I remember back in the day when two matches pitting four actual tag teams was the norm on PPV. One was the pre-show... it's a start though.

I also remember when they would actually build up to like... 7 or 8 matches on a PPV card instead of two title matches, two clusterfuck multi-man matches that don't really require a build and some random unannounced free TV level matches just to fill out the card.

It's the right move until they can establish the champ as THE guy. They're making some progress though. Tonight was the first night in a while that I thought there was actually a small chance they'd close it out.

Tough to establish Punk as "the guy" if he's barely closed out any ppvs as champion. Even when he's involved in the best storyline of his reign, its second fiddle to whatever Cena is doing.

Probably also means Cena is winning the case considering all the pre-show talk was about him.

Punk wearing the same gear that he wore last year for MITB, I only recognize that cause I watched last year's match many, many times.

You've got it backwards though. You don't have someone main event to make them "the guy". You make them "the guy" and then people want to see him in the main event over anyone else. Cena's just a bigger deal unfortunately.
