KleptoKlown 06-15-2011 01:03 AM

Same shit, different pile.

KleptoKlown 06-15-2011 01:11 AM

To your point though...

This has been a great finals.

Win or lose, we have witnessed a final unlike any other since this "next generation" of hockey has occurred.

The biting, the physical play, the genuine hatred for each city(Cam Neely is still the man...Comox represent) the trash talk, and the fact that each game has either been a blowout or an edge of you seat, grow some grey hair nail biters.

Probably because I am biased, but this has been the best final I can remember in years.

If the Bruins win, it's because of Thomas

If the Nucks win, it's because of Lou...and despite of him.

Stickman 06-15-2011 01:57 AM

Just to go back to this hit on Raymond, it was late, out of the play in a vulnerable position, unnecessary and caused serious injury. Sounds a lot like Rome's hit yet there wasn't even a review? Come on.

Secondly, the league officials sat down with both GMs and Coaches and said they will call the after the whistle stuff, what happened? Nothing.

Last night, Thomas spears I think Daniel (might have been Burrows) in the nuts after the whistle behind the net. No call whatsover.

Henrik gets mugged by Chara and they both get penalties and Henrik gets a diving call? If you've followed the Sedins for the past 10 years or whatever since they came in the league you would know they don't dive. They don't. They'll stand there and get punched repeatedly in the face, as they showed last game, but they don't dive. Looking solely at the play, how can you say Henrik dove?
Burrows, Lapierre, Kesler dive or flip their heads back? Yes they do.

I"m not buying into the conspiracy theories, I'm not whining, I'm just pointing out facts. The officiating in this series have been the worst I've seen in years, absolutely garbage and I think it's because the refs are afraid to make the calls that they called in the regular season, round 1, 2 and 3 but for some reason don't. A penalty is a penalty is a penalty.

As somebody said earlier, this league is consistently inconsistent.

Game 7, Stanley Cup finals tomorrow. Doesn't get any better than this and here's to a good, well officiated game regardless of who wins.

KleptoKlown 06-15-2011 03:24 AM

Tomorrows game will be under a 2000x magnifying glass,

If Lou plays like he did in the Boston games...he's going to get run out of town. Maybe he will be the backup for the next 10 years if no one else wants him.

If the refs call game 7 like they've called the last 6...I don't know what's going to happen, but buildings will burn, and Buttman will have a bullseye on his head.

Emperor Smeat 06-15-2011 05:15 PM

The one thing I find amazing about this series is this will be the first time the Bruins have ever played a Game 7 in the Stanley Cup after being in it 17-18 times before.

Of course most of the time they faced off against the Canadiens and lost badly but surprised they've never played a 7th game considering how old the team is (second oldest US team but oldest since 1924) and the amount of times they've played for the title.

Vancouver might have the longer Cup drought but they've also played fewer Cup games and already have a Game 7 in their history in comparison to Boston.

MVP 06-15-2011 05:22 PM

No idea how tonight is going to end up. There's a strong case to make for either team winning. The drama going into this game is really what a Game 7 should be.

Congratulations Bruins, you earned it, you deserve it.

I wouldn't say 3-0 is in the bag yet. 20 minutes is plenty of time to score 3 goals.

Droford 06-15-2011 10:11 PM

Wouldnt they need to score 4?

I guess 3 in 20 and then OT..

ugh

LoDownM 06-15-2011 10:24 PM

Yeah I know they need 4, but you figured it out on your own.

If the rumors of Mark Cuban's desire to purchase the Dallas Stars are true, then The Great State & Former Republic of Texas could once again bring HOCKEY and BRISKET together again.

James Steele 06-15-2011 10:41 PM

Congrats to Boston, but my policy still holds true of rooting for Dallas and then Canadian teams before all others.

LoDownM 06-15-2011 10:44 PM

Glad Recchi can retire "on top" of the Hockey world.

Lara Emily 06-15-2011 10:46 PM

Someone forgot to tell the Canucks that they had a Game 7 to play tonight

Emperor Smeat 06-15-2011 10:46 PM

:D 4-0 Game 7 win, 4-3 series win, STANELY CUP CHAMPIONS

The real turning point of this series was both Burrows bite and then Horton being TKO'ed on a bad hit since both motivated the team a lot.

The preview ESPN had for this game ended up becoming true where even though both teams only won at home, the Bruins were more competitive at Vancouver than Vancouver at Boston.

The bite ended up fueling the bad blood early into the series and the roughness with all the penalties and back-and-forth taunting before the Horton hit.

Sure Vancouver won both games but it did play a role in how Bruins took the series back to Boston.

Makes sense, but I just saw the Bruins celebrating and them booing like hell while he was talking. Wish that would spread to other sports.

So true...

Timmy is an amazing story...

I hated the 94 Rangers, and still do to this day.

I hated the Bruins during this series, but now that it's over, if my Nucks had to lose to anyone, I am glad it was to the B's. Just too bad #77 and #8 were not on the ice to celebrate.

