Juan Miranda is the DH tonight. Interesting.

ClockShot 05-14-2010 10:05 PM

FUCK! I was watching the Flyers/Bruins game and A-Rod put Operation: Grand Slam into effect.

Boomer 05-14-2010 11:04 PM

Dear Diamondbacks,

I hope this teaches you to never give an IBB to Melky Cabrera.

Sincerely,

Boomer

Evil Vito 05-14-2010 11:25 PM

I see no way the Mets can actually send Perez out there for another start. Too many guys pitching well in the minors to start him again.

ClockShot 05-15-2010 07:19 PM

The Pat Burrell Experiment in Tampa Bay is over. Rays DFA'd him today. Hank Blalock gets called up to replace him.

RP 05-15-2010 07:49 PM

how many times do the Cubs have to lose to the Pirates for the them to finally fire this fat overrated peice of shit horrible manager Lou Penis

FEAR THE MELKMAN.

Pinch-hit GIDP for him today. Bravo.

Supreme Olajuwon 05-16-2010 07:56 PM

Reds move into first place. YEAH

ClockShot 05-16-2010 09:14 PM

Former Yankees Brian Bruney, Chad Gaudin, and Edwar Ramirez all got DFA'd over the weekend.

What are the chances Cashman calls one of them to come back to fill in a starter/bullpen spot? Wait, not a bullpen spot, because Javy Vazquez is going to the 'pen for the Red Sox series.

Happy times.

Innovator 05-16-2010 09:25 PM

Gaudin if i had to pick

Hardkore Kidd J 05-17-2010 09:56 AM

I wouldn't mind getting Edwar back. I remember the first time he came up with the Yankees that "Bugs Bunny Change Up" he had.

OssMan 05-17-2010 10:33 AM

Edwar Scissorhands

Then everything got meaty

Omar has traveled with the team to Atlanta. Though from the sounds of things, Jerry is safe for at least another week. Sounds like they don't want to make any firings until after the Subway Series, out of fear that it'll cause a huge media circus.

Mets need to turn shit around these next 4 days in Atlanta and Washington, because I'm pretty certain the Yanks will wipe the floor with them this weekend. However, Washington's been killing the Mets lately so I dunno.

My official guess is that Jerry gets the axe during the off-day next Monday. Don't think the entire coaching staff will be cleared out just yet, but pitching coach Dan Warthen surely has to go with Jerry.

Innovator 05-17-2010 11:48 AM

Mets callers are getting desperate here, one guy called in to complain about the third base coach.

Evil Vito 05-17-2010 12:02 PM

Yeah that's retarded. Third base coach is probably the most thankless job in baseball - you only get talked about if you fuck up. That being said Chip Hale really hasn't fucked up. Better than the last few guys they've had there at least.

Innovator 05-17-2010 12:07 PM

I guess he was tired of complaining about Ollie, David Wright, Jason Bay, Jerry, Omar.

Evil Vito 05-17-2010 12:18 PM

Bay puzzles me. He has 1 HR and like 4 triples. Although he hasn't hit HRs on the road either, it still speaks volumes about Citi Field. Young sluggers aren't going to want to sign there if their HR numbers are guaranteed to decrease and ruin their future earnings potential.

It's a shame too...I love Citi Field and I enjoy that it's a pitchers park, but it just looks bad when the team really isn't built for the park yet. This is why I would love if they brought in Carl Crawford. That's the kind of hitter that they would need for Citi.

Adder 05-17-2010 03:30 PM

All the park should be bigger like Citi Field imo

ClockShot 05-17-2010 03:30 PM

*sigh*

Nick Johnson is going in for surgery. The 6 million dollar gamble failed. The DH spot is now a revolving door between Miranda, Thames, and *insert veteran here*.

I hear Jermaine Dye is available....

Maybe Posada could be our DH. Cervelli has been doing such a good time at Catcher I say we ease Posada into being the DH.

Innovator 05-17-2010 05:39 PM

You mean we wouldn't have to deal with Jorge's amazing catching abililty and throwing ability?

Yeah, that 8 run 9th on saturday was extremely depressing considering how well pitched the game had been for the first 8.

I thought Posada was going to DH half the time this year already?

Droford 05-17-2010 07:00 PM

I guess if that NFL QB thing falls through for Tebow he can always go play baseball somewhere.

Quote:

You thought a baseball blog was a good place to hide from Tim Tebow news? Think again!
Considering the hype surrounding his client, Tebow's agent thought it would be a good idea to hide him in Memphis for a few days; Elvis, after all, lives there in plain sight. Alas, once neighbors figured out who Jimmy Sexton's guest was, they came a-knockin' and blew Tebow's cover.
But not before Tebow got in some whacks -- not at the critics who consider Josh McDaniels and the Denver Broncos cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs for trading up to take Tebow in the first round of the NFL Draft.
No, these whacks came at batting practice with the high school kids on the Memphis University School baseball team.
Tebow hit 12 homers on 15 pitches.
Of course he did.

I've heard that Cervelli might be going full time next year. And Jorge will be the full time DH. I was listening to that gasbag Francesa this afternoon saying "Oh, Cervelli has fizzled out really fast. Posada better get back behind the plate."

Made me laugh, and angry at the same time.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 05-17-2010 08:24 PM

Red Sox displaying that great pitching & defense tonight

His numbers compared to Manny's was about a few HRs and RBIs less the last few years but he was a bit more inconsistent for long stretches compared to Manny.

His biggest value was while Manny goofed off too much and got upset over things that shouldn't be a big issue, Bay was more reliable and didn't cause any off field issues/distractions.

Boomer 05-17-2010 09:58 PM

Great Mets-Braves game. Exciting to the finish.
