The Final Frontier by Iron Maiden: 6.8/10

Not a big fan of post 2000 Maiden but it's still better than a lot of contemporary stuff. A lot of longer songs and can seem pretentious at times.

My Head is an Animal by Of Monsters and Men: 6.4/10

By contemporary standards, this is a fine album and deserves credit both musically and lyrically in a vast wasteland of auto tuning + vapid and superficial lyrics about dancing and partying. However, it cannot be ignored that this album drags and a lot of the songs have an AC/DC quality of sounding similar or just run too long. The standout tracks are 1,3,6,8 in my opinion. They're mostly the singles, so it was a wise decision to put their best feet forward into the mainstream. One of the better albums of 2012 but must be listened to only on occasion in its entirety, otherwise the droning of some songs or the sameness taint it after consecutive repeated listens.

Really listening to a lot of his music lately, great artist, his song,"I Promised Myself", is probably one of the best songs I have ever heard.

You serious? That song sounds like Erasure - A little Respect

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoXiHMNvCAQ

Erasure's being slightly above a 2/10, beating Nick fucking Kamen.

But you know, we all light different things. At least it's not the usual wanky pop like Gaga, Bieber and stuff / Rap shit that is thrown in our faces.

Bitches need to understand that classical music is where all the kool kids are at...yo!

Norma Jean - Wrongdoers 8/10

Grigori Zhislin/Tatjana Vassiljeva/Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra/ Antoni Wit - Penderecki: Viola Concerto/Cello Concerto No. 2 7/10

The Condor 08-28-2013 12:42 AM

Born in Hell by Viking Skull 8.8/10

Awesome album that can probably best be classified as hard blues rock. They can be heard throughout various episodes of Viva La Bam and have a great sound. This album is a number of years old but I believe they still tour and produce music. Stand out tracks would be "Seed Dealer" and "Crank the Volume."

El Vaquero de Infierno 08-28-2013 02:11 PM

Lamb of God - Sacrament 7.5/10
Miles Davis - On the Corner 8/10
Domus - Brahms: Piano Quartets 9/10

I only gave the album a 6/10. Felt the trumpet was a bit off.

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-08-2013 11:29 AM

There is no need to feel threatened by me listening to classical music, Gertie.

Bad News Gertner 09-08-2013 09:11 PM

I was merely giving my opinion of the album

Sturgill Simpson - High Top Mountain 9/10

More up tempo stuff reminds me of Waylon Jennings. His slower stuff tears at you like Keith Whitley's best.

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-18-2013 09:22 AM

Fitzwilliam String Quartet - Shostakovich: The String Quartets 9/10 (Very tasty)
Vasily Petrenko/Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra - Shostakovich: Symphony 11 8.5/10

dronepool 09-19-2013 12:33 AM

I felt Brahms was really lacking in trombone.

Blonde Moment 09-25-2013 06:51 AM

avenged sevenfold-hail to the king 7/10
Nothing we haven't heard before somewhere else but still pretty damn good.

Shisen Kopf 09-25-2013 08:12 AM

New Sting cd=:| I know he's making a musical but I dunno 5/10. Couple of songs sound like Irish drinking songs but a lot is slow and boring.

El Vaquero de Infierno 09-26-2013 01:02 PM

Jyotsna Srikanth - Call of Bangalore 8/10

The Condor 09-28-2013 10:06 PM

"Garage Inc."- Metallica

6.4/10 PASS

Always avoided this album except for the various singles (Turn the Page, Whiskey in the Jar). It's adequate.

El Vaquero de Infierno 10-02-2013 07:12 AM

I quite enjoy the "Metallica and Friends" version of Tuesday's Gone.

The Condor 10-02-2013 09:45 AM

Loved the version of So What. good stuff, heavy.

El Vaquero de Infierno 10-03-2013 02:35 PM

El Vaquero de Infierno 10-09-2013 04:33 PM

Soulfly - Savages 7/10 (Need to give it more listens; Max's simplistic lyrics remain as hilarious as ever)
Mitsuko Uchida - Schumann: Waldszenen/G Minor sonata/Gesange der Fruhe 8.5/10
Tom Waits - Mule Variations 7.5/10

I thought that piece was greatly lacking in the cello department. Fucking Moazrt, get your head out of your ass!

dronepool 10-13-2013 01:15 AM

Korn- Paradigm Shift 8/10

Korn's best album in a while. Never, Never sort of sucks but the rest is solid.

Vastardikai 10-14-2013 01:51 AM

Alan Jackson - The Bluegrass Album 8.5/10

Really solid album. If more mainstream country albums came out sounding like this, I wouldn't complain. "Blacktop" is a subtle counter to all those Dirt Road songs on modern country. "Blue Ridge Mountain Song" is a heart breaker.

El Vaquero de Infierno 10-17-2013 02:20 PM

Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Ensemble - Brahms: String Sextets 8.5/10
Winston Choi - Elliott Carter: Complete Piano Works 8.5/10

Gyorgy Ligeti Edition 7: Chamber Music 8/10
Deftones - B-Sides and Rarities 6.5/10

Bad News Gertner 10-17-2013 05:17 PM

Really thought Brahms String Sextet was lacking, like one of the sextet was trying to show off and plays solos with his violin and I was like "fool, you're supposed to be a TEAM!"

El Vaquero de Infierno 10-24-2013 06:56 AM

Les Arts Florissants - M.A. Charpentier: Les Plaisirs de Versailles 7.5/10
