Just dropped by the MLB Thread to show off a gif I came across that's probably relevant, I dunno.

Looks like America has had its "Leicester City Moment". I'm happy for all the Chicago Cubs fans out there.

Evil Vito 11-03-2016 07:25 AM

Bet 90% of the non-Cubs fans pulling for the Cubbies to see history are now gonna turn against them like the IWC turned on John Cena in 2005 if they're making a deep playoff run again next year.

Evil Vito 11-03-2016 10:01 AM

The scary thing about the Cubs is that Theo could take the entire winter off and still have the best team in the NL heading into 2017. Fowler and Chapman are the only players they might lose to free agency, everybody else is signed or not even into arbitration years yet. Oh and they won 103 games in the regular season without Schwarber, so it's gonna be like they signed a big time bat in the offseason anyway.

Droford 11-03-2016 11:24 AM

Cubs better send the Orioles a nice Christmas card this year

Innovator 11-03-2016 12:05 PM

I can't wait until Rizzo is in pinstripes

Oh so they won because of the Orioles?

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-03-2016 12:54 PM

Funnily enough, two of the best managers in the game partook in the worst managed game I've ever seen.

It's a shame that Leicester City didn't get their own WWE Championship.

Why not ask wwe?

Emperor Smeat 11-03-2016 04:30 PM

Game 7 ended up being the most watched Wold Series game since 1991 and the series itself since 2004.

In terms of curses/droughts, NFL's Cardinals took over the Cubs as the new longest title drought while NBA's Kings took over the other Cubs record for new longest championship game drought.

I think Theo trumps all of them. Also Rizzo, Lackey, Ross, Lester.

Red Sox win a vicarious world series.

Black Widow 11-03-2016 06:01 PM

10 innings...Cubs scored 8 runs. It's 108 years since their last title.

That's odd at least to me.

Oh so they owe it to the incompetence of the Oriole management

RP 11-03-2016 06:29 PM

Maybe Orioles give us Britton next season since they arent using him.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-03-2016 07:21 PM

Trade Zach Britton for Jason Heyward in another lopsided trade ala Strope and Arietta for Feldman and Clevenger

RP 11-03-2016 08:44 PM

Dont even joke. That might happen.

Frank Drebin 11-03-2016 08:53 PM

The Os dont need Heyward.

RP 11-03-2016 09:34 PM

O' k

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-03-2016 10:29 PM

Maybe they should get Napoli too. They love strikeout or home run guys.

...... no shit, you dinkbag

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-04-2016 12:09 AM

You could have Heyward too who is a strikeout, groundout or weak flyout guy.

Frank Drebin 11-04-2016 07:43 AM

Supposedly they know what's wrong, but it will require a total breakdown and reconstruction of his swing which is something they couldn't do this late in the season.

Droford 11-04-2016 08:00 AM

Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com wonders whether the Orioles could get creative with the increasingly expensive, but also increasingly dominant lefty Zach Britton. The club seems set to hold onto Britton and maintain his role as the closer in 2017, notes Kubatko. But he suggests the team could consider a trade, an extension, or even a return to the rotation for the 28-year-old. That last option would come with considerable upside, but also quite a bit of risk. Britton didn’t succeed in the majors until he moved to the pen — following a roughly similar trajectory to Andrew Miller — and Kubatko adds that the team has some questions about his durability in a rotation role.

Lets make Britton shitty again

Evil Vito 11-04-2016 09:38 AM

I'd expect a bounce back from Heyward next year. He was overpaid even before this season, but he's still a legit big league hitter and he's young. Not unreasonable to expect him to turn it around.

Frank Drebin 11-04-2016 09:43 AM

He would be considered for a gold glove if....Backwards baseball logic....he were better at the plate.

He was a plus defender that actually outweighed his hitting, if you can believe that, to make him good. He might have been a chump at the plate but he never took it into the field.

He won't be considered overpaid if he does what he's been doing his whole career, save for this season.

Frank Drebin 11-04-2016 09:44 AM

Cubs won the world series.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-04-2016 12:40 PM

I like Heyward on defence but get off of his nuts.

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-04-2016 12:41 PM

you gonna pay Simmons and Pillar 186 Mil?

Evil Vito 11-04-2016 12:44 PM

Nah he was nowhere near worth what he was paid this year. I have to think he'll be better offensively next year but this year he was a black hole in the lineup.

If he reverts to form next year he and Schwarber would be like signing 2 big bats. Cubs could be even more ridiculous next year.

Emperor Smeat 11-04-2016 02:48 PM

Indians picked up the option years in Francona's contract which now lasts till 2020. Also picked up the option year for Carlos Santana worth $12 million.

Tied for 2nd for most valuable MLB franchise with the Dodgers.

Droford 11-04-2016 02:50 PM

The dodgers shouldnt be wprth 50 cents

Frank Drebin 11-04-2016 02:51 PM

I don't remember anyone saying he was crazy. Bought them super cheap I thought. You don't make money really unless you swindle a city/county/state on a stadium or taxes or the old fashioned way - spending money to create a winner which nets you tons of cash.

Droford 11-04-2016 07:34 PM

Lol the red Sox picked up David Ortizs 17.2 mil 2017 option

Start the conspiracy train

SlickyTrickyDamon 11-04-2016 08:32 PM

Only to make sure he doesn't become a free agent. He's still retiring.
