Elimination Chamber won't be on the WWE Network until 30 days after it airs on PPV, well piss

Shisen Kopf 02-18-2014 08:25 PM

What?! Well that's a long time to wait but me and owenbrown are gonna share an account so it's cool.

The only time WWE Home Video footage will be used is when there is a spot in the master tape that was damaged. For example, there is a Fabulous Freebirds entrance that was messed up in the master tape on a late 1980s WCW PPV, so they went back and pulled that entrance off of the home video release to patch it over. The only content edits will be stuff involving licensed music that they don't have the rights to. In regards to choking, it will be similar to the Benoit deal. Based on the severity of the choking, the show will be rated TV-14 or TV-MA and given the disclaimer that states that the footage is meant for adult audiences, these are characters and not real people, etc. So instances from the past where someone was being choked by a mic cable, or the WrestleMania moment where Undertaker "hung" the Big Bossman, will likely air as it originally did on the Network, but with a disclaimer and perhaps a TV-MA rating.

Shadrick 02-19-2014 08:53 PM

Did he shoot on Russo and call him a piece of fuckin dog shit?

CSL 02-19-2014 09:11 PM

he "came up". The Russo talk was mainly about his time in TNA/how they wound up there at the same time etc

Shadrick 02-19-2014 09:12 PM

he's a worker like everybody else. He knows what people want to hear when he does these things for DVD's etc. It's basically his gimmick. Was definitely an air of "eh ok, I'll do it" when Russo came up but he still "gave (certain) people what they wanted". It baffles me that people want to hear the same stuff over and over again. Except Dairy Queen. He can talk about Dairy Queen forever.

TLC outdrew the Survivor Series, 181,000 buys to 177,000 buys.

Emperor Smeat 02-20-2014 03:38 PM

Dirtsheets:

Quote:

WWE released their Q4 2013 and Full Year financial results on Thursday morning. Here are the final pay-per-view buy rates:

Battleground in October: 114,000
Hell in a Cell in October: 228,000 (up from 199,000 in 2012)
Survivor Series in November: 177,000 (down from 208,000 in 2012)
TLC in December: 181,000 (up from 175,000 in 2012)

The buyrate for Hell in a Cell was the show’s best since it debuted in 2009 – and the Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton main event outdrew the John Cena vs. Randy Orton WWE World Heavyweight Championship Unification match by a wide margin (26%).
Quote:

They are really excited about the WWE Network going live on Monday. Regarding pay-per-views, Vince says most standard providers have agreed to carry WrestleMania XXX and after that it will be on an event-by-event basis.

They believe that a fully distributed WWE Network can attract between 2 and 3 million subscribers.

WWE expects a $12-$15 million first quarter loss this year due to everything that comes with the launch of the Network.

WWE's first report on the number of Network subscribers will come the Monday after WrestleMania XXX.

They spent around $12 million in 2013 preparing for the Network.

An investor asked about CM Punk. Vince said: "He's taking a sabbatical, let's just put it that way."

I have started to dislike Podcast One for how they advertise on Austin, Jericho and Ross' shows. I listened to Ross' debut show and I did not necessarily liked it. I am bored to death with the combination of the three. Please stop. Jericho is criminally repetitive.

Quote:

I believe that DirecTV will continue to air WWE PPVs. My reasoning is that they target sports fans. I expect the PPV price to drop at some point, however."

As for Dish, he wrote on the Wrestling Observer site, "WWE ain't gettin' on Dish unless the pay-per-view price drops to $9.99."

Miller also told the Fool that Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSK ) , which currently holds right to WWE's flagship TV programs, "may drop WWE PPVs or demand a price decrease if WWE TV programming leaves NBC/Universal networks. I expect smaller cable networks to continue to offer PPVs."

Dish, DirecTV not the risk for WWE

In announcing and launching the network, the WWE essentially told its fans that it was giving up on the traditional pay-per-view model. That move is risky since PPV revenues, according to the WWE's 2012 annual report, "were $83.6 million, $78.3 million, and $70.2 million, representing 17%, 16%, and 15% of total net revenues in 2012, 2011, and 2010.
1 million yearly subscribers to their network will get them $120 million...minus network cost

Also, it will be interesting to see if the PPV prices do drop. If they drop to $20 I might order them since I can't watch on the network because of my cap. I think the monthly TNA ppvs they tape are like $20..

I could go with this. He referred to the ring as his "yard" so almost every match he comes out ala Austin before the RR in 98 or Kane near the end of 98 with a cane and beats the two wrestlers because "those stupid kids are wrestling in my yard"(needs to be mid-carders) then leaves to go to the Country Kitchen Buffet.

Mr. Nerfect 02-21-2014 12:12 PM

Is it just me or is Curtis Axel getting more comfortable in his role? He just seems to be doing everything right. I hope he gets really, really over one day.

I've decided that I want Ryback to wear that singlet of him and Axel together, and I want Axel to get matching trunks. Go all out with this. Give them a super-annoying mash-up of their themes together and have Axel hold a laptop as Ryback tweets "You all suck" from the stage before each match they have. Then all they need is a double-team finisher. Maybe Ryback can have the guy up in a Argentine rack, and then he tosses them over into an assisted version of Axel's finisher? Or they can just be trolls and steal the great finishers of tag teams past. The Doomsday Device and the 3D being the first two that pop into my head.

These guys could be huge.

Mr. Nerfect 02-21-2014 12:16 PM

I've also decided that I don't like the RybAxel name. They can still refer to themselves as that sometimes, but I think they need an official team name. They should have an internet poll with some ridiculous names on offer, and then choose the one with the least votes. Or choose one entirely at random.

I enjoyed him in that 6 man tag the other week, he seems great in that role of coming in on the hot tag and doing some super cool moves but there is literally no substance to the character. I don't enjoy him in singles matches for example.

Dirtsheets (All from F4W):

Quote:

Dish Network was the first provider to blink when it comes to the whole "WWE undercutting us on PPV by $45" thing and won't be airing Elimination Chamber. That it happened now (this PPV isn't being undercut) was a bit of a surprise, as was that it wasn't DirecTV, who had made noise publicly about pulling the PPVs. While there was some chatter from AT&T UVerse subscribers that it wasn't in their program guide or on the UVerse website, it did eventually show up in the guide and WWE confirmed that they're still carrying the show. It looks like WWE is trying to resolve this quietly, as they drew no attention to it on TV (so most subscribers won't know they can't get the show until they try to order) and pretty much refused to talk about it during the investors' conference.

While unconfirmed, one source within Comcast said employees in customer service were being prepped on how to handle calls regarding the company no longer carrying WWE PPVs after this Sunday's Elimination Chamber. Comcast serves 22 million subscribers in the United States.

Regarding the upcoming free trial week of the Network, like most free trials you'll have to provide all of your credit card information to get the free trial, and if you do not cancel before it expires you'll be locked into the six-month commitment.

Expect tons of video tutorials on WWE TV over the next few weeks showing fans how to get the Network on Roku devices, gaming consoles, etc. It'll take the place of Michael Cole explaining how to download the WWE app.

WWE creative is considering using Hogan in a General Manager role since Sting hasn't been signed yet. Sting was originally planned for the role

The announcement of Paul Bearer going into the Hall of Fame is likely coming this Monday, which also may tie into the return of Undertaker to set up his match at WrestleMania. It does appear Taker will likely induct him, which would be his first-ever Hall of Fame speech.

Scott Hall may go into the Hall of Fame this year. He's been under consideration. If he goes in this year the feeling is that Nash is a lock for next year. It's also expected that Rock is going in next year as well.
