Mandalorian bro

El Vaquero de Infierno 05-22-2020 08:07 AM

I'm probably going to wait until the first of the Marvel series appear before getting a Disney+ subscription, and then I'll watch The Mandalorian, etc.

XL 05-23-2020 08:20 AM

You can dip in and out. I need to get better at rotating. I signed to the + free trial to watch Rise of Skywalker not realising it was on NOW TV too, then I missed the cut off for cancelling. £6 for Mandolorian is pretty good value for money. Gonna unsubscribe until the Marvel shows debut.

XL 05-23-2020 08:23 AM

I will say though, I hold a grudge against Disney+ just on the basis that it devalues so much of my Blu Ray collection with the MCU, Pixar movies, and Disney Classics (for my daughter) all on there.

Rewatched seasons 1-6 of Clone Wars, and then watched Rebels. Rebels was great. It was way better than I thought expected. I would recommend it to anyone.

On to season 7 of Clone Wars!

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-04-2020 01:42 PM

Rebels was good but I didn't like that it only followed the one crew. Loved how Clone Wars was a more 3-dimensional look at what was going on.

glad you decided to go in release order :y:

Still never finished Season 6 of Clone Wars.....

McLegend 07-06-2020 11:59 PM

Just finished season 7 of Clone Wars.

Episode 7.1-7.4 were apparently shown to the public in some form or another before they aired on Disney+, and people out there think it was a waste. Well it was the first time I saw these episodes, and I liked them. I thought they were strong. In one of the episodes something happens between Anakin, Rex, and Obi-Wan that makes sense, but it’s still a “WTF” moment in a great way. That makes the first 4 episodes worth it for that alone.

Episodes 7.5-7.8 were pretty much a complete waste of time. It get Ahsoka to go where she needs to be, but overall it might be the worst Arc clone wars ever did. If it was 20 some episode season it would have been fine, but it doesn’t fit in with the long awaited final 10 episodes.

Episodes 7.9-7.12 are heartwarming, thrilling, and heartbreaking. It shines a whole new light on Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith. I need to go back and watch it now. The 4 episodes are a movie, and it’s best all around Star Wars movie since the Force Awakens, and it’s probably better than that as well. The last scene was the perfect scene to end it.

Also can someone be Darth Maul’s friend? That’s all he wants.

This and I thought it being more geared towards kids was why I didn’t watch it. It definitely skews younger then Clone wars, but I didn’t feel embarrassed by watching it. So my reasoning was wrong there.

I’m glad it focused on one crew, because I love the ghost crew now. I want more from them.

Lock Jaw 07-13-2020 12:44 PM

Still haven't watched any more..... I prob should, because it is really the only reason I have not dis-activated my Disney+ account, but if I am not doing it anyways I'm still just paying for nothing.....

But....

They announced today a new animated series "Star Wars: The Bad Batch", spinning off of S7 of The Clone Wars.

Ol Dirty Dastard 07-13-2020 12:49 PM

Yeah the bad batch was the fucking tits. Why would people think it was a waste?

Lock Jaw 12-29-2021 12:09 PM

First episode of "The Book of Boba Fett" pretty "meh"..... no "hook" to get interested or watch more other than it is "Star Wars content"....

Blonde Moment 12-29-2021 12:53 PM

Boba Fett is the hook

I made a joke about the Boba Fett tease/bumper at the end of The Mandalorian reminding me of the ending of Conan The Barbarian, sans Mako narration. After watching episode 1, it seems less like a joke and more like an intentional thing. And I'm all for it.

Ol Dirty Dastard 01-04-2022 02:25 PM

Lock Jaw such a derp.

Lock Jaw 01-05-2022 12:19 PM

Second episode was better

SPOILER: show
F yeah at Black Krrsantan or however you spell that. Looking forward to more of him in the present.

