THE ULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLTIMATE WARRIOR!!!!
|
I'm actually amazed how this game has gone from mild curiosity to pre-order for me. Looks amazing.
|
Technically, isn't it THREE generations? With guys like Austin and Rock in the Legends category?
|
I'm still mixed bout this game. The design is terrible and I don't care for slow motion type wrestling moves. If THQ can get the following wrestlers in the game:
Shawn Michaels The Undertaker Kane Wade Barrett Jack Swagger Steve Blackman Bis Boss Man Edge Christian Then I might buy the game |
For me this comes down to my budget, I only buy games every other month, and right now there's so many games on my list to get than another wrestling game with little replay value.
|
<font color=goldenrod>Looking over the roster on the website - most of the unannounced legends seem pretty easy to figure out. I'm wondering who will fill the rest of the Current WWE slots. So far there's Cena, HHH, Rey, JoMo, Show, Kofi, Sheamus, and Orton. 7 slots left after that.
I'd guess Undertaker, Kane, Edge, Christian, The Miz, Evan Bourne, and R-Truth.</font> |
I wish one was Wade, butt for a game like this, you need your roster locked down early with movesets to make sure the balance is right.
|
This looks like a lot of fun totally Def Jam Fight for NY style but less brutal and more cartoony.
Also I love that animation for the RKO |
I heard this has CAW. I'd really like to see some of that right about now.
|
They're definitely holding a lot back from us with a bit over a month before release. We really only know about the gameplay, art style and half the roster. Aside from Singles, no other modes have been officially announced. CAW was just casually tossed out in an interview I think.
This could be a bad thing. |
Yeah, there's CAW in the game:
<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/MvmkHIgZd8o" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
What was with that ending? So there are no pins? Just a cutscene for pins and it's based on damage?
|
It was either a win by KO like you can do in SvR or it wasn't actually the end of the match and they just ended it on a powerful move for the trailer. I'm thinking it was the second one.
|
The slow motion is really going to piss me off. If you can turn it off then I'll be happy.
|
|
Whom is whom?
|

Looks like: Swagger Hillbilly Jim? Rick Rude? Someone doing the Kliq handsign? -- Actually, probably Snuka. Piper? Two guys in a hat? Ted Dibiase Jr and Cody? Roberts? Dunno, just guesses based on the silhouettes. Though I'm fairly certain Swagger is top left. |
Fairly certain that the dude with the sideways hat is JTG.
:shifty: |
Hope Cowboy hat is JBL, but it is probably "Cowboy" Bob Orton.
|
it's def Skinner
|
Okay, not only labeled my picks (some of which were just shots in the dark), I've also numbered them to make it easier for us to take guesses.
http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...g/numbered.jpg |
6 could also be a young Shawn Michaels.
4 could also be Austin, but he looks bald and 8 makes more sense considering the placement for Austin. At first he looked like Lashley to me but obviously it isn't him. 12 is really throwing me with that hat. He also has gloves, so it COULD be old school Taker with weird hat positioning. Could also be old school Cena, because it's clearly a baseball hat with the little nub. Yet another possibility is Brawler. To the right of #5 is a portion of SOMEONE's leg. It doesn't look right for positioning for anyone, and it doesn't match anyone revealed. It's clearly yellow boots with purple and black striped pants. Beefcake? |
I think 10 could be Taker too. With the big shirt and the scraggly hair early on in his career. Though #5 does have the gloves.
I think #2 is Snuka (Who in All-Stars world is as massive as Hillbilly Jim). #11 is Mr Perfect http://www.derok.net/derek3/images/c...%20perfect.jpg |
Also, I think the bald dudes (4 and 8) are gonna be Austin and Iron Shiek, not Austin and Goldberg.
|
1 - Miz
2 - Snuka 3 - Edge 4 - Kane 5 - Taker 6 - Piper 7 - Del Rio 8 - Austin 9 - Roberts 10 - Foley 11 - Perfect 12 - Slaughter 13 - HBK 14 - Dibiase 15 - Eddie |
1 - Swagger
2 - Snuka 3 - Piper 4 - Batista 5 - Taker 6 - Jericho 7 - Christian 8 - Austin 9 - Roberts 10 - Million Dollar Man 11 - Mr Perfect 12 - Slaughter 13 - HBK 14 - Eddie 15 - Ted Dibiase Jr |
14 - Eddie
9 - Roberts 6 - Piper 12 - Slaughter 1 - Swagger 10 - Edge 8 - Kane THE DOWNLOADABLE TALENT
|
|
7 - ?
11 - Perfect 2 - Snuka 3 - ? 4 - Austin 5 - Undertaker 15 - ? 13 - HBK |
So yeah, they're editing the silhouettes.
Never would have guessed Kane even being in this. |
Piper's kilt casts no shadow.
Knew the Dibiases were going to be in as DLC / Pre order bonus so I assumed they would be part of the roster pic. Glad Cody will be available too. |
Swagger
At least there's no reason I want the DLC. Austin and Punk should be in this though, especially with Kofi in it. |
I guess they put Swagger in because they couldn't do Kurt Angle.

Didn't the commentary explicitly call a KO?

Nah, but the pinfall was a cutscene after the finisher.

Maybe diesel is in the game

PUNK! FUCK YEAH!
|
It does kind of bother me that some moves aren't really what they should be. Adding a flip to Eddie's frog splash makes it a 450, completely different move.
Saying Jake's DDT there is not really his DDT would be nitpicking, so I won't put that against them. |

Pretty surprised that Drew made the main roster and Jericho didn't.

