Bill Simmons' annual NBA Trade Value column. Good (but long) read: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2...simmons/090212

Quote:

23. Steve Nash
He's the Jennifer Aniston of the NBA: A sympathetic figure who brings a ton to the table and just wanted to have kids (or in Nash's case, win one title), only now his window is closing and he's considering the sperm donor route (or in Nash's case, a mercy trade to a contender with a better chance of winning, like Portland). By the way, Sarver is absolutely Angelina Jolie in this analogy -- he ruined everything and doesn't even feel bad about it. The Shaq trade equals the time Jennifer's wasting by dating John Mayer -- ultimately, it's a wasted year for her ovaries. Amare Stoudemire was Brad Pitt, the guy who should have made it happen and didn't. And I think Marc Stein was Us Weekly.
For those who don't want to read it, Top 3 are LeBron, Howard, and Paul.

Splaya 02-13-2009 11:15 AM

Kevin Love: Bill Laimbeer 2.0 with better passing skills and without the Cobra Kai streak. You have to love a country where Love's best rookie card (Upper Deck's '09 SPX set, the signed autographed jersey card) goes for one-eighth the money of Beasley's card ... and yet, Miami could offer Beasley for Love right now and Minnesota would make a face and hang up. Whatever.

I love Bill simmons

SammyG 02-13-2009 11:25 AM

I hate that Douchebag.

DaveWadding 02-13-2009 11:39 AM

TRADE RUMOR:

STAT to Miami
Beasley to Memphis
Rudy Gay & THA MATRIX to Phoenix

DOOOOOO IT.

DaveWadding 02-13-2009 11:39 AM

Nash
J Rich
Gay
Matrix
Shaq

SammyG 02-13-2009 01:30 PM

Pretty big 4 player trade here.

Moon and O'Neal to the Heat for Marion and Banks.

RP 02-13-2009 02:01 PM

ROFL O'neal headed to another team to sit on the bench and ice his knees.

DaveWadding 02-13-2009 02:11 PM

FUCK.

SammyG 02-13-2009 02:24 PM

lol Wadding.

Atleast it won't be in Toronto anymore. Not that I think Marion will make TO any better, but he's cheaper and and will free up about 10 mil in cap space. Miami can kiss its chances at the playoffs buy.

Icess 02-13-2009 04:41 PM

Who the hell is going to take Miami's place? Them Bobcats sure do look dangerous...

Maybe they still get in, but that's about it.

Gertner 02-13-2009 06:14 PM

Marion will make the Raptors alot better. They really needed a true Sf.

Juan 02-14-2009 12:03 AM

Kevin Durant scores 46 points in the Rookie/Sophomore game. Pretty impressive :y:

DaveWadding 02-14-2009 12:22 AM

Going to the Jam Session tomorrow.

I'll offer Kobe a sacrificial white bitch for youse guys.

Juan 02-14-2009 01:02 AM

I'm not trying to just pick on you, as there's plenty of people in this thread to argue with but...

Outside of the top three (Boston, Cleveland, and Orlando), Miami can certainly win a 7 game series. Hawks or Philly may have talent, but Wade alone can win a series. If we actually break it down player by player, only the Hawks have a better starting 5, and the Wade-effect outmatches Atlanta in 7 (I can break down the actual numbers if need be). This is assuming all things continue in the same direction.

It's unlikely that they match-up with Boston or LeBronland, but Orlando is a possibility. At the beginning of the season, Orlando crushes them in 5, but with Nelson gone... Well, Wade leads the league in scoring for a reason. Not saying they win, but it's a whole lot closer then people think.

We can argue that they beat Detroit, Chicago, or heaven forbid the Bucks, should they move into the 4th slot. Again, I can break down positions if we really need to.

God, the East is just pitiful.

Oh, and Dave... Go play NBA2K or something to create a dream team that will never happen.

I'll trade you Luke for Amare...

Actually, fuck that. Ariza's better then #1 anyways. You can keep him/

I'll take:
Paul
Kobe
LeBron
Duncan
Howard

Can I trade Sun Yue? They're comparing him to Magic in China.

Krimzon7 02-14-2009 07:44 AM

I like the suns. It saddened me that they broke up a great team when they found a way to jettison Matrix. I actually think that the Suns are doomed to be the Sacramento Kings circa 2000-2004

VonErichLives 02-14-2009 09:01 AM

haven't had time to be around lately, so a belated congrats to the lakers and spurs fans.

if someone know's where PJ Brown is, please tell him it's time to play some ball.

Hanso Amore 02-14-2009 03:25 PM

GREAT trade by Miami.

O'neal is a mess, but way better than any center they have. Now haslem can stay at PF with Beasly off the bench.

Miami dumped a worthless back up PG and got a Starting SF too.

Seriously, Moon can fill in for marion who wasnt a fit in Miami, they upgraded their front court, and set 27 million to come off the cap to resign Wade and try for Bosh in 2010

Hanso Amore 02-14-2009 03:29 PM

And I hate Simmons, but love his list columns like this one every year.

Moon is extremely inconsistent, and won't do much in the way of rebouding for Miami. O'Neal spends his games sitting on the bench icing his knees. Though when he has played, he's been solid defensively. Toronto got the better end of the deal, they got rid of O'Neal and his 22 million dollar contract and know have over 20 million coming off the books after the season.

Colangelo and Marion know each other their days with the Suns, and maybe Colangelo can re-sign Marion to a mid level contract. Which is about what he's worth at this point in his career.

This HORSE contest is RETARDED.

Meh, all he will do is try to steal old Jordan dunks that Jordan did better.

Juan 02-14-2009 11:32 PM

Shawn Marion is a good player and its a shame he hasn't found a team where he can be best utilized. He was a good fit in D'Antoni's Suns though.

Anywho, I missed the Dunk Contest, did I miss anything spectacular??

Krimzon7 02-14-2009 11:50 PM

You missed little Nate Robinson Dunking OVER dwight Howard for the Win!

Krimzon7 02-14-2009 11:50 PM

The dunk contest was the worst I have ever seen. Dwight was disappointing. Rudy's behind the back dunk by the way is VERY underrated.
