I won't say they're better because I don't want to know what kind of weird stats you found to prove it, but I'd rather have Kipnis than Schoop and EE/Santana than Davis.

I'm shocked he didn't say Hardy was somehow better than Lindor, tbh

ClockShot 12-23-2016 06:46 PM

I sure thought Ed Encarnacion would be getting 9 figures, easy.

3/$60 was unexpected.

Jose Bautista will probably come at a bargain now.

He didn't look up anything. Schoop had a sub 300 on base and was less than average offensively.

Kipnis was better on both sides and was double the WAR. Droford is just a mindless homer.

Santana and Davis were even but Santana was a way better hitter.

Machado is the only player that's better than any infielder on Cleveland.

Cue that Droford meme.

screech 12-23-2016 07:00 PM

I mean, I actually looked up some numbers and saw Kipnis was better than Schoop (had to do a double take on his OBP) in basically every way.

I just didn't want 2 more pages of his ridiculous stats and everyone else arguing against him.

Schoop is also 5 years younger and was 1 of 3 players to play in all 162 games last year. Hrs also better defensively.

screech 12-23-2016 10:11 PM

Why do be...

Nope, not gonna do it. You can't be swayed.

Nicky Fives 12-24-2016 11:28 AM

I agree with Droford, if I were a GM, I'd prefer Schoop over Kipnis simply due to age, but if I "wanted to win now" you'd have to go Kipnis because of his track record....

Based on what exactly? And age isn't the argument. The claim waa Schoop was better.

Kipnis-275/343/469, +4 drs, 4.1 WAR

Schoop-267/298/454, -1 drs, 2.1 WAR

Kipnis was literally twice as good lol. Kipnis was a better hitter, fielder, and base runner. Or, in other words, Kipnis is better at baseball.

Even in his first full season 5 years ago, Kipnis was twice as good. I'm curious what part of your ass you're trying to argue out of here.

Damian Rey 2.0 12-24-2016 11:30 AM

Oh, and the 162 games played argument is silly. If he still wasn't better why does it matter? It's quality, not quantity.

That's fair, though I think I'd still rather have Kipnis because he's all around just a better player.

But the claim was that, right now, Schoop is better than Kipnis. I only said I'd rather have him because I didn't want to get into a useless stats argument with Droford over who is better.

Damian Rey 2.0 12-24-2016 12:21 PM

I'd still take Kipnis. Age has value but it's not the end all be all. Like Screech said, Kipnis is the better overall player.

He's also likely to age better because his secondary skills are better.

Kipnis' numbers are probably as good as he gets whereas Schoops are from his first full season at age 24. I guarantee you Schoop will be better than Kipnis next year which is why I say he's better than Kipnis

Possibly. I dont think those numbers are Kipnis's ceiling at all. I think he will get better. Especially considering he'll be hitting in a lineup with Encarnacion and they should be getting Brantley back next season who if you've forgot, is pretty damn good. Probably there best player going into last season. Kipnis numbers will naturally get better hitting in a lineup with those 2.

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-24-2016 02:20 PM

Schoop has a long way to go before he's touching Kipnis's ability. He's too much of a free swinger. Good power on him, athletic guy but he has a lot of maturing to do before he's anywhere close to Kipnis. For you not to see this Dro, is more signs of the O's dick in your mouth.

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-24-2016 02:20 PM

Not to say he can't get there eventually, but that won't be this coming year, barring injury trouble for Kipnis.

poopfromweiner dude 12-24-2016 02:27 PM

Jason Kipnis is 29

It's not like he's on the verge of decline here Droford...

owenbrown 12-24-2016 02:41 PM

Droford is such a homer.

Evil Vito 12-24-2016 02:53 PM

Wonder how often Droford has masturbated to pics of Orioles players in his lifetime.

Guarantee based on what? How is he better when his numbers say he's not better? Schoop wasn't any where near as good at Kipnis was when comparing their first full seasons.

You're basically just talking out of your ass based on nothing.

Damian Rey 2.0 12-24-2016 03:10 PM

And what's this first full seasons nonsense. Schoop played in 137 games in 2014. That was his first full season. And he was a terrible hitter.

He's not going to reach Kipnis' level unless he magically learns to walk and plays better defense. Given his size already I doubt the defense gets better as he ages.

Ol Dirty Dastard 12-24-2016 03:24 PM

Yeah, I find free swingers tend to stay free swingers. He could eventually be a 30 home run guy though. But his OBP is worrisome.

And if you look at their overall production defensively and offensively, Schoop isn't even on the same stratosphere as Kipnis.

To be fair, Schoop gives me a boner sometimes. I would have no choice but to jack it if i knew what was best for me.

He's wrong because I'm proof he's wrong so I know he's wrong.

Droford 12-25-2016 11:28 PM

I saw the Orioles were interested in Mike Napoli. I could see him being good replacement for Trumbo when he DHed. Still doesn't solve the RF problem though.

Droford 12-25-2016 11:33 PM

I still would like to see Trumbo come back though.

Yankees pushing for the idea of one of their Red Sox-Yankees series to be played in London by around 2018. Red Sox are not as committed to the idea or location but wouldn't have a problem if MLB wanted it in the end.

Road to the London Kings and baseball's destruction. #ds9

Droford 12-26-2016 11:43 PM

No way there's ever a team in London. Between the fact that road trips for games there would be brutal..just the general fact that games there would start at 2pm or even 11 am (or earlier for day games in London) and then the London teams road games would start there at midnight or later..
