I've picked him up in a 2 QB League. I'm in the consolation bracket so winning doesn't matter. You will get a pos rep if he gets 3 TDs in any form at all. I will neg rep you if he does npt.

Also weird the Bills are really the only wild card competition besides the Ravens & Steelers

Chargers and Chiefs will probably both be 8-6 but they play each other and the Chiefs play the Steelers

#1-norm-fan 12-14-2014 06:00 PM

San Diego is a half game behind Baltimore and holds the head to head tie breaker after beating them two weeks ago AND the multi-team tiebreaker because they currently have a better conference record.

Not wild card competition though because... Droford.

Well it's hard to coach when filling out his Michigan application while on the sidelines

The general consensus is that he's an incredible coach but a huge pain in the ass. The problem is that he's an incredible coach partly because he's a huge pain in the ass. He's a mad-eyed micromanaging nutcase. Love that man.

McLegend 12-14-2014 11:38 PM

I dislike Mark Sanchez and want Nick Foles to come back.

#1-norm-fan 12-15-2014 04:04 AM

I'm still weary of this defense. I don't know if the offense can keep spotting them that kind of lead. But first place. I am happy.

#1-norm-fan 12-15-2014 04:06 AM

And I feel like Philly could definitely shit the bed either @ Washington or @ New York so Dallas could even have a cushion to lose a game now. But i'd rather they just TCB and not let it come to that.

Clerk 12-15-2014 07:14 AM

NFL really needs to ban these Roughing the Quarter back calls. There way too over protected, actually the offense is over protected when you think about it.

road doggy dogg 12-15-2014 08:30 AM

I'm starting to feel a lot better about week 17 now.

Assuming both teams take care of business next week (GB @ TB, DET @ CHI), week 17 will be for the division. I don't know what the tiebreaker is between DAL/PHI but there's a chance that whoever wins that game will be the #2 seed. So there's a chance we either have a first-round bye, or have to travel to the NFC South winner for the first round (or probably other scenarios too but w/e)... could be in a worse spot

Evil Vito 12-15-2014 08:34 AM

Yeah Lions/Packers seems like close to a lock to be the Sunday Night game in week 17 as it figures to have direct correlation to division winner.

Then again Bengals/Steelers could wind up being a win or go home game so if it comes to that NBC may favor that over two teams already locked into the playoffs and just playing for seeding.

Atlanta/Carolina could also be win or go home but nobody wants to watch that garbage.

road doggy dogg 12-15-2014 08:41 AM

Aren't all week 17 games divisional matchups? I wonder how many of them will have playoff implications, will be curious to see which is the "most important" game on

Evil Vito 12-15-2014 08:51 AM

Yeah they've made week 17 all divisional for like 4 or 5 years now. And they don't name the Sunday night game until all week 16 games have been played so they can stick the game with the most direct playoff playoff implications on.

That led to Dallas losing in primetime to each of their divisional rivals 3 years in a row in the NFC East deciding game. And the year before that was Seattle winning their division at 7-9 lol.

Coaching isn't the problem with the Giants right now, I just think they players aren't as good as everyone else in the league. They can't put it together consistently, even if everyone else does their assignments right, someone blows theirs and a big play happens, or with the offense, nothing happens.

The Chargers have to winout and hope The Ravens lose to Thad Lewis or Johnny football or the Bengals lose out vs Peyton Manning and Big Ben. Gee i wonder which is more likely.

Droford 12-15-2014 09:31 PM

Im pretty sure nbc will get Bengals/Steelers week 17 The key for that game could be Bengals lose = out of playoffs and Steelers win = afc north champs but Steelers would be in as wild card regardless

The Bills have to do the same... except they actually don't hold the same tiebreakers SD does so that might not even do it. Still waiting to hear the logic behind them being the "only wild card competition besides Baltimore and Pittsburgh" in Droford-world.

