed because of elevated liver enzymes of half the roster. Think it was supposed to be Taker v Khali in the 1st punjabi prison match. He didn't wrestle (Think it ended up being Big Show) but walked down to the ring through the crowd. Took my best friend at the time and we were on the floor. Khali is a fucking monster IRL.
