I was yelling at the TV "walk him" and they didn't. :(

That would have been hilarious just for the absolute crucifixion the media would give the O's for months.

Evil Vito 09-25-2014 10:36 PM

I don't see how Jeter plays in the final series now. He might have played if his last moment in this game wasn't good. But after that? No chance.

Innovator 09-25-2014 10:36 PM

That could've been the new curse

I assume he's going to play in the last one at least since it will have the big tribute planned for him. They did the same last year for Riveria's final game at Fenway.

Dragon 09-25-2014 11:11 PM

He said he's played his last game at SS. So probably a couple games at DH against Boston.

Cool way to end it even if the game didn't matter.

Droford 09-25-2014 11:14 PM

hopefully some Boston pitcher grooves one to him for a homer so I don't have to relive this as much as the fucking Jeffrey Maier assisted homer.

How do you feel about Derek Jeter, number 2, wishing the Orioles well in the playoffs and saying they deserve it?

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-26-2014 07:38 AM

burn.

Clerk 09-26-2014 07:52 AM

Lol Yankees paying the orioles for that walk-off hit

road doggy dogg 09-26-2014 08:45 AM

Jeter kinda looks like Putin a bit doesn't he

road doggy dogg 09-26-2014 08:51 AM

Would love if ARod talked Jeter into posing topless on a horse (because you know that's something ARod has or would do) so we could compare apples to apples

Innovator 09-26-2014 09:48 AM

Do you ever read the Jeter diary on Grantland? The A-Rod stuff is great

Clerk 09-26-2014 10:15 AM

Stop disrespecting A-ROD

I'm sure he meant that about as much as he deserved the Jeffrey Maier home run in 1996.

Droford 09-26-2014 11:29 PM

Royals are 1gb of the tigers for the right to play the Orioles in the ALDS..but n the bright side they clinched at least a wildcard. party like its 1985

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-27-2014 12:11 AM

They shouldn't consider the play-in game the playoffs. That cheapens what being a playoff team means.

SI (specifically Tom Verducci) said this was the best young crop of SS's ever in 1997.

2.25 out of 5 (the .25 cause Renteria had a hit that won a world series, but still..)

Stop trying to take feel good moments away from people. A whole whooping 10 teams get into the playoffs, it is a accomplishment.

SlickyTrickyDamon 09-27-2014 06:22 PM

There are still people who remember when it was 4.

Droford 09-27-2014 06:28 PM

NFL is about to be 14 out of 32
NHL is 16 out of 30
NBA is 16 out of 29

10 out of 30 is pretty fair

owenbrown 09-27-2014 09:10 PM

isn't there 30 teams in the NBA, Droford? :wtf:

poopfromweiner dude 09-27-2014 09:42 PM

Joke about ________notable laughably bad nba franchise________ not officially being recognized as an NBA team

Droford 09-27-2014 09:44 PM

as if (insert bad team here) counts

Droford 09-27-2014 09:46 PM

speaking of the other leagues, the Blue Jays now have the longest playoff drought of teams in all 4 leagues going back to 1992.

Who the fuck cares? KC was still in the top percentage of winning records for the AL. But lets cramp on their style because you want to go back 80 years to the good old days.

Honestly, why do you feel the need to cramp a feel good story? How does that benefit you at all?

Evil Vito 09-28-2014 12:24 AM

Angels just wrangled out of a bases loaded, nobody out jam in the bottom of the 9th. Mariners need to win to stay alive.

Evil Vito 09-28-2014 01:09 AM

Brad Miller fucks up and doesn't run home from second on a hit to center. Austin Jackson bails him out by nearly grounding into a double play but barely legging it out at first.

King Felix with a meaningful start in Game 162.

Evil Vito 09-28-2014 01:14 AM

There could be as many as three Game 163s on Monday to decide the NL Central, AL Central, and AL 2nd Wild Card.

Droford 09-28-2014 06:20 AM

Royals Pirates and Mariners have to win
Tigers Cardinals and A's have to lose

As an o's fan I'm rooting for Tigers/Royals 163 since it means the winner would have to burn a starting pitcher that would otherwise likely get 2 starts unless they don't start a top pitcher. Plus they won't get the extra rest or prep time for game 1 on Thursday.

19 years.

1995 was the first Wild Card season.

Royals can still win the Central.

Do they have 163 if both teams are already in the playoffs? The Central teams are both in already.

screech 09-28-2014 09:13 AM

To decide division winner and wildcard, yes