Lock Jaw 01-12-2022 09:35 PM

Loved episode 3

SPOILER: show
Love the new bike gang with their colourful speeders and droid parts.... v cyberpunk

Also, seems like they dropped the "Black" from Krrsantan's name maybe.... prob a good idea. He was pretty awesome.... as much as I liked the new bike gang, I wanted to see him do what wookies do and rip a dude's arms out of their sockets (they could get droid arms after).

Fignuts 01-12-2022 09:36 PM

Not sure about Joan Jett and the beetle borgs. Seems way more power rangers than star wars.

Calm down gatekeeper

Fignuts 01-18-2022 11:07 AM

what

Lock Jaw 01-18-2022 11:12 AM

Dunno..... but people at work, including some massive Star Wars fans hated the gang and their speeders..... I seem alone in loving them....

Lock Jaw 01-19-2022 10:06 PM

Boring ass ep today.... music sting at the end obv means some Mandalorians coming next ep, perhaps even THE Mandalorian.....

I mean that's fine. Not sure how disliking them is gatekeeping though.

Kalyx triaD 01-21-2022 03:10 AM

I can not believe this show is awful.

Lengua 01-22-2022 10:32 PM

I have enjoyed the show as a whole. I think they are definitely some issues like deep dive fan service (rancor riding) and a terrible, unimaginative reason to pay off how the sarlacc pit was killed. Also, that fucking tech gang lol

Ol Dirty Dastard 01-23-2022 09:39 AM

Every episode other than the first half of the last one has been enjoyable to me. And even still, I popped huge for blowing up the sarlacc and the blowing up the Nikto gang. But the episode only became truly cool once Kristaantan got involved.

With Star Wars, I generally just enjoy being in the world. It's not an ACTIVE decision, but I just don't watch it with the same energy as I do the Sopranos or something. It's more of a shared experience with my friends and us being like "OH SHIT THAT WAS DOPE."

Someone was complaining how they wished Fennec and Boba were more like Han and Leia in that the latter couple were always at each other's throats. Frankly, that shit is tired and tropey. And rewatch Han and Leia, and it's this weird, creepy, sometimes rapey relationship with often-times horrendous dialogue that falls flat.

Lock Jaw 01-26-2022 10:54 PM

Just watched the new episode... that was the best Book of Boba Fett episode of the season

Lock Jaw 01-26-2022 10:58 PM

Found the start pretty funny though in the butcher shop..... all that advanced technology of the Star Wars universe and they still have nothing better than those plastic slat curtains

Lock Jaw 02-02-2022 09:56 PM

Another sweet episode

SPOILER: show
F yeah @ Cad Bane

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-02-2022 09:57 PM

Ridiculous episode.

Lock Jaw 02-02-2022 09:58 PM

SPOILER: show
Oh yeah, and Luke, Grogu, and Ashoka.....

I wish Luke meeting Ashoka was a "bigger deal"... want to see the story/tale of the very first time they met... which could have maybe been on that planet, but off-screen.....

Lock Jaw 02-03-2022 10:22 AM

Soooo many cameos in that last Book of Boba Fett episode..... I even enjoyed the Boba Fett cameo.

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-03-2022 10:52 AM

Book of Mandolorian was dope AF

My guess is that will be fleshed out in a separate series. Sort of like how this and The Mandalorian weave in and out. I'm guessing there will be various different shows doing this, almost like the Marvel Netflix shows. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they
SPOILER: show
made a series on Mayfeld, from Operation Cinder, to what happened after Djin left that crew on the prison freighter, to after he "died in that explosion" leading to some cause that "helps him sleep at night".

Meanwhile, though, this episode had me like

Destor 02-04-2022 10:55 AM

watching ep101 of boba fett. helluva way to introduce your show by having the protag be a huge bitch all ep. the tradition of boba fett never doing anything of note continues

Ol Dirty Dastard 02-04-2022 11:15 AM

lollll you probably shouldn't watch the rest of the show then. He gets some good babyface shine in ep 2, though.

Destor 02-04-2022 11:19 AM

ill stick with it but so far so lulz
