Am I the only one here who is confused? What happened to Barrett? All of a sudden and with no explanation whatsoever he's out of the picture?!? And why didn't Punk hit Cena with the chair?

I sortof hope Nexus gets some sort of rebranding now that Punk is the new leader.
Though to be honest, I don't see it happening. |
Only thing can think of is this is all a way to get Barrett on Smackdown for a Mania fued with Taker. I love Punk as the leader of Nexus though.
|
Why are people saying Punk is the leader?!? Isn't it Otunga?!?!

You really see Punk bening on NeXus, and taking orders from Otunga? |
Quote:

I guess that's why WWE doesn't expect us to remember old angles since people have already forgotten what happened 5 minutes ago.

Otunga made it sound like he was the new leader to throw the crowd off and make Punk joining be more of a big deal. Also, it would be absolutely stupid for Punk to join Nexus and take orders from Otunga. |

I do wonder about Barrett. Logic says he returns as a face who's learned his lesson, but he works SO well as a heel. Hope they don't jettison those badass shirts already, since Barrett's face is plastered on them.</font> |

wasn't super shocking but it wud make you tune in next week.
they could even rework that new management line and say punk was the mastermind all along??? |
I already miss Punk on commentary.

I think Punk can breathe new life into Nexus.
That said, I still don't take the Nexus seriously. It was the same fucking attack that has happened for a year. I just can't after all the shit that's happened take them seriously. For them to regain face here, they need to absolutely destroy Cena at Mania and send him packing for months. If Punk/Nexus doesn't come out on top, then my fears will be founded and Nexus will still be a failure. |
This is the way this feud makes it to WrestleMania. Punk can fully heal while Nexus does his bidding. Currently, RAW is putting a lot of effort into a group while the undercard is dying. SmackDown has plenty of guys on the rise like Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, and Kofi Kingston to prop up their midcard, while on RAW, Daniel Bryan has nobody who can be seen as a threat.

I smell a Cena and Barrett alliance here to take on this new rebel Nexus.

Punk can make anything gold. And he clearly has a lot of leeway in his promos.
At least the promos will be good. |

I'm telling you, there's a difference between having all young kids going out there and doing their thing, and having a veteran out there with them. That's why Evolution was successful. |
maybe this is all a super swerve...punk did not hit cena with the chair...anyone remmebers when punk joined the new breed on ecw a few years back? he basically bugs bunnied the fuck outta them for a week or 2 (can't remember how long) by screwing up alll their plans.
perhaps cena and punk are in collusion in order to get rid of the nexus :|, with him being the leader he can make them do crazy illogical crap...it would be a nice twist from the norm. |

We are one...under...Punk!
I am looking forward to CM Punk being the leader of the Nexus. I don't think anyone called this, but it makes perfect sense, in a way. It even goes back to NXT, where Punk was a Pro on the show. It makes sense that Nexus would want to get back out there, even when Wade Barrett can't, and Punk seems a natural fit as leader. He loves getting people to do his bidding. When Barrett returns, he can either rejoin Nexus, teasing tension between CM Punk, or even joint leadership of the group; or he can even feud with them. Who knows? I don't think the WWE has soured on Barrett, rather they're just raising the stakes of the group. I'm wondering if "new management" will allow guys like Michael Tarver and Darren Young to return to the group. Punk was Young's Pro on NXT, and seemed impressed with the kid's ability to stand up for himself at points. Is that a quality Punk wants in the Nexus? Or does he want mindless drones? I'm not sure how far away Joey Mercury is from being ready to return to the ring, but he'd make an interesting addition to Nexus, too. Mercury can work, he can talk, and it's a role he would do well in, I think. |
fuck tarver, fuck young

i wish i could afford to go to both raw and smackdown next week. i settled for smackdown since i live in tucson, and i cant afford to get raw tickets, and drive to phoenix. i think it is going to be a really good raw in phoenix, i just hope they put on a good show here in tucson, like when they did the empty arena match with mick and the rock, that shit was tight
|
Perhaps Barrett returns as a loner heel. Kind of the "badass heel" that Orton was. Says stuff like "Cena was right, I had to stop taking shortcuts... so now I'll beat you down by myself".
Looking forward to CM PuNk next week. Wonder if there's gonna be a group head-shaving? :shifty: |

It's a Nexus Trap!!!!! |
Blah, so they kick out the only guy really worth a damn in Nexus. I mean seriously, why would Punk allign himself with a Barrettless Nexus, they never win matches ever.
Then again I'm really bias towards Wade Barrett. He's literally the best fresh face the WWE has introduced in years |

I could see Punk ending up becoming the higher power or someone Nexus said was part of their plans during the initial weeks of Nexus.
Would be easy to explain why Punk was beaten as a way to throw everyone off in his involvement with the group and maybe S.E.S. being the test or prototype of Punk's bigger plans to change the WWE. Raw itself was pretty good tonight and a bit disappointed at Miz-Morrison title match being done next week instead of the Rumble but WWE can always continue the Miz-Morrison at a later time due to their personal rivalry. |
It doesn't even need to be that deep. 6 are better than 1, Punk's ego wouldn't allow him to believe he'll fail where Barrett did, they all have reasons to want to see Cena fall, it's a wrestling show and David Simon-esque plots aren't really required etc.
It's not at all surprising but it numbs my mind that people are already complaining about this. |
I think it's just me who is disappointed

Zach Gowen did it |
No, he didn't. He wrestled with one leg so there was no chance for pain where his leg used to be.
It's not a broken leg though, it's a broken ankle. If he wrestled on it he could damage it further and then pull a Kerry Von Erich and lose the foot. |
Yes, I'm sure Lara Emily was being serious and thought that Zach Gowen was hiding his 'broken leg' in his shorts.
|
I never ever jest ever :D

<font color=goldenrod>Would be funny if the Nexus all show up bald next week.</font>

Points of interest:
Why is everyone saying "Barrettless Nexus"? Remember, Punk was upset about Barrett being "already beaten" and Cena going on to put him on the shelf with gratuitous acts with <S>16</S> 23 chairs? Punk may be the new leader, and even though it does open the avenue for other things to be done with the original NXT golden boy, it doesn't mean he is out of the group. Just no longer leading it. That brings me to... Punk didn't hit Cena with the chair at the end to prove his dickish point that he's the bigger man. Cena was already done in by the gang rape of finishers, the chairshot would have been "what Cena would have done" and is fuel for next RAW's "Straightedge means I'm better than Cena" promo. |
Cause David Otunga said that Nexus was under new management. That would mean that the leader is gone and now replaced with CM Punk.
I think it'll be good to keep him off TV for a little while for everybody to forget about him. Then he comes back when this feud gets on the Road to Wrestlemania either with Nexus or against him with John Cena. I also have a question since Zach Gowen was brought up. Didn't the WWE want to hire some other one-legged wrestler but called him up instead by accident? |

Thinking about it, I like this. I know I've said I don't think Nexus needs a veteran to boost them, but this does make sense. Punk and Nexus now have a common goal, so why not join them to achieve it?
Hoping for some kind of joint leadership when Barrett returns. I don't see why him taking over would be a problem, given the reason he attacked Cena twice last week. |
I know I have said this in other threads, but I saw it come up here and want to say it again.
I hope it doesn't come out that Punk was "behind" Nexus the whole time. I don't think anyone should be "behind" Nexus because that would ruin the whole point of the group. They started because of how they were treated on NXT, not because someone said they should go and wreck shit. Don't like that people are still on that train of thought. Seems ridiculous to me. |

I'll see where it goes before passing any judgement on it. The crowd seemed to have no rection to Punk joining them.