"The Bite" might as well have happened 100 years ago. It was a non factor tonight, and tonight was the only game that really mattered.

MVP 06-15-2011 11:09 PM

FUCK YEAH BRUINS, TIM THOMAS IS YOUR FATHER!!!

Spilchuk is probably going crazy right now

Stickman 06-15-2011 11:28 PM

I would suck Tim Thomas' dick just to taste his wife.

Congrats to the Bruins. I still think the refs fucked a lot of game, and the canucks were missing three of their top 8 players, but you know what, great series, congrats to the B's. Seriously, congrats, Bruins and Tim Thomas. Lucic, I love you and wish you were a Canuck

One of the worse officiated playoffs of recent memory. Tired to American teams winning, but atleast it's a city that will semi-appreciate it.

Still, this Bruins team has to be the worst team to win the cup in the last 10 years.

Still won it. I guess it balances out the 1971 B's team that was possibly the best team not to win a cup.

weather vane 06-17-2011 01:16 AM

lol @ Vancouver fans STILL whining

Stickman 06-17-2011 01:18 AM

Oh by the way, the rioting was started by guys who planned on rioting, NOT Canuck fans. A bunch of the people arrested were from out of town who were actually black listed during the Olympics. A lot of these same people were at the G20 riots.

Guys came into the downtown core with googles, fire starters, weapons and other stuff. This was planned. There were people with signs saying "Riot 2011" on it.

These were NOT Canuck fans. As the riot started that's when the drunken idiots get involved so I don't completely blame those losers. It's a black eye on the city for sure, but you know what, Vancouver came together as people to clean up the mess and speak out for the fact that that was not Vancouver that the world saw rioting.

A lot of the rioters were teenagers and early 20somethings. A lot of people had turned their children, boyfriends, friends ect into the police. They're going to charge every last one of the losers.

Stickman 06-17-2011 08:48 PM

Injured Canucks playing hurt in the finals:

Kesler, hip
H. Sedin, back
Edler, shoulder
Hamhuis, torn abdominal
Erhoff, 2 broken fingers
Higgins, fractured foot bone
Beiksa, bruised MCL
Raymond, broken back
Samuelsson, didn't even suit up.

A couple of the Bruins said their game plan all along was to go after the Canucks hard knowing that the Canucks were more banged up. Not using injuries as excusses, but it's hard to ignore. Goes to show how hard that holy grail is to win.

Blitz 06-17-2011 09:34 PM

Favourite story of the riots was the picture of the kid who was like going to the Olympics for water polo trying to torch a cop car.

YOUR Hero 06-17-2011 09:49 PM

love how social media is exposing these 'rioters'

Emperor Smeat 06-18-2011 12:25 PM

The ratings for Game 7 are showing that even though there was just 1 US team in the finals, the game got its highest rating in 37 years for both a Game 7 and any other Stanley Cup game. 4th largest rating when regular season is added in since 1973 as well.

Already higher ratings in New England than both Celtics NBA Finals games and the parade crowd size is either reported as being the largest or 2nd largest after the 2004 Red Sox parade.

The funny part is some sports radio show in New England tried to say that nobody really cared about hockey and that the other teams are more popular in the area but the ratings and the parade size completely discredit that notion.

Sean 06-18-2011 06:40 PM

I just got back from the parade & it's now being billed as the largest.

WEEI is a joke; they handed out cards for the parade but I threw mine out the second I realized where it came from since they disrespected hockey fans until they were forced to acknowledge them. Thank fuck the Sports Hub saved sports radio in this town.

Sean 06-18-2011 06:42 PM

So who's ready for the draft this week? I'm pretty excited to see where my boy Jamie Oleksiak is going. Wherever it is (please not Montreal or Toronto), I just hope they let him come back here and not request that he play major juniors.

The Whiner Line is still funny. That Morgan Freeman/Jim Rice guy is great.

Sean 06-19-2011 02:02 AM

Yeah he was alright but he got too repetitive for me. The only thing about EEI I actually miss is Frank from Gloucester. But if I had to give him up to get rid of the shouting matches, inflated host egos, completely disrespecting callers with contrary opinions, in-jokes that were never funny but are brought up ad nauseaum, feuds between callers, going on and on about business ventures and of course refusing to talk hockey.

I can't imagine how the past few weeks have been for them, it must be the most elementary hockey talk going today. None of the callers really know anything because the fans all moved to the FM and it's obvious the hosts don't/never did or they would've been more inclined to take calls before they were the only sports story in town. Plus, they fired the only guy with a hockey background.

Bringing in El Prez for D&C is smart though. Even though D&C are deplorable human beings and have nothing worthwhile to say, the readers of Barstool are such sheep they'll all tune regardless of how boring it is. All those Viva La Stool signs are a nuisance. People don't even put effort into them but at least they're labeling themselves as blatant attention whores.

Sean 06-19-2011 02:02 AM

Sorry, thought this was the Boston sports radio thread.
