Stephen Ross is your new owner of the Miami Dolphins.

Now the question is: Will Bill Parcells skip out and resurrect another football franchise?

Supreme Olajuwon 01-20-2009 10:24 PM

Associated Press
CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb recently had to play defense at his offseason home in Chandler.
Two Arizona Cardinals fans hung their team's flag in a tree and burned "Go Cards," "Go Kurt" and "I heart AZ" in McNabb's yard with diesel fuel, Chandler police Sgt. Joe Favazzo said Tuesday.
Favazzo said the fans hung the flag Thursday, and McNabb laughed it off and even left it hanging.
Then the fans returned Saturday and left a cardboard box in the driveway with "Go Cards" written on one side and "Beat Philly" on the other. McNabb laughed that off, too, when he discovered it at about midnight, Favazzo said.
But McNabb stopped laughing when he went outside Saturday morning, smelled diesel fuel and realized someone had burned Cardinals cheers into his lawn, causing about $2,000 in damage.
Favazzo said officers found an address label on the box that had been left, and it led to Chandler resident Rex Perkins, 37, who later admitted to the pranks.
His co-worker, Ryan Hanlon, 28, also admitted to the pranks.
Perkins and Hanlon were fingerprinted, photographed and cited for misdemeanor criminal damage.
"When they decided to get diesel fuel out and start damaging the yard, they crossed the line," Favazzo said.
The Cardinals beat the Eagles on Sunday in the NFC Championship Game to advance to the Feb. 1 Super Bowl in Tampa, Fla.

RoXer 01-21-2009 11:31 AM

Splaya 01-21-2009 01:58 PM

Lions new coach Jim Schwartz tags Gunther Cunningham as new D coordinator.

I am happy about it

SammyG 01-21-2009 02:41 PM

Rams get Flajole as D-Coordinator, and some Pat Shurmur as our O-coordinator. k. new coaches.

Splaya 01-21-2009 04:54 PM

K more losses

Team Sheep 01-22-2009 10:20 AM

Just got tickets to the Bucs/Patriots game in Wembley for October :) Section 124, Row 18. Great seats.

COME ON BUCS!

owenbrown 01-22-2009 10:41 AM

Hopefully that will be a good game.

Big Fat Mike 01-22-2009 05:10 PM

Thats going to be a terrible game. Matt Cassel vs. Jeff Garcia. Come on.

Team Sheep 01-22-2009 05:34 PM

Tom Brady

Team Sheep 01-22-2009 05:35 PM

Who cares, it's the NFL in Britain, people love it. And besides, I hardly think it will be a terrible game. Quite an interesting battle if you ask me.

An NFL regular season game is a bit different...

Team Sheep 01-22-2009 06:03 PM

They do need to start doing something different over here though whilst this boom period of popularity is going on because pretty soon the novelty of one game a year is just going to wear off.

parkmania 01-23-2009 05:53 PM

Considering that there were people over here screaming bloody murder when it was announced that some of the Buffalo Bills home games were going to be played in Toronto Canada, I think it'll be more than a little while before there'll be more than 1 reg season game per year on another CONTINENT.

SammyG 01-23-2009 06:45 PM

rofl @ Linehan declining the Niners job, so he can the the Lions O-coordinator job. fucking idiot.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 01-23-2009 07:28 PM

He didn't want to coach on the west coast

SammyG 01-23-2009 07:30 PM

he is still a douche

ClockShot 01-23-2009 09:03 PM

Bye, Herm.

Chefs are close to a deal with Mike Shanahan. If true, the Broncos fanbase will probably declare him an enemy of the state.

SammyG 01-23-2009 11:45 PM

Mort reports that a Chief official dude said it's highly unlikely that they sign him though.

D Mac 01-24-2009 06:25 AM

Holy shit whats gonna happen. Shanahan would be good. Bill Cower would be awesome.

