Amazon just told me they're honouring my £199.99 premium pre-order after my email. Compared to Game, that's a £110 saving.
Launch line- up... Meh. Nintendo franchises AND exclusive Bayonetta 2 means I must have done something right. |
Gamestop in the US is offering $60 for any Wii traded-in and higher if its an Xbox 360 or PS3 for a Wii U pre-order.
No real limit to how much extra storage can be added by the way of the USB ports with Nintendo joking about if you feel like having 3 TB worth of storage space, you can. Any flash storage device will work and Nintendo won't be like Sony and only requesting propriety stuff. Europe will be getting a special bundle which includes ZombiU. Quote:

The price on Amazon seems to have finally settled at £300. The premium console comes with Nintendoland and we can probably transfer our downloaded games to it, so I'm in no mad rush to buy an actual Wii U game. I just want to know I have the console. Then I can buy NSMBU a couple of weeks later.

Damn you, Hasney. |
The internet is awash with people crying over the Bayonetta 2 thing:
http://i.imgur.com/Ls4DX.png Some even dishing out death threats: http://i.imgur.com/95nC9.jpg |
What are Platinum thinking? Nintendo were the only ones who wanted to publish it in the end. That's what they're thinking. Sega's logo is on the game, but that's purely because they still have the deal in place. Sega didn't want to take the financial risk publishing it so Nintendo decided they'll take it and make it for WiiU. It was Nintendo or nothing from what I've seen.
That and the other Platinum Games one are the 2 I'm most hyped for. |
The exclusivity and the game being published by Nintendo has people saying it confirms Bayonetta for the next Smash Bros.
I doubt it, considering Smash Bros doesn't allow characters to shoot guns (which is why everyone has laser guns and Snake only shoots rockets, not bullets) and I think shooting guns is all Bayonetta does. I never played the game. |
Silly gamers. There wouldn't be Bayo2 without Nintendo taking the reigns. Idiots. It was this or nothing.
|
I'm thinking we might see GTA V on the Wii U. R* have been saying we'd get "more info" soon after the screenshots and they previously never gave a list of which platforms the game would release for and when.
Now the Wii U has a date, maybe we'll get a trailer soon that include a release date and the Wii U as one of the platforms? |
I can see the Wii U having good 3rd party support for now. How good it will be after the next MS and Sony consoles come out will depend on how well it sells.
Even then, the 3rd parties could still get the Wii-itus again and just push out "Here's a half-arsed version of a game you could be playing on a more advanced console.... BUT WAIT, A WILD GIMMICKY USE OF THE CONTROLLER APPEARS" |
Quote:
As a fan of Bayonetta, I was always under the impression that a sequel wasn't going to be made and I'm not upset about it much at all. Chasing sequels isn't healthy and it's no wonder all these chaps are so unsatisfied with life. |
Yeah, if you ever played Devil May Cry, Bayonetta is a very similar vein. Give it a shot if you see it cheap Drakul, it is a fantastic game.
If Nintendo want to save any other franchises from Sega's mis-management, I could do with a new non-handheld Valkyria Chronicles in the west. |
I don't want to play any of the games so far
|
I really liked Valkyria Chronicles in concept, but I started to get sick of it towards the end with the amount of times they would screwjob you in the middle of a mission. I got to Chapter 16 and stalled.
|
Finished the first and loved it, like the second one too but had to abort halfway through when my PSP nub decided to keep dragging to the left, wasting my movement points.
Shame Nintendo can't just buy Sega. Could see them doing right by a few of their franchises. The only game series I consistently like from Sega these days is Yakuza. |

