I've noticed Terrel Thomas and Corey Webster playing as gunners on punt returns. I don't know if the Giants have ever used starters there. Overall, I don't think the coverage teams are that bad. I would have to look at the numbers.

The punting game has definitely blown the big one so far. The kicking game has been pretty lackluster as well. Now that they've moved Rosenfels to the holder on place kicks, hopefully Tynes will improve. Kickers are the brunt of a lot of jokes, but snapping, holding, and kicking the ball aren't that easy.

Denver will be taking on the Jets short three defensive starters: Dawkins, Goodman, Ayers. They'll also be short second stringers Woodyard and McBath.

Oh joy.

Should be good times. I hate when the Giants get hit by the injury bug. They've had to battle through some key guys being out, but so far it's gone alright. My biggest concern was C Shaun O'Hara. Adam Koets has stepped in and played well by all appearances so far. I haven't noticed if he is making the line calls, or he is getting help from one of the guards though.

Some NFL news for the day.

Terrell Owens feels that his $2 million salary this year is basically similar to playing for "free" and he tried to give input on Bengals changing their offense game plan. He also tried to put blame on the Patriots for signing Brady to a new deal but not Moss.

Alex Smith keeps starter job as QB for the 49ers and still has support from the owner to stay as the starter. Smith leads the league in INTs at 9 and also owns a record worst starter QB for the 49ers in last 30+ years.

Brett Farve apologizes for causing a distraction this year for the Vikings. NFL won't announce any potential punishments until their investigation in Wang-gate is complete.

He hits that hole like it's 2006 all over again.

McLegend 10-11-2010 10:09 PM

I think it was last week either from a press conference or from his own mouth where it was explained the differences in running style SD and NY Jets have.

In SD he was allowed to "dance" more and do whatever he wanted while NY Jets have more of a run-and-pound style running game and offensive line. Also better motivation since Rex Ryan is more verbal than the coaches Tomlinson had during his time in San Diego.

He still needs to prove he won't disappear or suck during the playoffs since he was one of a few reasons why SD never got past the AFC title game.

McLegend 10-11-2010 10:29 PM

Yeah I'm not buying that explanation.

RP 10-11-2010 10:58 PM

Bought a 12 pack for this game, over slept. Wake up and the 2nd half is just starting. Fantastic. Thank God for rain.

SammyG 10-11-2010 11:02 PM

Yeah the Olde Dongslinger isn't having fun out there.

RP 10-11-2010 11:17 PM

I actually want to see Favre snap out of it and rip the Jets hearts out. Then rip his dong out and put it in Revis's face.

McLegend 10-11-2010 11:51 PM

Hardly anyone wears knee or thigh pads anymore.

I guess it slows them up.
