James Flacco > Joe Flacco

Surprised they didn't have Thursday Night Football for Christmas.
They don't want a team potentially having extra rest going into the first week of the playoffs. That's why they have every game on Sunday in week 17.

Alex Smith is ruled out for the game against the Chargers. Droford, want to explain how this is better for the Ravens? The backup QB has to be better than Alex Smith right?

& why aren't there any Saturday games this week
so apparently before going to play at Miami on Sunday, Rex Ryan has cleared out his desk so he might be gone as Jets head coach.

so dumb, Ryan is a good coach and not the reason the Jets suck

I feel like Detroit-Green Bay may have been the better choice for the Sunday night flex because the reward for the winner is a first round bye. I'm guessing Pittsburgh being a bigger ratings draw may have swayed it that direction? I don't know. Seems like there's the least at stake between the four potential games that could have been flexed.
I think NBC also figures that Pittsburgh/Cincinnati might be a better game. You'd think two 11-4 teams should produce a good game but with Detroit's Lambeau losing streak looming large there aren't many who think they have a chance at winning.
Quote:
Lions and Packers already had their playoff spots locked while the Bengals vs Steelers game had a juicer storyline going in for the final AFC spot. Edit: Completely forgot AFC had 2 spots and not just 1 available before the flex |
No one wants to make a case for Atlanta-Carolina or Kansas City-San Diego? They were both locked in as "do or die" games as opposed to just potentially being about playoff positioning which is what Cincy-Pittsburgh ended up being. I wouldn't have really minded either one. I like the idea of the Sunday night game before the playoffs practically being a playoff game in itself.
I would have been fine with Carolina/Atlanta, actually. It's obvious that NBC didn't choose it because it would be 2 shit teams, but that was the only 100% do or die for both teams with no debate. They flexed the NFC West game in 2010 which wound up being a bad division, and then Dallas running the NFC East gauntlet from 2011-13. IIRC in all 4 of those years it was winner advances, loser goes home.
Even San Diego/Kansas City wouldn't have really worked because I believe KC is last in line in the AFC. If Baltimore or Houston won earlier in the day the game wouldn't mean anything for KC other than trying to fuck it up for their division rivals. |
another rumor is that Jim Harbaugh is leaving the 9ers to go to Michigan
http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/12/...g-rumors-49ers |
Still don't get why the 49ers would want to fire him. Stupid.

Atlanta already got a search firm on standby in case Mike Smith gets fired. Seems to be a trend this season. Everyone's prepping for the worst before Black Monday. Rex Ryan cleaning out his office, Atlanta doing this, etc.
Pretty much just confirms that Mike Smith is done if the Falcons lose today.

The Chiefs are holding up their end of the deal but the Ravens only managed a 3-3 tie at halftime which is terrible
Lol at the Chargers and Ravens. Terrible performances by both teams.
Need to just let Forsett run wild with the ball. |

I 100% agree with the game they decided to put on Sunday Night Football. Who wants to watch the crappy Falcons/Carolina game where the biggest storyline is "Should a division winner with a losing record get a home playoff game?". Only other game I think could have been decent would be the Detroit/Green Bay game. But Bengals and Steelers seems to be a awesome choice.
Eh. It's the best game but I just kinda feel like the difference between playing at home or on the road in the wild card round is the least dramatic storyline of the four. Every other game is either for a first round bye or to not be eliminated.
Can't believe the Texans have a legitimate shot at getting in right now...
Touchdown Browns.
LOL if the Texans get the AFC 6th seed cause everyone else is choking.
Thank you NFL Redzone for not letting a meaningless game stop me from watching Drew Brees throw interceptions.

The Ravens are currently losing at home to the Connor Shaw led Cleveland Browns. Might wanna hold off on the lols at other teams for a bit...
Losing to the Jags is worse
Baltimore also lost to that team who is losing to the Jags last week.
Ravens touchdown now winning woo
Ravens are gonna somehow get into the playoffs, aren't they?
Probably. Though I assumed San Diego winning would be what put them out. San Diego losing and Baltimore not being able to take advantage would be the perfect end to their 12-4 minimum season.
Jesus, JJ Watt is not human.