I would love Coughlin to keep his job. I really don't blame him for this. I do think Perry Fewell and probably Tom Quinn should go, but I'm fine keeping Coughlin. And the McAdoo offense seems to have clicked later in the season.

Plus really, who can they get to replace Coughlin? I doubt Cowher is going to leave CBS or anything.

Francesa made an interesting point. If the Giants give Eli a 4 or 5 year extension this offseason as expected to lock him up for his career, they should give Coughlin a contract of the same length. No more of this one year extension nonsense. If Coughlin wants to retire midway through his new deal, he can.

Johnny Football will be sack fodder for Elvis Dumervil to break the nfl sack record. He needs 4.5 to tie facing thad lewis next week. I smell 5 sacks in the last two games.

Also this is my feeling on how the playoffs will shake out. Ravens win the Division, Chiefs get a wildcard and the winner of Steelers/Bengals is in, loser is out.

Rooting for pittsburgh, sets up a winable wild card game at home vs KC and with Pittsburghs help vs Indy another shot at Peyton Manning in the cold.

Being in a fight for the NFC South division title is worse than being... say... the Oakland Raiders in some ways. At least everyone just kinda forgets the Raiders exist. The NFC South teams have a huge spotlight on how shitty they are every week.

Helmsphere 12-16-2014 03:21 AM

Sometimes I wish the Dolphins were in the NFC South.

Sucks we're in the AFC East, against 3 northern teams, and usually have to play them in December up there.

Helmsphere 12-16-2014 09:46 AM

Jarvis Landry and yeah I'm trying to think of the others, but defiantely one of the best, if not the best since like 1996 or 97

Evil Vito 12-16-2014 10:41 AM

In March the owners will be voting to expand the playoffs from 12 teams to 14 as well as changing playoff seedings. The proposed seedings would be: 1 seed gets a bye, 2 and 3 seeds are division winners with the next highest record/tiebreakers, and the fourth division winner will be guaranteed a playoff spot but seeds 4-7 will be based on record/tiebreakers. So for example, this year the NFC South winner would be the 7th seed and have to play the #2 seed on the road in Wild Card weekend.

The thinking seems to be that it's extremely rare for a wild card team to have a better record than the 3 seed, but the 5 seed has had a better record than the 4 seed pretty frequently. And of course years like 2010 and this year where both wild cards are better than the 4 seed.

I dunno. I'm a believer that if you win your division, you should not only make the playoffs but get a home playoff game. If the wild card team can't go on the road and beat an inferior opponent, they don't deserve to advance. Although it's fun to joke about it's never really bothered me that a bad division can produce a bad playoff team. In 2010 my 10-6 Giants stayed home while the 7-9 Seahawks got in. That's just the breaks.

Would be happy with 14 playoff teams though. It's still less than half the league, makes the 1 seed that much more important, and would make that first weekend of the playoffs extra fun.

Droford 12-17-2014 03:34 PM

They should expand to 24 teams

Finish last in a division and no playoff
Win division get a bye
Week 1 3 seeds @ 2 seeds
Week 2 division championships
Week 3 conference semis
Week 4 conference championships
Week 5 super bowl

Only one extra week

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-17-2014 10:30 PM

Have two play in games for the two Wild card spots. It's not possible to have a fair conference way to do things when so much of your season is played in your division. To be fair conference record should be the thing that lines up your teams in the seeding not overall record. They'll never do that.

have 4 instead of 2

wc 1 vs. wc 4
wc 2 vs. wc 3

The two winners are the real wild card current teams and are put in to face the 2 divisional seeds 3 and 4.

It gives the divisional winners a bye and the top seeds two weeks off. It also punishes teams for being non-divisional winners making the divisional races more important.

True. The one bright spot of the Jags' season this year has to be their promising group of young receivers. If only they had an O-line that could keep Bortles upright, and anything resembling a running game.

Yeah, they really need an O-Line badly. As for the run game, Denard is pretty good, but Gerhart isn't. So we'll see what 2015 brings.