Perhaps the best visuals in a Mario game, though Galaxy looked really good.
|
I'm wondering what the Wii U equivilent to Galaxy will be.
|
I'm sure Mario will have a 'main series' adventure sometime, every Nintendo console housed one (sometimes two).
|
We had Land, then World and then Galaxy. Super Mario Universe?
|
Good call.
|
According to Nintendo's site, here are the games listed as being available on launch day. Not the window, the actual day.
That's pretty damn solid. I'm down for Scribblenauts. Then I've just got to pick between Rayman, Mario & ZombiU |
I'm only getting Nintendoland with my premium console and I'm going to get NSMBU the same day.
Rayman looks cool with the whole dynamic music thing but it can wait. ZombiU looks cool but I'd probably not want to actually play it. Sonic Racing will probably be a 360 game for me, as will any future fitness games. I'm looking forward to seeing what they put on the eShop. We still can't play Mario online, can we? |
No. I'm kind of glad that you can't. It's bad enough playing with people in the same room who you know personally. Can you imagine the level of rage from some individuals online at playing that game when they don't know you? Griefing abound.
|
I'd probably watch "Let's Play New Super Mario Bros U Online with your host Fallen Angel" until he dies of a rage-related heart attack though.
|
Also assuming the camera never faced him.
|
It would have been useful for playing with friends and family. I have a young nephew in England and he's really into the Mario Bros, always wanting to play multiplayer with me when he comes to visit. It would have been cool if I could have played online with him and my sister or something.
It would have been a laugh playing online with the right friends but it would have been insanely frustrating with strangers. I also wonder if they'd ever have custom levels in an actual Mario game. |

Unity Engine is being ported over with the sole purpose of making it easier for indie developers to create and port games to the Nintendo Network.
http://www.screwattack.com/news/unit...indie-hopefuls New screens and a few details were revealed for Monster Hunter 3 on the Wii U. Nintendo outlines some of their long term plans with the Wii U itself not getting any price cuts for at least 3 years or 2015 if it follows the same path as the Wii. The tablet might between that time considering its being rumored to cost around $100 to $150 if it were to be sold separately right now (its not until mid 2013).

holy shit.

They did a teaser image for Scribblenauts where they just had the sillouettes of the Mario/Zelda cast. It was obvious then who it was.
If they include other Mario characters, maybe we could summon a Starman and just be invincable. The Master Sword would make enemies easy. Maybe they'll include Maxwell in SSB? :shifty: |
Some details regarding Voice chatting which will be supported better than it was for the Wii (just a handful of games) although its not a unified system.
Quote:

Strange.
|
Read the voice chat thing a while ago. I think the "game by game basis" sounds like a good idea.
That way, when a kind gets verbally assaulted on a game, his mum can't complain because it was most likely a mature rated game and kids shouldn't be playing them anyway. It is a bit weird that we need the pad, though, but it's obvious that someone will eventually make a wireless headset, so you have your pad in the charging cradle and the headset reciever plugged in. No battery drain. I think the fact we can't use the built in pad mic is an obvious strrategy from Nintendo. They'll eventually allow it. Like the 3DS card limits. The game cards can hold something like 8 gigs but Nintendo only allows the use of 2.5 gigs right now, or something. You know in a couple years, they'll let devs use the whole 8 gigs and we'll get bigger and prettier games. |
Can't wait for this.
Not sure whether to get Black Ops 2 on this or Xbox though. My head is saying Xbox. |
EA revealed it was very easy for them to port Origin to the service with the only big difference is the Network does not store Credit Card info for security reasons and contains Mii-related info.
Everything else is basically the same as an account on any other platform (ex. Steam, XBL, Origin, etc). http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/23/ea...origin-on-wii/ |
I'll get the system... My thing is this: are they going to have the 3rd party games to support the system. They have the controller and graphics to support the Call of Duties and Maddens... Heck Madden games will fair better if they put the playbook and hot routes on the gamepad screen.
|
Nintendo revealed the Wii U will be their first console (and second system in a row) they will be selling at a loss when its launched.
The tablet controller is the biggest culprit since its rumored Nintendo makes around $50-$180 on the Wii U alone but the tablet eats up the entire profit and more. http://www.screwattack.com/news/wii-...rding-nintendo Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge for the Wii was revealed to have a November 18 release date along with a list of the exclusive features for this version besides the previously known new battle system and online modes. http://www.screwattack.com/news/nint...-miiverse-soon Nintendo also revealed because of the strong support by 3rd parties for the Wii U launch window, they've been pushing back several of their own games in order to keep a constant stream of games lasting for all of 2013. They didn't want a repeat of the 3DS where there was a gap of a few months when almost nothing big was released. http://www.screwattack.com/news/nint...ure-sales-2013 Ubisoft announces all the DLC for Assassin's Creed III on PS3 and Xbox 360 will also be available for the Wii U version. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...able-on-wii-u/ |

