That would be a way to go. I also prefer Garcia to Guevara.

Gresham is a fine talent but I don't see him as world title level. But that's just because I'll never buy a guy who is 5'4" being a viable world champ when surrounded by guys a foot taller and 100 lbs heavier. The size difference is just too much for me.
Secondary titles would be fine for him though imo. |
Agree with the World Title thing, at least at this point, but I think there are guys taller I would prefer to fight over him. Dude is in shape and can probably tangle you up. Still deserves to be treated with respect as a talent and human being — and you know what? As the World Champion of that promotion, whether you think he’s a natural fit or not. That’s the hand they were dealt/kept playing after Supercard of Honor. Let him know what the plans for him are so he can have faith in management and doing a good job putting someone over.
|
Even the guys whinging about him not liking his lumps admit he is a talented guy. The knocks on him are his size and having not having a dynamic personality. Absolutely no one is saying he sucks in the ring.
|
lol apparently AEW and Kenny Omega have filed a Cease and Desist against Will Ospreay over his new shirt on pro wrestling tees and had it taken off the market. Womp womp.
|
It’s a work.

For what it’s worth, as slimy and disingenuous and overrated as I think Omega is, Ospreay’s shirt is way out of line. For those wondering, it’s got an illustrated picture of him doing a move on the front with “Billy the Wanker” in ugly font. On the back it has “Better than ‘The Best’ Bout Machine.” Way too on the nose. I’m not about to go looking into trademarks, but you could have gone for something way more general like “Better than ‘The Best’” or “Better than Any Bout Machine” which is probably still cutting it too fine. I actually like “Billy the Wanker” as a nickname though. |
In wake of the Gresham story about miscommunication within AEW...Joey Janela went on record that his words of "being ghosted" by Tony Khan were taken out of context, and that he never had an issue with talking to Khan, his issue was moreso that talent relations isn't on the ball. Tony Deppen also mentioned that he found it easy to get in contact with Tony Khan directly at a taping and had a full blown conversation with him despite being an extra.
I see two issues that tie in to each other: 1) Khan might have a largely good rapport with the talent he talks to but the guy runs and books two promotions, is the co-owner and working in the front office of two professional sports franchise, and runs a sports analytics firm. The guy could have his phone open 24 hours a day and there's simply no way he'd be able to drop everything to talk with everyone who might need him. This is where you need intermediaries who have some oversight, specifically Talent Relations 2) They DO have a Talent Relations department but as far as I know it's Christopher Daniels, Michael Nakazawa, and Shawn Dean...all of whom are at least semi-active on the independents themselves. They really need a dedicated person or two in that kind of a job. |
The "jobs for the boys" approach of giving front office jobs to wrestlers made sense when AEW first started and there were only so many people they could sign. Plus at that point nearly everyone on the roster had connections to Cody, Jericho, Omega, the Bucks, Daniels, etc and so it was easier to network and get face time in front of Khan.
But they've signed dozens and dozens of people in the last couple of years, including talent they probably never thought would be available. The structure they were using might've worked for original AEW and Daily's Place pandemic AEW, but not the last year of AEW where they've grown the roster rapidly. Not having a full-time Talent Relations staff etc isn't really conducive to a streamlined, functional corporate structure. |
Jonny Ace and Bruce Prichard about to become All Elite.

Tony Khan can find time to tweet about Vince McMahon and hang out with Tony Deppen, but he can’t settle out issues with his ROH World Champion prior to the day of the PPV? That doesn’t make Khan look as chill as some think it does.
He’s done this to Chavo, to Swole, to Stunt. If the conversation is awkward, he will avoid it. He’s available for things he wants to be available for. |
Tully Blanchard gone from AEW/ROH
|
That doesn’t surprise me. It seemed about time. That being said, they were still working towards things with him with this Brian Cage stuff. That was when — April?
|
He had a new faction w/ Cage, Tully Blanchard Enterprises - They wrestled on the pre-show for Death Before Dishonor, though Tully wasn't at ringside

Triple H is already taking the fight back to AEW, apparently. Brandon Thurston is saying that the next NXT “premium live event” on Peacock is going to be going against All Out on September 4.
You’d think he’d have to have something biggish planned to go against whatever AEW has planned. |
Rumored to be at the NOW Arena (formerly the Sears Center) in Chicago.

Lol, AEW is a joke to even most wrestling fans, let alone the general public. Its “popularity” in places like the UK and Canada is exaggerated for good PR.

Yes. It is known.

Lol, what a a weird way to respond to those rumors. “They can’t go anywhere because I own them!” Why wouldn’t talent want to be in your promotion in the first place?
|
Or he could just be stating a fact.
As to why they might want to be there? Freedom to be themselves and not stuck in gimmicks they didn't want? |
God Tony sounds like such a fucking loser when he does interviews. He's turning me! Him and his love for Sammy Guevara!

Their freedom has led to gimmicks viewers don’t want to see. Some talent are fucking stupid and shouldn’t be allowed to do what they want. |