There's talks of a franchise being created in the UK iwthin the next 10 years. I'm totally against it to be honest. I think the league should stay in America. There's plenty of cities that could do with teams ahead of anywhere abroad.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 01-24-2009 05:07 PM

Senior Bowl tonight on NFL Network @ 7...lots of first round picks going to be playing in that one

I second that it would be a miserable, horrible idea. Canada, maybe - or even mexico. But not fucking europe. The Travel schedule would lead to some of the worst football ever. And I don't care if Jay Cutler is your quarterback, your going to have alot of 13-10 games..because how can you throw downfield in a typhoon?

SammyG 01-26-2009 03:14 PM

NFL urging the Niners and the Raiders to share a stadium to cut down on costs or some shit.

I guess you missed the Saints and Chargers game then?

But yeah, it would be stupid. And I don't even like the idea of the game going to Mexico or Canada. I think it takes the novelty away from the league that it's a pure American creation and is recognized around the world for that.

But obviously if a market opens up (ahem, Toronto...) then they aren't going to hang around.

Gonzo 01-26-2009 10:04 PM

I really don't think there is enough appeal to hold a team outside the United States. The NFL is novelty to anyone outside the U.S., and I don't think a team would survive in Canada, Mexico, Europe or elsewhere.

Im going off the Giants- Dolphins game from a season ago. Yeah, Phil Rivers and drew Brees have great arms, but someone like Chad Pennington or Eli Manning would get eaten alive week in and week out. You might actually see A quarterback attempt 400 passes and not pass the 1500 yard mark.

Lol so your theory of why an NFL team would not survive in the UK is because it rains a lot?

ClockShot 01-27-2009 05:59 PM

Mike Nolan hired as Broncos Defensive Coordinator.

I think it's gonna be a long while before the Broncos return to the glory days.

No, me theory is that weak armed quarterbacks would not survive 8 home games in london. Oh yeah, and people love a high flying offense. The Giants led the league in rushing this year, and nobody was drooling over their explosiveness because Eli has the arm of a 13 year old girl.

Mike Nolan is one of the best D Coordinators in the league

Herm Edwards gets a job at ESPN.

Jeff Jagodzinski is your new Buccaneers Offensive Coordinator.

Only like 24 hours left that I can say I am a fan of the defending Super Bowl champions. :(

parkmania 02-01-2009 12:25 AM

I really thought that once the team was out of the playoffs, they were no longer considered "defending".

Hopefully in about 23 hours I'll be saying that I'm a fan of the NEEEEEWWWW Super Bowl Champions..... YOUR PITTSBURGH STEELERS!!!!!

Evil Vito 02-01-2009 02:03 AM

Good point, defending WOULD imply they are still in it. A more correct term would be "reigning".

DrA 02-01-2009 10:41 AM

I guess I am looking forward to the game. I don't know. It seems like a game you would see on ESPN Sunday Night Football.

Team Sheep 02-01-2009 12:20 PM

It's a strange one. It's a match up that nobody expected so you don't know what to make of it. Should be pretty unpredictable anyway :y:

UmbrellaCorporation 02-01-2009 02:23 PM

I can honestly be happy either way this goes.

That said...I prefer a Steelers win, by an inch.

I'd love to see Warner, Fitz, and Boldin get a ring especially, but the thought of the Steelers having the most is a pretty neat thought.

SammyG 02-01-2009 05:47 PM

15 bucks on Pitt

Patriots last year were still a bigger choke.

Splaya 02-01-2009 11:15 PM

HeartBreakMan2k 02-01-2009 11:25 PM

Great game. Amazing end to a very interesting and unusual season.

HeartBreakMan2k 02-01-2009 11:25 PM

Santonio def deserves it.

parkmania 02-01-2009 11:28 PM

Until the bonehead personal foul, I was thinking there was a real chance that Harrison could have won MVP, but Santonio was Mr. Consistency all game long.

Supreme Olajuwon 02-01-2009 11:40 PM

God I just hate Pittsburgh so much.

parkmania 02-01-2009 11:45 PM

On behalf of my fellow Pittsburghers, we love you, Supreme.