Wii U GamePad battery can maintain almost a 100% charge for around 500 recharges before it starts to decrease to around 70% afterwards. The batteries are also completely replaceable with a simple screwdriver unlike with Apple devices and the PS3 controller.

Latest Nintendo Direct goes into more details on how the Nintendo Network works.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/wu1kGo5j7NU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
According to early reviews, Tecmo managed to really improve Ninja Gaiden 3 for the Wii U version but the game itself is still average overall.
The recent Nintendo Direct episode was released mostly detailing how the storage works on the system. Roughly 3-4 GB are used up for system purposes while the system can support as a maximum of 2 TB per USB port although only 1 external drive can be used at launch. Nintendo confirmed SD cards can't be used to store Wii U stuff and instead are meant to store Wii related data and help with the transfer process. http://www.screwattack.com/news/japa...capacity-wii-u |
According to indie developers, Nintendo is giving them almost free reign similar to Steam and Apple in determining pricing and when sales occur. Also like Steam, patches can be issued a lot quicker than on XBLA/PSN and Nintendo isn't charging a fee to have patches uploaded.
http://www.screwattack.com/news/much...heir-own-games According to Destructoid, the newly designed eShop is a lot more accessible and user friendly than the current Xbox Marketplace and redesigned PS Store. Also Nintendo was correct when they said launch day of the Wii U eShop would have retail games since a lot of Wii U games also have their retail versions already available (ex. ZombiU, Assassin's Creed 3, New Super Mario Bros U). http://www.destructoid.com/nintendo-...n-238881.phtml |
Just seen something damn frustrating. I can transfer all my bought VC games from my Wii to my Wii U fine from my hacked console as the tool just takes the download authorisations and downloads them on the Wii U. However, none of the Wii U controllers support Wii mode. I don't own a classic controller or anything as I use Gamecube pads for the VC games.
What this means is to play everything I own, I need a Gamepad Tablet (only controller in the box), Wii Motion Plus, Nunchuck, Classic Controller and maybe even a Wii U Pro controller... Now that's overkill. |
Quote:
|
And I might get those too depending on what they offer. With this, I get Nintendo games and Bayonetta 2 and got it for £100 less than what it's selling for. I am actually pretty pumped for the 30th.
|
Your situation is definitely an awesome benefit, for sure :y:
I just wish Nintendo would "get with it". I mean, I know Wii sold a ton of consoles the last "generation", but it was soooooooooooooooo gimmicky that outside of their household titles (Mario, DK, Metroid, Zelda, etc.) games were CRAP. Now they have another gimmick system, while pretty neat at first glance, I think will lose it's touch in less than a year. They should just make an awesome handheld portable device, I'm NOT looking at you 3DS. |
According to Nintendo they are selling the Wii U at a loss but unlike the 3DS, the amount is soo small that buying one Nintendo game is enough to generate a profit on the console sold.
http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...one-game-sale/ |
Nintendo announces 400,000 Wii U's were sold during launch week in the US which is down from 600,000 the Wii sold at launch. In terms of games, 1.2 million games were sold during the same period for the Wii U.
http://www.giantbomb.com/news/ninten...ast-week/4457/ Gearbox explains the reason they didn't port Borderlands 2 to the Wii U was because they couldn't think of anything to include to make the Wii U version special unlike what they are doing for Aliens Colonial Marines for the Wii U. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...borderlands-2/ |