Only real surprise from this final batch is McIntyre. Though didn't even consider Miz being in the game.
I hope I can save money by not having to purchase R Truth. |
I can finally do that Bossman/Big Show rematch I've been waiting to do since Smackdown 2.
|
Drew McIntyre? Really? Really.
|
http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/ar...712875-000.jpg
Drew's face here looks more like Chris Masters', but not. Also, Drew vs. Austin? Fuck off. |
Well he is the chosen one.

I wonder if Jericho will be considered a current generation guy or a legend.
|
that game looks awful.
|
|
I can't fight Morrison, he is too sexy.
|
Would have been interested if it was this Roster utilising the smackdown engine and game mechanics, these arcade style games are just ...:-\
|
So tired of the SD engine. LoWM wasn't the way to go, but this seems to be a great change of pace until a whole new engine comes into place for the sim games.
|
yeah the one above piper is Snuka for sure
|
taker beside rey...
so wait Jericho is DLC? But slaughter is just in the game? |
surprised they didnt put Goldberg in.

But there is a Create-a-Wrestler thing so I assume all of his traits are in there. |
Is custom music in? I already have a bunch of themes on my hdd for SDvR 2011

Gonna have to create Sid.
|
Sid might create another shit load on your hdd.
Too easy to pass up. Sorry. |

EBAY Action figures from the All Star Game. Just thought it was interesting. |
Just found a couple of screen shots which either suggest you can customise attires for anyone in the game or there are pretty weird alt costumes. Here's Orton in a wierd outfit and Kane with molten hands.
http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/sc...2_1280x720.jpg http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/sc...y_1280x720.jpg |
That's awesome if attires are customizable. I can't imagine that being an Orton alt attire. Though it could be a CAW with Orton's face.
|
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/g.../achievements/
Beat all 3 story modes with Cena-50 Points Bury, I mean beat the entire roster with HHH-50 Points Beat all 3 story modes, and beat the entire roster with Warrior-75 Points Hmmmmmm. |
 Warrior's achievement being worth more than Cena and Triple H.
Sure you have to do more stuff with him but it is pretty amusing after how WWE trashed him last time, he's the most valuable achievement to get. |
"Hey, Warrior. Can we call you War? Tell you what, you do the HOF in 2012 and we'll give you an achievement in a video game. Sound good?"
|
Over the Top 15
Won a Steel Cage match. === So the cage is in, but the graphic they used was the chain link fencing. Hope the big blue cage is in. |

Really selling me on the game. Also shows what I thought initially, that pins are actually cut scenes and the game is KO/damage based. Unless there are also pins. Also, old school HBK attire. Edit: Another match that ends in KO: <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FKgnvC9Sr04?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FKgnvC9Sr04?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object> Edit again: More gameplay, shows cage match gameplay. <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/foQ1qFe9N6w?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/foQ1qFe9N6w?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object> |
They coulda added some more old school wrestlers instead of scrubs like McIntyre or K-kwik
|
Quote:
I was going to ask if pins are break-able but after watching those videos, it looks like pins don't occur until the match is already over so it wouldn't matter if it can or can't be broken. |
I'm sure I saw a video where Kofi pinned somebody with the SOS during normal gameplay.
|
In the HHH vs Cena video, at 3:26, the command menu says "gegner pinnen" which is German for "pin the opponent". So pinning is in and it's mapped to the left trigger.
We also see weapons are in the game because there is an "obeject search" (objekt suchen) command on the move list. |
<object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VP7w27rMwTE?version=3"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VP7w27rMwTE?version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></object>
Explains the molten hands screen shot from a few days ago. They're for the charged punch. Also, weapons in this video. |
Go play a WWE All Stars Facebook QTE game and share it. If it's shared enough, a new, free DLC wrestler will unlock and he's apparently "worth the effort".

Shows some alternate costumes, including Purple Gloved Taker and the tie dyed red and yellow tights Hogan. |
This game looks like a blast. Love the roster and amount of costumes I'm seeing.
I guess in that department my only complaint would be that I'd rather see a few more guys like Diesel and Goldberg, or whoever, over McIntyre or R Truth who just feel like a waste/filler. But obviously it's harder to secure legends and they are trying for some generational balance. As it is, the roster is much more satisfying than any other I've ever seen in a WWE game (when it comes to legends and current stars alike) |
I could see this as a new Franchise if it does well.
|
Probably just that Diesel was in TNA when they were securing the roster.
|
WWE's nostalgia market is undertapped. They do a lot with it, but still not nearly what they could.
I think they underestimate the novelty/interest that people have in "old school" WWF. Particularly the people who don't have interest (or won't admit to having interest) in the current product. Retro is cool. Especially in wrestling. I think perhaps WWE is a little weary about pushing the past too hard over the present, because of how they think it may stack up. They do try to keep an eye on the current and future as to not put themselves up shit creek without future generations. |
I can't believe they have only just started making vintage style apparel. And it's mostly event or company based only.
They need to go superstar specific. |
Yeah, but the actual videogame is probably not expected to do terribly huge numbers. SvR was only doing a little over a million copies sold each year. Probably more to do with having the same game over and over than wrestling generally being less popular. Hopefully they actually put more effort into these games and go on an alternating 2 year dev cycle.
|
I'm just speaking broadly on the novelty of the nostalgia.
But it's also nice to see them switching the game style up too. It was to the point where there was just no difference in the games from year to year. It will be interesting to see what they do with a sequel to this game, if it comes. |
Why isn't Goldust in this game?