James Steele 02-01-2009 11:49 PM

The Cards got fucked over by the refs. You just witnessed the PussyBowl.

parkmania 02-02-2009 12:13 AM

I just don't understand - If there was any "fixing", surely the NFL would have wanted the Cards to win - Steeler merchandise will always be big, but the Cinderella story of the Cards that won the Championship when so many people were saying they didn't even deserve to be in the playoffs would send merch sales through the roof.

Triple A 02-02-2009 12:45 AM

Ugh poor Cardinals :'( Heartbreaking

parkmania 02-02-2009 12:50 AM

I've said it before - This was one hell of a game. Between this and last year, the Super Bowl is starting to get back to a competative game. Even though I was pulling out my hair, I was thoroughly entertained yet again. Much better than the SB's of the 90's that were mostly over by halftime.

Corndad 02-02-2009 01:18 AM

That game was amazing. Never been so proud of being a Steelers Fan. Wow. Gotta give credit to the Cards. Hell of a game. Much respect for Wiz and Fitz and that whole team. What a turn around.

I've been ragging on Ben alot in the past but good lord there's no one else I want with the ball with 2 mins left in a big game. Amazing Drive.

Top 5 Super Bowl of All Time.

Requiem 02-02-2009 01:26 AM

GOD DAMN IT. I didn't really care before the game, except that I didn't want the Steelers to win. But as the game went on, I got into it and felt really bad after the Cardinals lost. They came back and I was sure they had it before that last Steelers touchdown.

Also, Harrison is a huge dick. Should have gotten thrown out of the game for that crap he pulled.

Supreme Olajuwon 02-02-2009 04:11 AM

Puppy Bowl V was the only thing that saved this day from being the worst in world history.

Noh I normally don't care about the commercials at all but I marked the heck out for the coke commercial that had Peter and the Wolf. OMG

FearedSanctity 02-02-2009 09:41 AM

This will always be the best Super Bowl commercial...

RatedGSuperstar 02-02-2009 03:13 PM

Second straight year with an incredible finish, but this year's game dwarfs last year's in watchability, IMO. That Giants/Pats game was pretty ugly most of the way through...this had plenty of fireworks, whether it was Harrison's 100-yard INT runback, Fitzgerald's incredible catch on his first TD, Fitz outsprinting the entire Steeler defense to take the lead, and Holmes' incredible catch to win it. Absolutely fantastic game.

I thought this game was quite boring aside from a handful of plays until the last 5-7 minutes of the 4th quarter. I actually turned it off for about 15 minutes in the 3rd and checked back at the beginning of the 4th. The end was fairly fun to watch but other than that, meh.

RatedGSuperstar 02-02-2009 08:13 PM

You're right...it was dry at parts, and the game absolutely flew by with the Steelers dominating the time of possession for most of the first half. There were parts sprinkled throughout that kept my interest when it started to wane, though, so maybe I'm alone on that one. The end was absolutely fantastic, though...it even had my girlfriend -- who was watching more for the commercials and absolutely hates sports -- interested towards the end.

I think a lot of people tend to get bored during parts of the game if they don't have a rooting interest, especially if one team starts to build up a big lead like Pittsburgh did at one point. The best the most of us can hope for is a pretty evenly contested game with some really cool moments here and there, and I think we got that.

Gonzo 02-02-2009 08:29 PM

Yeah don't get me wrong, I obviously enjoyed last year's more because I had a vested interest. This year wasn't all bad though.

Mr. Monday Morning 02-07-2009 06:37 AM

Arizona lose both their coordinators - Haley new coach of the Chiefs, Pendergast fired

RatedGSuperstar 02-11-2009 10:30 AM

ESPN is reporting that Brett Favre has told the Jets he's planning to retire. Again.

Check back after training camp and see if he's interested in further fucking up his legacy by putting together another mediocre season instead of staying retired. I wonder if the Jets are regretting letting Chad Pennington go, considering the results.

ClockShot 02-11-2009 12:52 PM

I'll believe it when the '09 season starts.