Droford go home you're drunk

p.s. fuck you Tampa Bay for stealing the # 1 draft pick from Tennessee :fu:
last year all the Ravens had to do was win and be in the playoffs and they lost with the Chargers being the beneficiary. kinda weird how that's reversed this year
Quote:
afc north is overrated as fuck
Playcalling for Dallas has reverted back to last years Jason Garrett. Up by 10 in the redzone with under 4 minutes to go and they're passing like they're behind instead of chewing clock. Ridiculous.
:n: Pats lost but Garoppolo was good enough with his play time.

NFC South is fucking atrocious this year.
Chefs playing spoilers. Anything to not see Philip Rivers and his ugly mug in the playoffs is good for me.
I have high hopes for the future for AFC East. Watching the Bills play today, and with Miami's fair season, a few more key pieces for each team and they could give the Pats a run for their money as rulers of that division. Sorry Jets fans. That organization is gonna be in one hell of a mess for a while. |
Cowboys undefeated on the road holy fuck

Alright. Time to hope against hope for some crazy outcomes now...
denver needs to lose in combo with cincy winning so the Ravens can face Manning next week
Hey the Ravens won :)
Where the fuck has THIS Cowboys team been?!

Yup, them Cowboys always choke in december. Gtfo with thattttt

Still don't get why you want BAL to face DEN. Have you seen the Ravens' secondary, Droford?

And then Baltimore gets to play Peyton in the playoffs which is a lock for Baltimore, right?
Pack attack running all over the place
kinda hard to choose between Peyton's 8 1 and dones and Andy Dalton 0-3 in the playoffs/Marvin Lewis 0-5
Nice to see Droford is just as delusional as usual
Quote:
first 2 feature perennial playoff chokers don't want the Ravens to go to Pittsburgh |
Well I doubt you'll get your wish since I'm guessing Denver won't have to play next week to advance while the "Gonna run away with the AFC North easily" Ravens have to go on the road against someone they've already lost to.
both Ravens games with the bengals were close even though they lost both. of the option between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh I'm rooting for the bengals to win tonight
lol peyton just had a drop 6 (fumble returned for a td)
How the fuck do you get 1 point? I just read that the Broncos are up 10 to 1 on the Raiders.
Yea I agree with Droford, I see Denver getting upset at home. Like against Pittsburgh
There was a challenge on the Raiders touchdown which stalled it being official. I'm guessing what happened is whatever site you read it on updated the extra point before they updated the touchdown.
It was on the ticker at the bottom of the CBS broadcast.
Droford, when have the Ravens, at any point in the season, played like a team that will go into Denver and win in the playoffs? Manning had 1 bad game. When the hell have the Ravens played good enough to go into Denver and win though?
Ugh. Seems like St. Louis is gonna need a defensive or special teams touchdown to pull off the upset here. Seattle isn't gonna be held in check all day and their offense isn't gonna do shit.
Seattle losing 3-0 to the rams. I guess they figure playing falcons/panthers is like a bye week
lol. It's 3-0, Droford. Slow down.
Quote:
and the answer to the last part of that question was january12, 2013 |
for the record flacco has the most road wins in the playoff history as a qb with 6 so if there's a qb that's proven he can win big games on the road it's him
Yeah, same exact teams that played on Jan 12, 2013. Ray Lewis is gonna eat up Peyton Manning. He better not throw it Cory Graham's way. Ray Rice and Anquan Boldin will run amok over that defense. Baltimore just better hope Knowshon doesn't go off and they'll be fine.
someone forgot to tell the falcons how important this game was
I miss Boldin in Baltimore :(
for the record flacco sucks huge elephant balls

The Panthers appear to be well positioned to break the NFC South streak. Since it's inception in 2002, no team has repeated in that division and all 4 teams have won the division 3 times in that span.
lol I'm 99% sure that caption is a joke.

Oh shit. Rodgers...

if that's not his acl I'd be amazed

Goddammit. Tell me the Niners not being able to beat the Cardinals is gonna be what fucks this up...
